This is good. Greedy marketers inflating prices would be forced to bring down their own prices.

Well, it is obvious hate has fried your brains.

A cursory look at IGR lf states in the country will show you how these states are doing.

You can look up other indices too.

By the way, what state are you from?

You mean bakeries have not been mass producing?
So what about bakeries who don't get this "contract"? They die off abi

There's no where in Lagos you will get a big loaf of bread at a retail price of 750 naira. Even eggs @ 2700 / crate is a steal.

Here in my area, a single egg is 150 naira. It's a very commendable initiative.

This just reminds me of SAP during IBB regime in 1985 shortly after taking over from GMB through a bloodless military coup. I remember clearly how my parents will tagged us with our neighbors and left home as early as 5:30am to purchase food items in the so called Sunday Sunday market at discounted price. Needless to say the market is under the purview of the first lady . Bag of Garri, bunch of plantain and banana, bag of semovita, dry fish and plenty crayfish, ewedu and extra vegetables including bag of oranges will be brought home. Reminiscing!!!!! All the way. (1985 to 1988).
Nigerian economy became settled and stabled by 1989 and this government serviced market disappeared as people refused to patronize them again due to increments in people's purchasing power. Tinubu has just copied Babangida SAP in another style under internet age.

This is why I like the project . Greedy marketers everywhere. A retail store around me sells egg @ 150 naira per unit. I can't blame her though, she bought from some dealers who unnecessarily inflated the price. A trickle down effect.

The name 'Ounje Eko'.
In the past, Lagos, being a mini Nigeria would most likely have used a more cosmopolitan name for the initiative. Hence my comment.

Then you are not familiar with Lagos.

Lagos is a Yoruba state and has ALWAYS adopted Yoruba in their initiatives.

Eko oni baje - the unofficial slogan; Ilera eko - the health scheme

It's not sustainable
That's the point
And your logic that bakers reduced price because of mass request coming from govt is also false because govt can't pay for all the bread being consumed in Lagos daily. So this is actually reduced demand but increased demand.

Look at it from this angle, a lot of people earning 30-50k monthly salary even in the private sector , how do you want them to survive esp with food increase.? The bread is aimed at low income groups. A lot of people will buy the bread .. 300 -400 naira is a big margin. Esp for low income groups.

This initiative is targeted at low income groups.
Even people can still buy eggs n use for their small cateringbusiness. 2700/ crate is a good one. Those who do egg roll, eggbuns can still sell at 250 naira which will boost their sales.

You think only people who earn 30-50k are affected by this economy? Don't be surprised people in 100-200k bracket will be in that place too
What can 100k buy now?

One major advantage of this initiative is that it will force the greedy market women and men to reverse back to reasonable prices.

I hope so.

When Goodluck Ebele Jonathan , Obasanjo, Yar
Adua and PDP was in power Nigerians were in heaven. We never imagined that a day will come when Nigerians would gue up in line receiving hand outs like refugees.

We are witnesses now and don't know what the future maybe. By 2050 we may be worst than Somali refugees, with way things are going.

Knowing my fellow Nigerians, they will go there, buy and resell at the ridiculous prices that are currently prevailing.

I hope people who do such get arrested.

You keep defending nonsense.
Go and ask those Buhari Media Cows (BMC) how far with their lives. After defending Buhari for 8 years, many of them are now kidnappers, many of them are everywhere on internet begging for food and money, some have relocated to Republic of Niger, Chad etc .
It is better you learn from their calamities now before you end up like them after 8 years of Chickenubu
