Kog45: I believe the pursuit of dominance will lead to winning more in the long run than chasing short wins. So defending to win a cup will not result in more wins than a team working toward dominance. I also see developing a team towards playing possessively-offensively as the best way towards dominance. |

“The important thing, however, is not a list of names and tournaments but rather what they have signified. During two decades of Angel María Villar’s presidency of the national association, Spain has had a stable coaching family – and, in consequence, a stable philosophy. Although Spain’s collection of gold medals is impressive, the emphasis has always been on development, experience and education rather than winning. The names have changed year by year, but the footballing style has remained unchanged. The ball is primordial; play is based on technique; attacking moves are rich in short-passing combinations. For years, Spanish youth football has carried the same, recognizable hallmark. And, after years of watering the roots; the plant has matured and blossomed. “ I love the Spanish philosophy because it is so intuned with my orientation of the game. Long term approach will lead to success in the long run. |

TheGoodJoe:Unless you're talking about management and off field aspects. Using 15 years to build dominance in international football is crazy. It is a plan that is insane and unachievable. Let's even set aside age issue, what of the constant and frequent evolvement of football? By the time you use 15 years to perfect your tikitaka football, teams you're hoping to dominate would have evolved with up-to-date tactic. Let me also add that your team will be found out. It will be so easy to prepare against your team because oppositions already figure out what to expect. |

mostob: First of all, there is nothing like found out because there is a term called MASTERY. As long as you keep mastering your philosophy, you will stay ahead and win more. It is also easier to dominate in the long run. Than spending your days trying to adapt with up-to-date tactics. Get a sound philosophy and keep building on it. That is the only way to long term success. Any other thing is less. Perfecting possessive play means improving in all aspects. Technique, positioning, movement, passing etc. Than looking for short wins. |

Asking fans to trust and be patient with a process not yielding results is unrealistic. Besides football evolves no one style guarantees you success over a long period of time. Countries that have won trophies did so with various formations and styles over a period of time. jihday: |

Won't lie I'm not shedding tears at JP's seeming departure. Apart from the slight disruption it will cause in terms of stability and continuity we can still get it right if the right coach for the team is selected. I think Finidi should be trusted considering how long he's been involved in the immediate past setup. Abeg no Salisu nonsense! jieta: |

jihday: The target is not refusing to qualify but judging on a carefully planned playing target. If you target improvement in scouting players, developing players and playing style. Then carefully monitor the playing progress, even if you don't qualify, in a few years, you will be doing better than just qualifying. Qualifying and going to tournaments can never be compared to going to a tournament and making a big impact. |

Amedino99:I prefer Salisu to Peseiro. Salisu selected the squad that thrashed Sao tome and Principe 10 unreplied goals. That squad had more balance than the squad Peseiro selected. |

Don't know why we are perturbed about JPES contract not being renewed. I have said it long before now that a new indigenous coach will be appointed for the Super Eagles. It's definitely not Samson Siasia as his ban still extends till August. It won't be Austin Eguaveon or Salisu Yusuf either. Tom Samfiet is with the Philippines. It will be between the duo of Emmanuel Amuneke or Finidi George. It's also possible that both of them will be employed as coaches but for now,we don't know who will be the Head Coach. Pitso is also a strong contender as he has a lot of admirers in the glass house. Anything can happen though. |
