This is commendable
Kudos to the South Western states, they've been in front in dealing with the present economic issues.

The Governor knows there are people like you all over the State and country, thats why he can put this nonsense out in public, and you come out to say kudos to him.
NO STATE OR COUNTRY IN THE WORLD HAS EVER GOTTEN OUT OF POVERTY OR HARDSHIP THROUGH PALLIATIVES
Let's pretend a family with 2 kids in secondary school and a 3rd in university from Ogun State get these things. Thats N70,000.
What can 70k do to a family of 5 in Nigeria? Be honest with yourself.
Then the parents get free healthcare because they are elderly? No pregnant person, so no free N5k there.
Let's pretend the rice is sold at N10,000 controlled price. What of the gas and vegetable oil and pepper and tomato and onion and chicken and fish and meat and knorr needed to cook the rice? Will will they eat only rice for the next 4 years?
Deductions from civil servants is not cash to be spent. It goes to pension, so the 500m on paper is just going to HMOs owned by the Gov's friends. And how many civil servants are in the state compared to NON civil servants who have no link with this deductions? There are 6m people in Ogun State. Only 29,000 are civil servants. So what happens to the remaining 5,971,000 people in Ogun State?
How will that hep them over the next 6 months, or 2 years?
Civil servants (29,000 of them) get N10k a month to help with transport cost - What of the 5,971,000 non civil servants transport cost? Don't they need help too?
Where will the electricity to charge these okadas and keke marwas? Who pays for the cost of electricity to charge these things. Last last, its petrol gen that will be used to charge them. Who buys the petrol?

The governor and president do not have any sense, but its not really their fault. People like you allowed them be in governtment.

STRONG ASSURANCE FROM THIS GOVERNMENT

Just yesterday, I have been at Abuja on the invitation of the President and some members of his team. It was resolved that ;

- with hope and strong resolve by the government and the people things will surely change *if only our people will be a bit patient with the government*
- the CBN Governor Mr Yemi Cardoso declared that with all that have been put into place dollar will surely crash naturally if only the black marketers are put in check.

WHAT WE HAVE DONE IN OGUN STATE

We are not only Gateway state by mouth, we have the best intelligent, resourceful and articulate brains in the country , therefore as your duely elected Governor we met with some stakeholders and came out with these just last week:

- All students in higher institutions across the country who are from Ogun State will be given fifty thousand naira each to cushion the effect of their increased tution fee

- all the primary and secondary school students in the state will be given ten thousand naira each

- all our primary and secondary school students will enjoy at least five exercise books

- all our elderly men and women to enjoy FREE HEALTH CARE from all our health institutions across the state

- all pregnant women to enjoy free health care and to be given five thousand naira after delivery

- having realized that the past governments and this present administration are owing Ogun State workers over #6billion of unpaid deductions we have therefore resolved that starting from this month of February, we shall be paying #500million to offset this deduction owed our civil servants

- our government have been paying ten thousand naira to cushion the effect of transportation cost of our civil servants in the last 8 months, this government will continue with this

- From tomorrow Thursday, 100 trailer loads of rice will arrive the state some of which will be given freely to the aged while the rest will be sold at a controlled price of how much a bag of rice was been sold before the soaring prices of food item started

- we are launching electric okada and tricycles to reduce transport fare by 30-40%

MY PLEA TO YOU AS MY PEOPLE

Let us be tolerant and patient with this government. Let us not join any group of those who are hellbent at destroying this administration. We can't pretend as a government that all is well, we are aware of the hardship but we should not be an agent of sabotage to thwart and tarnish this administration's image and effort .

NOTHING for the MANY able-bodied unemployed youths (males and females) hovering around motor parks and market places in the state.

OUR governments should be creative and create jobs. Our lands still remain one of the most fertile ground...

This is highly commendable for the display of wisdom. I just hope it will be rightly implemented and supervised my the governor himself as Nigerians are the devil we pray against. This is a move in the right direction. At the same time, the governor should encourage local production of consumer goods as it's the only thing that can bring us at par with other world economies.

Fixing this road is the best palliative you can give to the self sustaining people living in this area.

off point. that is not what i asked you.

1. is he going to give it the way COVID palliatives were given? This is not a question worth answering. Are all the palliatives in hard goods? How does one give away free healthcare and cash transfer as covid palliatives?

2. how does sharing palliatives improve peoples standard of living? US and America spend 20-25% of their GDP on social safety nets. They must be stupid.

3. how does sharing palliatives solve the present economic issues? I already mentioned short and long term strategies. There is no trade off between social safety nets and monetary and fiscal policy. They work together.

4. what is the economic sense in removing fuel
subsidy that kept price level down and then removing
it and sharing palliatives?[/quote] I am trying to be very patient here grin Fuel Subsidy was removed because we could not afford it. Savings on those subsidies are being distributed in an open and transparent way while reserves are inching upwards. Removal of electricity subsidy is coming on higher bands. Shout about real pain then.

1. can you show me where I asked you if healthcare and cash transfer will be given as covid palliatives?
Did you understand the questions at all? How is this question “is he going to give it the way COVID palliatives were given?” the same thing as “is he going to give it as COVID”?

2. Did I ask you what US does with their GDP or not? What is the correlation between what US does with its GDP and the question I asked you which is…. how does sharing palliatives improve people’s standard of living?

3. Did I ask you about any strategy? What has strategy got to do with this question?.... how does sharing palliatives solve the present economic issues?

4. You didn’t answer the question I asked. You just ended up creating more ambiguity for yourself…. what is the economic sense in removing fuel subsidy that kept price level down and then removing it and sharing palliatives?

5. What positive consequence has the removal of fuel subsidy had on the economy and living standard of Nigerians?

6. If Nigeria could not afford fuel subsidy, how then is it able to afford the savings of fuel subsidy which is now being shared?

7. Since you claim that the savings on the removal of fuel subsidy being distributed in an open and transparent way, can you give me details of the total amount that has been saved so far and how each kobo has been distributed and who and who has gotten each kobo that has been distributed?

Unfortunately you are one of those people who asks questions to which answers are easily available on the Internet. Such characters are actually deeply political but attempt to mask this behind a facade of pseudo intellectualism. Take your question 7 for instance. My word!

Bros I did not vote in the Federal elections but I voted APC in Lagos state. That makes me Independent- APC. I have no regrets. Just so that you don't waste your time with me.

Sorry no more time. You can have the last word since that's the laurel you are chasing. cheesy
