100% correct.

As a business man that chose to invest in foodstuffs just like ANY OTHER BUSINESS MAN. When price of foodstuffs were low, I used my hard earned money to buy them in bags and stored. And when prices are higher, I bring them out to sell.

And you open your dirty mouth to say i am "hoarding"? Come to my ware house let me tell you something first!

Thieves!

Your mate in Western countries (in whuch you people normally emulate), will never see their brothers and sisters go hungry because of personal gains. Some would even give out the food for free, just to ensure food security in their societies. Go to any western countries and see alot of individuals (not rich), organisations, farms, elites and churches give out food periodically withiout being compelled to do so.

But here, you have some in your wherehouse, and your brother and sisters were facing surge in price of foods as a result of the activities of your kinds, yet you keep hoarding the food with the aim of selling at extraordinary price for personal gain? Where is humanity in you?

Let me tell you fact today, the reason why Nigeria and black rece will never developed is because of lack of love for their countries. No country will ever developed with her citizen placing private interest over public interest. Give #1b to both white and black for community development, the white will use his to power 100 houses, while the black will power only his compound for all house to come and charge phones. That is the extent of black greediness, wickedness and stupidity.

What did you know empty skull , the export is illegal because most of the transactions do not pass through the bank, and illegal export has no positive impact on the economy . It's a black market don't you know that Nigeria has the largest black market in the world. Black market only enrich the few and that's why these big men sponsor banditry to divert the attention of the government and crrate fair among the locals to exploit them lipsrsealed
What?!! Black market export again?
Maybe we should rename Nigeria as federal republic of black market

Nigeria government will leave real issues and be chasing shadows..

The problem was never availability, rather affordability..

Stabilize the Naira
Encourage agriculture
Improve security..

Small small,we will get there..

Simple. Now that cement goes for over 10k per bag, the dealers and distributors cannot be forced to sell at a loss. If you call that hoarding, that's stupid. Government should pay for all the stock, then do "equal distribution" if that is possible.

You voted for APC, enjoy it. You still have over 7 years ahead. No need to put eyes in another man's business. Face yours. It's called greed.

Very shameful. Thos is the worst I never thought will happen.

When are they going to crackdown on Dangote cement for the hike in price?

When will they crack down on flourmill, Indomie factory and all the multinational FMCGs whose product's prices have trippled in recent months?

Very shameful of whoever is leading the so called crackdown. Its the height of economic ignorance. If production of any goods is surplus, the price will drop. You don't go about chasing poor men who used their hard earned money to buy their goods

The success of Dangote group dey always vex you and your illiterate blodas.

You go vex tire.

None of those factories you mentioned is owned by your blodas. You only go to China to import useless products to ruin our economy.

2. how is the Nigerian economy 50% Dangote?

3. how did you arrive at your 50%?

4. you did not answer my question....why did the government not crackdown on banks even after accusing them of hoarding dollars?
Lexy na dangote get half of Nigeria.....it is an open secret.
1- Economic power is political power you don't expect the second largest employer of labour to be subject to same policies as a retailer.

2- He pays more tax than most businesses in the country because somehow more than half of our population have been buying his products, even before he went into petroleum, now that he owns the biggest refinery on the continent you still think he is get to control half of the market?

3- A simple Google search would confirm all these so enough with where did I get 50 from.

4- The present administration cannot crack down on Banks hoarding dollars because the previous government & CBN had put in place harmful policies but they are being rectified now.

Re: Crackdown On "Hoarding" Will Frighten Investors - Peterside by sonofsteven: 5:23am On Feb 18
There's nothing like *hoarding* we've had this practice of storing goods in warehouses or store, now that production has reduced, importation has reduced, everyone is selling their leftovers gradually because if they sell it off once, cost of buying it will diminish their profits and even touch capital.... we need to tackle the main issues being

Security

And access to importation

Cost of importing goods/clearing has increased and making it difficult for importers to continue importing, and if we look into locally, farmers have stopped farming due to insecurities, if no be herdsmen,na kidnappers etc...

Which politicians? Atiku? Or Peter Obi? Or who?
Why didn't they do it 2019 why now?

The price increase you are seeing now is the mistake Tinubu took immediate he assumed office by removing subsidy instantly and also at the same time removing subsidy on naira.
This 2 act are responsible for all this increase in food prices you see today.

Even in UK here where I stay the government subsidies the transportation system. Like irrespective of where you want to go within a city like a state you spend just 2 pounds and you can buy weekly tickets for 30 pounds and travel 1 million times until the ticket expires.

The city councils subsidise this product. At times the buses do go on strike just to increase prices and government don't allow that.

What about the education sector? The government placed a cap on that and subsidies it for the education system, placed a cap of 9000 pounds on it and only allow them to charge international student anyhow

But now the government of Nigeria is now considering removing subsidy on electricity and if problems comes now they will tell u it's opposition

The UK government ONLY did the bolded in January to March, 2023, capping all singe fare 2 pounds.

The only solution is to fight insecurity.

Imagine using force to 'loot' a storage business of their produce because there's scarcity caused by government failure in security.

It doesn't make sense

The truth is, many people especially those in the opposition are waiting for the government to fail for self gratifying. It's obvious the government are working on the security, not that they are not doing anything about this menace, it's only necessary to pay attention to to other areas, in this case cracking down on people hoarding food. In as much as I understand and agree that government should be criticized and be responsible for whatever ineffective policy, I believe we should be logical while doing that. I don't know if you get my point sir
