Hitech does not have the requisite capacity to handle this kind of job.
This huge project should have been awarded to Julius Berger.

The cronyism and nepotism of this Tinubu government is just disgusting! Hitech has never handled a project of this magnitude in the history of the company. They used to do a few jobs in Lagos only. Now, all of a sudden, after Tinubu become president, Hitech is getting a very huge national contract!
Tinubu would end up as one of the most corrupt presidents in Nigeria if care is not

Does this imply constructing new roads from scratch or reworking already existing roads?

Tinubu in June 2023, barely a month after he was sworn in, assented the bill that enables states to generate power. Abia kickstarted a power plant in Aba and the Igbo people started praising Oti while castigating Tinubu who assented the bill. Yesterday, this administration has awarded coastal highway from Lagos to Calabar! Yet, the Igbo are praising Obi! Something dey worry many of you.

So you think the six months within which Tinubu got to power is when the power plant was constructed? It is Tinubu signing the bill that brought a power plant to life? Some of you can be so deluded.

We hope this would yield the expected development as it's completed within the shortest possible time.

Engr. David Umah is an asset to the Federal Government, he knows his work very well. Square peg in a Square hole.

Everything doesn't have to go to Julius berger. We need to continue to develop our own indigenous capacity.

People ventilate about government making Dangote a monopoly, yet you don't mind if Julius berger is made one. Some types of complex jobs, like the Lagos Ibadan expressway reconstruction may well be beyond the likes of Hitec, but building a new road through forests is not as complicated.

Your claim that Hitec doesn't have experience is patently false. I saw the company reconstructing the heavy - duty Apapa - Oshodi expressway around Gbagada with concrete, and it was very impressive. To my knowledge, that road remains as solid as a rock to date.

Even assuming the President has an interest in the company, should the company close down and its employees sacked because its alleged owner has become the President? I think the proper question to ask if whether the company got the job in a lawful manner.

You be mumu, without the bill the plant will feed the national grid. Olodo, ode. Your nepotism has blinded you, before the bills power plants have been built. Before the bill, the issue of power is on the exclusive list.

There is nothing like square peg
His job is not an Engineering job
It is a political one

A Minister is not supposed to be a technocrat
That is the job of the Permanent Secretary
The Minister is there to provide political oversight on behalf of the people

In the parliamentary system
To be a minister

YOU MUST first be elected as an UP
Will the Ministry shut down if an Engineer is not elected?

Well, he's an engineer. A civil engineer. And he's proposing steel reinforced cement based on his knowledge and expertise.
So it's a clear case of square peg in square hole.

The permanent secretary is not a technocrat in Engineering so there goes your theory

He is a political superintendent full stop.
Go around the So called developer world that execute bigger and more complex projects
A Minister in this position is almost never an Engineer
When you bring in an Engineer he starts to do I too know as we have seen with Umahi and his theatrics when he goes to the sites and ideological insistence on concrete roads
Countries have developed High Speed rail and much more with Ministers that are lawyers or Economists or teachers.

Those countries have very solid bureaucracy and well oiled institutional framework that supports the political head. This is unlike the case in Nigeria where we have weak institutions.
That said, even Fashola a lawyer used to do theatrics when he inspects projects.
The fact is that Umahi is the one pushing cement as an alternative. You might not like it but it's workable. It's not I too know since he actually knows.
