Modo's highlights seem to be the cleanest I've seen so far. Not sure why he doesn't just stream the games for us.

Is an upset on the cards, as Mexico lead 1-0 over the U.S. in the W Gold Cup at half time.

To put this in perspective, the last time the USWNT lost a home competitive game was their 2003 WC semifinal loss to Germany…

Mexico stuns USA winning 2-0. Anyone who's seen the trajectory of the USWNT and the growth of women's football worldwide wouldn't be surprised.

If we had taken our chances… Nigeria would have won this game at least 3-4 nil…
And if the Cameroonians had taken their chances?

The last World Cup exposed the deficiencies in the team, where they only beat one absolute minnow, and drew 3 games. In fact, if the Super Falcons were to face them today, I would also deploy the 4-3-3 formation that the Mexicans used.

He apparently recorded the full game and put on YouTube. For those who didn't watch the match live and want to, this is the best I've seen.

🔥 What a win for Mexico in the 2024 CONCACAF W Gold Cup as they score two fine ones to beat USA 2-0 and finish top of Group A.

Mayra Pelayo golazo seals a stunning Mexico win over USA to take group A and earn a top 3 ranking in the QF

USA 🇺🇸 0-2 Mexico 🇲🇽

Thoughts 2

The very concept of having home and away games is to give the home team some form if advantage z either with playing in a terrain you understand better or getting the support of fans. Abuja fails in both.

The NFF seem to be hellbent in frustrating it's own team. First the scheduling was a disaster. Why fix today's game 3 days after the first leg when the window extends till early March? Why set up your team to fail? Same thing happened to the Super Eagles during the world cup qualifiers where we had to play 2 games in a matter to days and we drew both. Just crazy.

Secondly, the travelling plan was another disaster. The girls got into camp on Monday, a few on Tuesday. Had a midnight trip into Cameroon where they spent quite sometime in the Airport. Finished the game on Friday, but flew back into Nigeria on Sunday for a Monday game. How do you take your players through this unnecessary stress? I just don't get it.

Finally, the Abuja pitch is bad. Why take the Eagles to Uyi but force the ladies to play in Abuja? Why can't we provide the best possible conditions for us to succeed?

Really do hope the press asks the Minster of Sports as I believe he's a reasonable guy. The guys at the NFF aren't it.

Listen to Randy expressing exactly same thoughts in his post match conference. Talked about travel plans and the heat the girls had to deal with. Sadly none of this is something he can control. The NFF needs to do better.

The conclusion from this highlight is simple for me

This 2024, Super Falcons must get a natural 9 back into the fold!!

No more makeshifts! Enough is enough. The attributes we need for the 9 is not in the current squad. Simple!

We've gotten a packed midfield with loaded quality. It is only reasonable we get a 9 that will compliment the technical prowess of these midfielders.

This is non-negotiable!!

It’s going to be a Difficult task for Randy to make especially this no.9 issue.. The typical No.9 on ground right now is still Macleans Chinonyerem who’s based in Russia 🇷🇺

She was having a great season last year not until injury came in and kept her out till the end of last season.. She lead the Russian top scorer chat with 9goals before she even got injured.. She’s very Strong, quick, hold up very okay, good in the Air, Uses both feet’s effectively, good penalty taker and can bully her way through defense but right now the level of the Russian League will be called into question considering those playing the no.9 right now are playing in tougher leagues (NWSL with Esther in China) Maybe Randy will have to take a look at her again..

Just curious, how many years did she spend in Nigeria before moving Abroad?

Can’t really tell but she did High School and College in America 🇺🇸.. Maybe let’s say she was below 10yrs before leaving, or btw (10-12)

Yeah yeah.. She’s blessed with a good height but she isn’t that Chubby thuo, Their Chubbiness don’t really have much effect on their keeping abilities though even the likes of Judith Chima, Racheal Ayegba, Nadine Angerer where all very good goalkeepers with their size..

With Becky Sauerbrunn 38yrs and Abby Dahlkemper's 30yrs lack of pace, Their Full back Fox had to do a whole lot of running and dirty work, preventing her from really making an impact further up the field..

When Alex Morgan said that teams have caught up with the US she wasn’t lying, she doesn't only mean technically but also ATHLETICALLY. The modern game is filled with fast, athletic players which means the center backs cannot just be plodding smart players anymore. Center backs must be able to keep pace and defend 1v1 for short periods of time - that is neither Sauerbrunn nor Dahlkemper. You can get away with one, but not two slow CB…

If you’re to play a Slow CB make sure you’re pairing her with a Fast one who can do a double by Covering up for her Partner… A Slow CB in this Modern Day Football is a No No for me….!

The fact that Randy had an extended talk with her after the game does not bode well for her continuing to be a member of the squad.
She obviously is not good enough at this level and still has a long ways to go.

Don’t expect her to continue being a member of the team and especially a squad member against SA.

Doesn’t mean much…
It’s how she was brought up by her parents.
For example, my kids speak and understand pidgin well enough and were all born and raised overseas.

Isn't that supposed to be reverse? I mean why would the coach have a lengthy conversation with whom he doesn't have plans for?

Aside from their near relentless pressing, I was particularly impressed with the Mexicans’ shot accuracy as most of their shots within the box and outside were on target!

I bet the priority for their opponents, moving forward, would be to prevent those outside the box shots

Any 9 that's balling right now should be called up. We need to build on the form vs England. A 9 like prime Desire in that game would have buried one of our missed chances. Infact it will make things easier for Randy cos if a 9 is in that box doing everything a 9 does, nobody will want to focus on our many lapses.

JOE connecting passes, raking up assists with a 9
Esther chemistry with such a 9 like Ademola-Osimhen.....
Payne giving thru balls that end up in the net.

We should be preparing for post-zee mode by now.

How many chances was she given that you already declared her not good enough or is it because she plays in Russia?

Don’t think there’s any better 9 right now, the only one I can lay my hands on right now remain Macleans Chinonyerem.. Or is it Anam IMO we’re going for? Or Edna Imade who I think is more of a flank Player..

Well, AkinD said she's not that good sha. But we'll have to find out imo. Her and Nkor.

Super Falcons needs a 9 to dominate once again.
