The name 'Ounje Eko'.
In the past, Lagos, being a mini Nigeria would most likely have used a more cosmopolitan name for the initiative. Hence my comment.
You have problem o.

Good

But the first question is how sustainable this is? Will the states be buying food and selling at discounted price going forward? .

Secondly is that this is a distortion of the same market reforms Tinubu claimed to be carrying out. If you're creating a parallel market for goods, you are opening the market as a whole up for abuse and disruption in supply as the state certainly has more purchasing power than other marketers. A model closer home is the fuel subsidy that's being grappled with today.

The states and FG should instead invest in agriculture on a mechanised scale while giving food stamps to low income earners to augment their supplies.

Good. But before any investment in Agriculture begin to yield, people must it hence my support for this ounje Eko of a thing

I was at the LCDA Ikota and rice, bean and garri did not arrive till almost 2pm and those are the main item some many of them came for. So many that came early had left out of frustration. I hope they are better organized next week because I was told they had to close by 8pm and they where still not able to attend to everyone on ground.
Mummy really needed a hug here, probably has a lot of mouth to feed and is wondering how long thats gonna last. God bless her❤️

There's no distortion anywhere, this program is great for farmers, the state and the consumers.

The farmers are guaranteed steady off take and steady income by the state with zero loss because the state is paying the difference .

This way, farmers not only earn good and steady money for2 their products, they are also encouraged by to grow and expand their farming operations.

I do agree with you that we need to do more regarding strong mechanized farming, not only for local consumption, but also for processing and export.

Sadly, we are not there yet, not even closed.

How rich folks are not investors, they just park their billions in foreign bank accounts gathering dust.

Just imagine, a strong population of over 200 million and we still cannot feed ourselves. We have too many unproductive Nigerians.

I think it is good.
All states should be doing the same.
Anyone who can afford it should still go shop anywhere they want.

This is like dollar general - everything is 99c 😊

Yes they should invest in agriculture and farming. Help farmers (improve security and financial services)

I wonder if sukkot go shop there or still buys his foodstuff at shoprite 🤔
hehe me I shop everywhere to be honest with you . Ebeanos shoprite spar blenco etc etc you name it am there.

ain't you ashamed putting this up? This initiative is an insult to Nigerians. We should be able to afford food, not this mediocre.

The people buying the foods are paying for it, so they are able to afford it.

Most of you criticize, just for criticising sake.

In most developed countries, the Gov't subsided food productions to make it easy for the consumers to buy.

For instance, the British poultry industry and Thai Rice
industry are one of the heavily subsided foods anywhere

Yes.

If Gov't can invest and sustain subsidised Healthcare and Public Transportation, it can do so for Food and Agriculture

subsidise poverty

Gov't invest in and subsidised Public Transportation and Healthcare for the people, nothing is bad is Gov't invest in subsidised Food and Agriculture for the people.

Public School (subsided education) Vs Private School

Gov't Hospitals (subsidised healthcare) Vs Private Hospitals

BRT/Light Rail (Subsidised Transportation) Vs Private Transportation e.g Danfo, Okada, Private taxi, GUO etc

Subsidised food markets (Ounje Eko) Vs Private unsubsidized markets (e.g Daleko, Ketu, Oyingbo food markets)

Choose the ones that work for you.

your country is gone. Your minimum wage cannot sustain a single adult for 2 weeks. Compare the minimum wage of saner clines and how far it can take them to. Compare the take home of your leaders to that of the saner clines leaders then you'd realized that you don't have a country not to talk of government

It is not compulsory you like Gov Babajide Sanwo-Olu or this program, let those who like the program do so in peace.

What exactly is your problem?
This is the beginning of a program and like all beginnings ,it is not expected to be perfect. It is not programmed feed anybody, let alone all Lagosians.

Gov't patronage of local farmers is itself a stimulating factor for productivities.

If half of the Youths that are always complaining daily on Social Media should go into production of foods, Nigeria will feel their impact positively within six months and their economic conditions would be better off.

Most Nigerian Youth have deep seated entitlement Mentality which make them to easily embrace Messiahnism and look forward to Miracles.

What you look is what you see!

If you continue to look for negativities, it will be your realities.

There is no country without problems.

Nigeria has a lot of problems but it also has great potentials.

Start your own food production, you will make it too.

let the govt provide security first to farmers, provide stable electricity for businesses to produce before you start blaming citizens for being lazy. Let the govt work first. No be to dey pad budget and spend billions on cars alone.

The LASG is trying this within it's jurisdiction. If at least 20 States replicate this program, the impact will be well felt.

Talk to your DISCOs about electricity supply in your area.

Condemn and criticize the NASS Profligacy and Mount pressure on your representatives to deliver the constituency projects for which they collect hundreds of millions on your behalf.
