When I look at the married men around me, I no longer see the need of having a wife.

I discovered something shocking, a few months ago:

Most men die before their wives, and most likely before their children finish university education. Look at your dad's friends, how many of them are still alive to enjoy the fruits of their parental labour?

Before marriage, you go through a lot of stress in choosing the right woman (God help you, if she's not greedy and demanding) you spend a fortune on marriage, only to be 'eating' one type of food grin till you die. If you're not careful, you go beg for sex tire. grin You think I'm lying? Ask my neighbor who begs to put the tip of his toothpick inside his wife for just a minute.

Now, you're married, you must provide for the rent, bills, school fees, in-law expenses etc
You must not forget to keep extra savings for health issues for cases like complications in child delivery, antenatal care, naming ceremony, baby materials, clothings etc

If you're unlucky to find yourself in financial difficulty after marriage, pray your wife is the understanding type, else you'd deal with a nagging woman, the type King Solomon told us to avoid staying in the same house with, and rather hide on your rooftop.

If your woman is easily driven to anger, and not rational in thinking, you're in serious trouble. You may end up being stabbed or poisoned. A lot of men have died this way.

So dear men, why waste your time and money? Be smart!

I leave you with this Bible passage: "Wealth and riches are inherited from parents, but a good wife comes only from the Lord."
I have been married for over fifteen years and I have experienced what this man said here, this is exactly what happened to men in the hand of Nigerian women except if you are the lucky type, I am telling you. Let the men be aware marriage is very difficult in this part of the world. The OP didn't include the inlaws. May God help every man reading this piece, a word is enough for the wise. You can say I don't want to marry but always prepare for the worst, you must be very strong and have a strong heart then always have a plan and have the mindset that things can go wrong at anytime, remember we are not perfect and your wife is neither.

It’s a choice bro, do what works for you. But from your write up, i can see you just want to live your life, you don’t want to shoulder any responsibility or be committed to whatsoever. Have you considered the positive side of marriage? Wait till you grow old when you don’t have strength to do anything for yourself then you will understand (loneliness). Na the same Bible talk say “He who finds a wife findeth good thing”
I've been single in Melbourne for the past 18yrs. So shut up and shut the F'up about your loneliness threats.

For me. It's even the double lifestyle of most married folks. My guys will be like go and marry.... Yet when we meet to relax in lounge it's with different ladies their wives must not know about. Why the double standard. The same you who will complain in lounge about your wife giving you issue and how you are tired will still tell me moments after to find one and do. As in isn't it big time double standard? So I should find one and do and end up miserable like y'all.......... I'm enjoying single hood. I have a lady abroad and I'm still double thinking on her. The peace of leaving my home and meeting it in the same tidy and perfect way is just it for me. The fact I don't have to lie to any body on where my location is or hide a lady in an hotel or guest home perhaps studio apartment is alot to enjoy.

As of yesterday I paid a very beautiful young lady to keep me company and she really gave me the best of the best. It's transactional and just perfect. I'm not even worried about bills of in-laws or nagging from anyone. Even my lady abrosd once she gives attitude most times I press the red button on my phone. I hate stress and everything that with affect mental health is tantamount to destroying me.

Marriage is great in books, fictions and movie roles. The goodness is a mirage in real life. It's about bills, more bills, pay more bills or u quit, pay more bills and beg to enjoy what you paid for. I give up jare

Really?cheesy

Who is supposed to die first?
You are older than your wife with 15 years and you want her to die first? Are you a wizard?
It is simple FIFO. Also most men get sick and die due to lifestyle, not necessarily family stress.

Yeah you're right grin

Very wrong thinking.... Have u ever asked yourself why those men u mentioned died early?

They did probably because they had a lot of children to cater for.

As a man, when u get married, u have to carry over 90% of family responsibilities. So u need to plan the number of kids that will go with that.

I bet if u have just 1 kid, there is no way u would suffer so much as to die early all things being equal.

I have never seen a family with just 1 child that is suffering. Rarely possible.

Men and men suffer in marriage because of having lots of kids they can't cater for.

