Very good, even as an opposition to this government when they do good I will recommend them

This is good, more of this to discourage expatriates from talking the jobs that Nigerians can do

Outside people living in abuja and Lagos, workers from other states might have no idea there are foreign companies working or located in Nigeria, do you feel this is a problem or failure of the federal government or the state government for failing to attract a foreign investment, and don't you think people working in these other states are stalken or feel stalken?

Mr President I can assure you the entire reasonable youths of Nigeria 🇳🇬 are solidly behind your government. ✌🏽

how will expatriate employment levy (EEL) close wage gaps between expatriates and the Nigerian labour force?

is it not the same Tinubu that has signed a contract with the UK that allows British lawyers to practice in Nigeria?

what will Nigeria gain from such a contract?

We Nigerians Voted for you over the incompetent Peter Obi because of your trusted and tested ability to deliver. Your template in building modern Lagos is an inspiration to we Nigerians and that is why we gave you our mandate. May God bless president Bola Tinubu and give him strength to fulfill his renewed hope agenda. It shall end in praise and we shall all smile at the end of these reforms. This renewed Hope will Favor me and my Family. Amen
. After 1yr, in a typical 4yr program, u are still talking about "Templates" when. U should be celebrating results.

This is a very loudable achievement, I will give it to PBAT on this one...

This means that the foreigners won't have choice than to employ our indigenous people to do the work at their prescribed rate and also bridge the gap of unemployment as our professionals here would always be used instead of the foreigners.

Kudos sir

I will always say it TINUBU is not my candidate in the last election but he is a fearless and smart leader. This hardship is a must regardless of the president we have unless the person is not ready to work. It shall pass and Nigeria is on the part of greatness
This was what you said throughout the 8yrs of buhari, asking Nigerians to endure because baba is working.

Tinubu came in and told you that buhari's 8yrs was rubbish.

And now you have started to endure unnecessary hardship again under another president.
One of the most wasteful Nigerian politician of all time.

You have to give it to Chief Bola Ahmed Tinubu on anything Tax and Levy's....

He might be a notorious Olodo in matters of "Statistics" and good Governance but when it comes to Taxation, Levy's and settling his family with public funds, he is just like Prime Zlatan Ibrahimovic
Taxation, Levying and Looting are his core skills.

This is just ON PAPER. There’s ways around everything in Nigeria and firms will continue to hire expats as they’ve been doing since.

Nigerians are actually blinded by hunger and poverty and never see the future good but just what they will eat now now. And I don't blame them because they have been depraved for too long.
Tinubu is a man of substance and I still stand by him. Even if the whole world disown me. My wife is anti-tinubu and has been giving me nightmares since dollar began to rise, she updated me every hour but has kept quiet now since Friday. I know I will be justified in the end.

All these protectionist moves won't take us anywhere. The reason we are in this mess today was because Buhari banned importation of foreign rice to protect local farmers.

Results? A bag of local rice went from 8k to whatever price it's selling today.

Jonathan left the exchange rate at around #200 per dollar. Buhari implemented a FX restriction policy.

And what happened? The FX rate started galloping, trading as high as #700 before he left office.

Protectionism is a huge mistake. Allow people to compete on equal playing field.

It seems we don't learn from past experience.

I don't blame Tinubu Sha because he is a Yoruba man. They hate competition. Come to Lagos and you'll be surprised to see union for every small thing, even for.

Pepper seller

Pepper grinders

Agbo sellers

Charcoal sellers

Generator repairers

Roadside engine oil sellers

So many useless unions.

even developed economy like UK de do protectionism that's a foreign player needs work permit with certain criteria to play in EPL... Govt exists to protect those who might be weak in a society ok...

Perhaps, wailing wailers?
Perhaps, those that are always sad about anything good concerning Nigeria?

Perhaps, one of those that should rather shut up when they have nothing meaningful to say.

they should employ Nigerians to loot and liquidet their company

This man is so thick, first of all what he needs to do is to drop the co operation tax to 15% or less to attract investors and then tax workers 23% to limit and then 40% above that limit.

Nigeria has so much potential all that is needed is a good leadership.

i pity these country, anyway a typical yorubas is afraid of competition, even America hire foreigners, Google is headed by an Indian.

You are comparing apples and oranges, I'm afraid.

A country struggling economically shouldn't be spending needlessly to outsource jobs (and even pay in foreign currency) which can be handled by professionals within it.

The foreigners heading top places abroad didn't start heading them as expatriates (Maybe you're the one who needs to do better research). cool

I am asking because I know that in O&G something akin to this is in effect

All Nigerians??! I have worked with a lot of Nigerian professionals across sectors and they delivered magnificently.

Why make such sweeping generalizations?!!

Besides, the ones who are dubious do so because they are not well monitored or supervised.

Well, let those who have no faith in their countrymen go ahead and hire expatriates... They haven't banned them from doing so.

Just be prepared to do it at a higher cost.

In a typical construction in Nigeria, an engineer in Nigeria is made to work under a white engineer. It could also be that the Nigerian engineer has more paper qualifications than the white but he has to dig while the white seats in the tractor and orders everyone around.

It also has to do with work ethics, we need to improve work ethics as a people in this country, if you have a Nigerian engineer let's say as a manager, you still have to supervise the Nigerian engineer on site in other to ensure all materials bought are used in a standard manner and the engineer does not use inadequate material in other for him to be able to siphoned the rest.

The real reason many companies employ these so-called expatriate is not because they are overly better technically, it is because when you employ Nigerians, all they will be thinking will be how to run down the company as non be their papa own.

When they will be colluding to inflate invoices, they will not remember tribe then. Then all these nairalanders that cannot stand each other will suddenly become friends just to defraud the company.

I don't like bulaba, but this one is a welcome development.

I kept wondering why we produce graduate yearly but had all our projects handled by Chinese/others.

Our graduates end up in bank-tellers and Uber.

This law is similar to having EFCC and ICPC.

Years back, Jonathan signed the local content law.

When it was enforced, our radio and TV stations were compelled to play more Nigerian songs than American songs. That transformed the Nigerian music industry.

That local content law cut across every industry, including oil and gas.

The question is, what happened to that law?

Why do we need another one?

Nigeria's problem is not the existence of laws. The problem is implementing those laws.
