Please has anybody heard from Arizona State University? For their PhD. I applied to the Biology program. How do they manage the admissions process? Does the department interview? Can you be directly admitted by a professor? I need insights please. I haven't heard back for any interview, but I got a prospective supervisor and I'm wondering if every student has to go through a formal interview. Help.

Hello.

Can I get a head up on this?

I have a conference to attend in New Orleans this May but couldn't start completing DS160 because my passport has expired. The renewed passport will.be issued in March.

Is there a way I can book appointment now and update my new passport information when it is issued or do I have to wait for the new passport to be issued before I can begin the application?

I will be looking to getting a feedback.

Thanks to everyone.

How will a rent receipt issued in someone else’s name be used for your I-20? Any of us that may know someone must be able to explain to the person named on the receipt how it’ll be used.
Wonder oo🤷🏿‍♂️

my question is genuine , my rent is part of the proof of fund and it costs $23k ,
The school said if I have accommodation then it will be subtracted and to show proof of accommodation I need rent receipt or house lease .
So I don’t mean I need an apartment at the moment . I need rent receipt or lease .
Thanks
Still not making sense. Ur math aint mathing. Landlords need ID/Visa pavg, School ID/ SSN to lease out their apartments

Hi Everyone,

I made a visa appointment payment on line and in the MRV on the application , I entered the payment Reference and got a feedback that my request to schedule appointment was received and will be reviewed, that I will get a mail once it’s approved.
Who knows how long this review take and when I should be expecting approval mail?

Someone here noted that it took about two weeks, although the timelines vary, could be faster or slower

Hi, everyone! I need some advice. My mum passed away recently and I’m thinking of visiting Nigeria for the burial. My F1 visa has expired. However, I’m currently on OPT that will expire in May. I am about applying for an OPT-Stem extension. Is it advisable to go to Canada for a visa renewal at this time as I have only 3 months left on my current EAS card? Has anyone been in this situation?

You can’t renew your f1 as you no longer a student. People travel on opt but your entry back is to the discretion of the POE officer. OPT EAD is not valid for re-entry as stated on your OPT card. I’m sorry for your loss

Hi,
I am sorry about the untimely passing of your mum. Because your reason behind your renewal is personal and important, I can only list the pros and cons of renewing while on OPT.
Technically, you are still in F1 visa even while on OPT so you can renew. You should go with your passport, updated I20, EAD card, OPT job offer letter showing dates of hire and end dates, and paystubs or evidence of financial support if you are not being paid.

Someone here (chigozieduru) renewed without issues a few months ago. See their post below. You may want to reach out to them.

[img] [/img]

Some folks on reddit have also renewed without issues: https://www.reddit.com/r/f1visa/comments/10zyq5p/f1_visa_renewal_while_on_stem_opt/

Personally, I think that it is a toss-up. On one hand, I can see a situation where the VO feels that the student has obtained their degree and has already done one year of OPT and may therefore be disinclined to renew the visa because an F1 comes with non-immigrant intent. There have also been issues of lengthy administrative processing for additional review when students have tried renewing on OPT.
On the other hand, the VO may also approve your visa as the cases above have shown. If you do decide to renew, make sure you have your approved OPT STEM extension with the other documents. I also suggest speaking with your DSO before you make any decisions.
I lost my dad while I was a student too so I genuinely understand how you must feel. Good luck and I wish you all the best.

This is a very painful situation. My sincere condolence on the loss of your mum. If your visa renewal is denied what would you do? Do you have any plans?

If you had more time, I would first advice you apply for Advance Parole (I-131)- this would cost you $575 to file since you already have a valid biometrics. This is a very serious situation and I wouldn't advice going to apply for a visa as your extension is still pending.
Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 17 by JohnZak: 3:21pm On Feb 20
I do not think the OP qualifies for Advance Parole. He is in the US and is neither a DACA recipient nor has he filed for AOS, making the foundation for his application for AP questionable.

I agree with you that the OP has to really consider what he will do if his visa is denied before he travels to renew his visa.

I’m sorry for your loss.

But I won’t risk it. You have OPT status that’s almost ended but no F1 visa so you can’t get a new F1 stamp. Reentering will be at the discretion of the CBP Officer.

I heard that Utah state is revoking admission and scholarship packages of Nigerians due to fraudulent GRE test scores. Any information?

Stop spreading misinformation. A friend of mine still renewed her visa just few weeks ago and she’s on OPT with expired F1 Visa.

Good morning everyone, please I will like to ask, in an occasion I get a visa while I applied for school A in USA, and I got another admission in another school in the US, once I get to US, can I go to the school I got admission in instead of the one I used in getting visa?

Please kindly reply anyone that knows how this works, thanks.

Good Morning great people in the house.

I need your expert advice of this.

I currently live in the Uk ans will definitely attend my visa interview in the Uk. However, before i began my applications, i have already paid for my visa fee via my GTB bank App.

So while i was about to to schedule the appoitment, i realised i needed to to make the payment to the embassy i a meant to attend the interview . So i made another payment online.

How to i request for a refund of the first visa fee i made via my GT bank app?

I will appreciate your contributions.
Thanks.

Enter the US and go to the school you got your visa with early before classes start, then transfer your SEVIS to the school you intended to attend.