One kid in Nigeria? You better don't have any because that's like not having any. I pray you don't labour in vain grin grin grin

Not really true. My mother is old now and lives alone in her own house. All of us the children are grown now facing our own families... Sometimes I do feel pity for my mum coz she lives all alone although we try to see here once or twice in a month. So u see weather you have children or not you will still be lonely at old age except if your partner is still alive with you at old age
This is very true.
My dad & mum are the only ones at home now. I think the only thing there is, I believe there is a fulfilment that comes with knowing u have children u can call on, even if they aren't there with u, than having no one to call at all.

My own perspective on marriage: If it ain't working, cut it short to have your sanity.
Religion has blinded & trapped alot if people into depression and PTSD.
Don't go kill yourself over for nothing.

Lolz, at least, you still see her once and twice a month and you do call her too. The Op won't enjoy any of the 2 when he gets old.
God help him, if he should ever get sick in old age, nobody will take care of him or come to look after him
God help him again, if he should eventually get rich with one or 2 companies and mistakenly develop dementia. It's the people he employed that will keep moving all his money out of his account till he's left with nothing(I saw this case with my own 2 eyes in Neuropsychiatric hospital at Abeokuta)

Let's take NL frontpage as stat.

Drunk driving, drinking powerman to knack side-chick, getting stabbed by angry 2nd wife, getting killed by 200L girls after taking colos, kidney and liver failure, diabetes and amputation like Mr Ibu.

But they prefer to blame it on marriage. Please stay single. Marriage is not compulsory and we wouldn't have noticed if he didn't create this thread.

I understand your opinion but I think you went extreme. You embodied all the bad deeds in a marriage into your fictional marriage. I agree marriage have ups n down but there are a lot of benefits in it too. Eating fruit of our labour is not as important as seeing your children happy during n after your life. The joy of becoming a good father replaces whatever the mother deeds is in most marriages (I know there are exceptions).

I pray we put God first when in search of a life partner and when also in the marriage as He makes the burden lighter and the journey easier.

Go and tell this to some lucky guys who married ladies that helped them secure green card to USA where they work and live their dream life.

Abi you go tell Nigerian fortunate guys that married nurses that took them to UK, Germany, Canada, Australia, USA, etc where they and their kids are now living the lavido da loca life that broke guys in Naija can only watch in movies cheesy

Abi you go tell people like my wifey, Regina Daniels, and many lucky ladies that married men that made their dream life come to reality?

Go and tell Remi Tinubu that marriage is useless make she pour you acid mixed with hot oil grin

Bros marriage has favored some people while it destroyed some.

The koko is that before you marry any girl, think beyond sexual satisfaction and cooking/eating, think future, think finance, think business, think career, think politics and best is to marry like the royal families, marry like a Prince because Princes don't marry for sexual satisfaction and food, they think about sustaining their families' royal lineage and expanding their father's kingdom cool

Anything you do just have next of kin sha.
✅ married @ 29 and still enjoying my marriage, staying single doesn't guarantee longevity, our fathers lived at 80-102 married. With 11-12 children. It's ur choice sha.

But like I said, make sure you have someone to carry your name.

Oga go and marry, you are 33 not yet married why life expectancy in Nigeria is 56 years, while university graduation is between 23-25 of age .so plus it and see that you are the one causing your problem .33+25 =58 years .you are supposed to marry at 25 years of age.

U see, in life, I believe that what will be, will be.

U can have 7 children and all seven will die mysteriously or by accident.

And the man who had one, his would survive till the end.

Plan the number of kids u can take care of....too much kids has a way of changing marital destiny a times.

Truth is that there are alot of marriages that are working, that spouses are enjoying the union but u don't hear about it. After all na mostly bad news dey form breaking news

But then like what people said marriage is not for everyone and u don't use a few bad experiences to limit ur life

For example, you won't say because fire can burn a house, u decide to eat ur food uncooked, or because cars have accidents, u would decide to walk from lagos to kano

Marriage is a gamble. If u get it right and u c9nstantly work at keeping it right, u have little to worry about

You are the only one man, even we younger folks don't want to date anymore, it's all a ruse to feed lazy women, courtship and marriage alike. I wish I had knew this earlier but unfortunately, one doesn't get to know until a couple of bitter experiences..
