Metals are strong conductors of heat and electricity, wouldn't the trapped heat during the day turn the home into an oven?
when painted with sliver or white paint, most of the heat will be reflected. They also use light ply woods on the inside to reduce heat transfer.

You went to a construction site to take picture and then turn up with this irrational agenda that your own Nigerians had turned to. How did you come up with the conclusion that the people now go for container houses, how many cases have you seen?

Container house in this hell fire we already are in?

Or do you know what it costs to subdue the heat in a container

He lied .

A 40ft container will cost him about 2m.

And to build a 2 bedroom flat , he will need upto 4 units

Plywood cost is same as cement, so if he's trying to save then he failed

I didnt say he.must use it. Was only telling u how to reduce heat transfer.

Do u know how many bags of cement used in plastering alone??

And what you see there is a storey building, do you know jow much decking cement, chippings, woods, bamboo, and very expensive rods, labour.

Container option is far cheaper

That's the way now.

Just go for simple tiny/minimalist houses. You and a few persons can lease lands together for over 5 or ten years and build something stunning there.

Check out this link for New Zealand tiny houses.

That picture of container is more like a shop to me.

I mean RESIDENTIAL like where a family live, I haven't seen it before. The only place I have seen containers occupied by people is where I work......They got A.C and toilets.

Containers are hot, most Nigerians can't afford to install air conditioners for cooling.

The day the government develops the balls to allow cheaper cement into the country.

Thats the day, the cement cabal will stop holding you to ransom.

Free raw material, import waivers, tax waivers, guaranteed consumers, monopolies, non-unionized cheap labor.

There is no reason cement should be expensive, even at marginal profit, they will still make alot of money by sale volumes.

Say no to cement price exploitation
Go and start your own cement factory and sell cheaper we go buy from you
Re: High Cost Of Cement: Nigerians Opt For Container Houses by Bankowner: 8:06am On Mar 08, 2024
That is why there is what is called insulation. It maintains the temperature inside the container and can be asbestos or fiberglass.

I am yet to see any Nigerian living in container houses apart from offices or security posts......They would rather build mud house and plaster with cement.
Container houses are way more expensive. A 40feet Container as at last year went for at least 3million. You will need at least 3 for a 3bed apartment. Then construction, insulation and roof will take another approx 7million. It's way more than a standard bricks construction.

Don't mind them, I laugh when I hear people say container houses are cheaper.

To live comfortably in a container house with your family you must be ready to spend lots of money so it's a case of penny wise pound foolish.
