Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has stated that the argument over the payment of ransom to free the abducted Kuriga students is irrelevant.

The governor disclosed this while speaking on Channel Television’s Sunday Politics, adding that what was important was the fact that the government had been able to rescue all of them unhurt.

The schoolchildren were abducted from LEA Primary School and Government Secondary School, Kuriga, about four weeks ago but the Defence Headquarters, on Saturday, said they had been rescued.

There were rumours that the government paid ransom to the kidnappers for the release of the schoolchildren, an insinuation rubbished by Governor Sani.

He said: “What is more important today is that our children are back home. Most of those permutations are not necessary. If your child is kidnapped, will you be sitting down and talking about how he was released?

“For me, what is more important is that those children are back home. Their parents are extremely happy and what is important to them is to reunite with their children.

“But some people who have no business with the situation are the ones coming out with some irresponsible permutations about whether ransom is being paid, whether someone had gone into the kinetic or non-kinetic approach. What is important to us in Kaduna is that the children are back home.”

The governor explained that the government handled the Kuriga schoolchildren abduction very discreetly, adding: “We tried as much as possible not to jeopardise the lives of the innocent children. Some people at some point wanted to politicize the whole incident.”

He said contrary to reports, 137 and not 287 schoolchildren were abducted on March 7, 2024, from Kuriga in the Chikun Local Government Area of the state.

“I don’t want to join issues with anyone in terms of numbers. What is more important to me is the safe return of the children. Today, I am happy that they are back safely, in high spirits, but those numbers were just figments of some people’s imagination,” the governor stated.

This is confirmation that it was paid

Very high amount

The denial is part of the conditions they were given to be allowed to stay safe for another 2 months before the next season film.

Good businessmen everywhere.

More than obvious.
Same Tinubu goverment that said "subsidy is gone",but has been found to be paying subsidy through the backdoor. This is a goverment built on lies, propaganda and deceit.
It doesn't need rocket science to know that for kidnappers in Nigeria of today to release all 137 children they abducted, without casualties on their side, from a security operation, money must have changed hands.

At this rate, the North may have a Ministry of Ransom payment and a certain Gumi will likely be the Minister.

It is finished, a new kidnap industry has been created, Nigeria Bureau of statistics should take note.

Just imagine if the govt itself that makes a law banning payment of ransom turns around to say "it doesn't matter if ransom was paid" what is the hope of the common man if he gets kidnapped?

It's important cos as a nation we are not supposed to be negotiating with terrorist groups or organisations. Tell us now or forever remain silent over the issue cos we know.

Now I understand why Tinubu said he would continue from where Buhari stopped.

It's a shame to realize that Cabal-bandits have taken over power from the frailed old man in the rock again.

Money that should have been used for the wellbeing of the citizens has now found a new dimension to flow through cabals into some neighboring countries..
No food
Subsidy is gone
But Bandit-currency is flowing into terror business.

So tomorrow now, primary school teachers will enforce pupils to sing the national anthem that says "the labour of our heroes past shall never be in vain"
The questions now is that,
1. Is this the labour that will never be in vain?
2. Will Buhari and Tinubu be part of the heroes past whose dehumaning and wicked labours will never be in vain?
This country is in the gutters

The North and south of Nigeria are 2 parallel lines that should never meet...

If you love yourself as a youth, plan for your self

Mr. Governor, for transparency sake, the people need to know. Why keep it a secret?

Reminds me of the man that swallowed his phone to prevent his wife from reading his text messages.

When you are transparent, you gain the trust and respect of your people.

No ransome from the Federal government. That the new policy.

However, Federal government can't stop states from making their own decisions.

It is a tricky situation especially where children are involved. You can't go guns blazing and charging into kidnappers hideouts thereby putting many children's lives at risk.

The bandits know this and I suspect they'll keep exploiting the situation.

It is important because u are emboldening and invariably giving incentives for more mass abductions. If it were in the south, u will see casualties on the abductors, cos we don't tolerate such criminalities, but obviously the north has a tolerance for atrocious criminalities.

Kidnapping is a very lucrative business in this country. And our security agency don't know the meaning of "classified information". Every kidnap incident is publicised to the general public.

I hope more frustrated and unemployed Nigerian youth won't venture into this lucrative business.
