In this special documentary, ARISE Correspondent Adesuwa GIWA-OSAGIE
@Adesuwa_G
highlights Section 24(1) of the Cybercrimes Act of 2015, ruled unlawful by the ECOWAS Court in 2020 but still used to prosecute Nigerians such as the case of Chioma Okoli, a young wife and mother who faced a distressing ordeal due to a Facebook post on tomato paste

This is what most Nigerian corrupt elites and politicians want, gag people...they don't care about your opinion, you must swallow whatever they dish you.

Same thing tinupoo has turned most jobless youths defending him on empty stomach everywhere even on nairaland.

Vagabonds in power and barbarians at the gate 🤡

Don't go about spoiling people's business with your useless opinion

Do you know how much loss the company will incur and the thousands of livelihood that is dependent on the jobs at the said company
Because you have phone is OK for you to speak venom on people's years of hard work

Chioma Okoli is simple myopic and stuuupid, if you want to criticise do it constructively

Freedom of speech is not putting people out of business that your generation can't afford

What happened to freedom of expression in my country. That Erisco boss speak like he’s thinking from his anus. Bigger companies gets reviews both good and bad and uses them to improve on their product, this one is here talking trash

The law is mostly used to cheat the masses. Rich folks and corrupt politicians often buy judgements because it's always for sale!

MTN has been falsely accused by many for zapping their internet data when the accusers are the ones watching/streaming videos up and down.

But MTN, a Southafrican company did not arrest anyone for this defamation.

Erisco is controlled by a typical Nigerian boss that uses police to intimidate people.

She no try. She should have just made a post without mentioning the name.

The company could have handled everything better. There’s no bad publicity. The could have threatened her with court action then if she offers to settle out of court then she can do Erisco advert with few thousands of packs for her to cook with & post for her followers to like, share & comment😂

Win-win for both parties. She’ll get all the likes, shares & comments she wanted while the company gets an endorsement from the person that said something bad about their product.

This life no hard. Na we Dey make am hard.

That Chioma Okoli intently went to lie about a popular product and started defaming them online.
There should be consequences for this. Forget the young mother and wife narrative. If Erisco foods loses revenue, do you know how many hundreds of workers whose salaries will be on the line?

She’s free to say what she wants as per freedom of speech. However, ERISCO is free to take her to court to support her claims! I saw her crying on tv, and i just fast-forwarded the recording! Let her go and corroborate her claims in court….simple!

Freedom of speech is guaranteed
What you are not guaranteed is freedom after speech.

This is the nuance of every Democratic society.

I hope that the stupid company lose a lot. I stopped buying erisco products completely because of that case and I've persuaded other people not to buy their products as well They are bullies and only foolish people defend impunity.
Customers have the right to criticize,it is up to the company to refute and correct. We are not in a zoo,I hope. Nigerians should have illwill towards that foolish company.

Chioma Okoli is Ibo
ERISCO is owned by Ibo man

Conclusion:
It is a family affair.

Without you and i, there will be no Nigeira.

If our constitution protects individual who expresses themselves about an idea, then lets play by that and respect the constitution.

But people like you and the ceo of erisco dont play by the book, you break the law all the time.
