I recall reading up the circumstances in which the duo of D'banj and Don Jazzy split, resulting in the formation of Marvin records shortly after.

The resulting career trajectories of both personalities are also quite contrasting and talk for another day.

Anytime I hear about Don Jazzy's exploits my mind automatically goes to D'Banj and what he's doing now cos they were like rice and beans then.

Probably he wants to diversify, like going into real estate and probably venturing into manufacturing (Drip soap comes to mind).

Why will he do that. He is still the CEO here and have free hand to make decision. Right now, it easy to sell his music abroad to not just African living abroad but white inclusive. And can transport artiste abroad for shows. He stands to gain more dollar money like this

Na my man Dbanj loose pass here. Dude wanted to hit the international scene so quickly. I listen to one interview granted by DonJazzy, he said biggest issue he had with Dbanj was about strategy.

According to DonJazzy, Dbanj wanted them to hit the international market more while he was of the view that they should first capture the local market (Nigeria) before thinking international. I think DonJazzy did well by solidifying his reach locally. Now na the international market dey find am come!

Very true you can't take it from Ibos, they are great in business though they also add lots of criminality but not all of them. People like Coscharis has my complete respect because I'm familiar with his dealings. His grass to grace story is authentic. Don Jazzy is one of the wisest people of his generation

He won't be able to do that because the contract will contain a "non compete" clause which will prevent him from establishing another music label for some years after leaving Mavin undecided
