Defence Chief orders immediate arrest of all involved

Following the killing of troops of the Nigerian Army deployed for a peacekeeping mission to two warring communities in Bomadi LGA of Delta State, including the commanding officer, two majors, one captain, and 12 soldiers, the Chief of Defence Staff, General CG Musa, has ordered the immediate arrest and investigation of all those involved.

The Director, Defence Information, Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, confirmed the killing of the military personnel on Saturday.

He said, “The troops of 181 Amphibious Batallion, Bomadi Local Government Area of Delta State, while on a peace mission to Okuoma community in Bomadi LGA of Delta State were surrounded by some community youths and killed on Thursday, March 14, 2024.

“The unfortunate incident occurred when the troops responded to a distress call after the communal crisis between the Okuama and Okoloba communities, both in Delta State.

“The reinforcement team led by the commanding officer was also attacked, leading to the deaths of the commanding officer, two majors, one captain, and 12 soldiers.

“The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Gwabin Musa, has directed the immediate investigation and arrest of those involved in the heinous crime.

“The occurrence has been reported to the Delta State Government


“However, the military remains focused and committed to its mandate of maintaining peace and security in the country.


“So far, a few arrests have been made while steps are being taken to unravel the motive behind the attack

What makes this even more interesting is the death of 2 Major’s and a Captain adding to the commander making a total of 4 commissioned officers.

No be lie. Artillery, mortars, and indiscriminate machinegun fire will soon reverberate in that area where an ambush was laid for federal troops. The omens are bad for that entire area. Many there will soon join their ancestors.

No matter how heavily one is armed, or how well one is trained in the art of warfare, a surprise attack can mean instant death, particularly when the attack is launched against the occupants of a boat who have no option but to cluster together and thus present an easy target to an RPG grenade launch, or a sustained barrage of heavy machinegun fire delivered by hidden adversaries.

A couple of years ago several of the US military's most highly trained soldiers were ambushed in the Niger Republic and cut to pieces by Boko Haram terrorist gunmen who attacked their truck out in the desert where there is little to no cover or concealment available.

There was a Case of some Fulani Herdsmen that went to an Ijaw community (Torugbene) in Delta State to misbehave!

I do not want to Reveal here, the Fate that Befell them!

On seeing this news, I speedily ran to the dusty shelves of history books in a local Nigerian library, what I sadly realised is that said community has murdered sleep. Sizeable numbers of their youths would die young. Her waters gonna redden and flow with blood.

Mothers would look for husbands only to discover his half barbecued body.

Because they ticked all boxes. Top most of the box is that they're southerns.

On the other hand, present crop of Nigerian armed forces are cowards in face of equally AK 47 gun carrying men. And super soldiers when they meet harmless civilians.

Killing a commander and 12 soldiers is much oo. I hope soldiers won't level those communities as retaliation. Its their way.
