The Abuja Electricity Distribution PLC is constrained to do this publication with the details of Government, Ministries, Departments and Agencies with long outstanding unpaid bills for services rendered to them through the provision of electricity supply in that our previous attempts to make them honour their obligations have not achieved the desired results.

The relevant MDAs are hereby given notice that the AEDC shall after the expiration of 10 days from the date of this publication, that is, after Wednesday, 28th February, 2024, embark on the disconnection of our services to them until they discharge their obligations to us by paying their debts

A relative in one of the ministries just told me the debt is from the past administration.

Most govt organizations esp the military are used to not paying power bills. This is another throwback from the days when nepa was a govt owned parastatal.

Imho they should just create an entity that will supply power to govt only and let them face themselves.

The military in particular are notorious for owning and beating up electricity workers who come to disconnect. It doesn't help that the electricity guys also don't plan. By now I would have run a dedicated line to any barracks that we can shit down from office. No need to put my guys in danger.

Even MD. World Bank, Ministry of Power, Federal Internal Revenue, Aso Villa , State Houses and more are also on the list.owing. How do you expect effective service from them?

Can these people have the right word to sanction distribution companies or call them to order for inefficiencies. There's no other way to sabotage the economy and destroy social infrastructure when bills are not being paid as at when due.

I want to suggest seeking redres in the court of law, but who knows whether the court of law is also amongst the chief debtors.

Ugly shame on these sets of incompetent, morally bankrupt people that occupy the seat of power in Nigeria.
