kaludestiny10: They can dispute it by going to court. However that may be a wrong strategy in the long run as no Disco wants to get in the bad book of NERC, the regulatory agency. A better approach will be to negotiate for a smaller fine. 2 Likes |

naptu2:Apology my foot. In my hood in Abuja. We were on band A and all efforts by landlords association to change it were like water on a rock. Their reason was that we consume the highest power output in Abuja. Na we buy transformer, infact, split it, all repairs, we even pay them to come and do maintainance. The only consolation was that like 98% of the houses have prepaid meters. 3 Likes |

faceland:It's a big fat lie. The UK energy companies are even returning their own licenses to ofgen after committing infractions. Energy business is a delicate mix of business and diplomacy. We need energy and the operators. Fine them, I agree but N200 million fine takes away the responsibility to punish certain individuals and now punish the company only. I don't accept that. Individuals are culpable too. Reduce the fine but slam the individuals! 2 Likes |

This band A rate is so expensive, solar is seriously looking like a better option. The solar industry will boom going forward, especially now that the cost of solar panels and batteries are getting cheaper. 1 Like |

This was exactly my argument the other day when I stated that, Nigerians being greedy and selfish in nature will automatically rope all in this lighting reservations regardless of class or bands but some morons were adamant insisting on the selected band hike in payment being only specifically placed on some selected class members (band A) now u see! An arbitrary price index is already being placed on all regardless of the new order this is just a few of what the AEDC could only spot soon other asides this scapegoat (AEDC) WILL FOLLOW.......so the argument for only the rich will suffer and pay higher is being proven wrong gradually |

FreeStuffsNG: The fine is even too small. We need more of this. Not just in the power space. We need it in healthcare too. Private hospitals toss patients around, delaying treatment and causing imminent complications and even death and they go scot free. By the time people are fined for negligence and extortion a couple of times, every sector will wake up. We have a very poor consumer protection system in Nigeria. |
Re: NERC Fines AEDC ₦200 Million For Violation Of The New Tariff by pepericozi: 2:55pm On Apr 05 |
Why the increase in the first place. If you meter every house and there is stable power supply to everyone, whatever units they have will borne like a candle because they will put on all electronic gadgets in their homes, offices and the like. They will have to recharge every week in order to enjoy the light. Both NERC and DISCO and IBEDC are scam. Shio to their shallow senses. . 1 Like 1 Share |

My wife did a check and lo we are on band A. We hardly get 10 hours of light per day. And in some compounds, there were A, B, C and D band of users. Confusion break bone! 2 Likes |

FreeStuffsNG:You’ll be surprised at how much they have already made in the few days they implemented that and how much they have been making from other illegal stuff they do at the expense of consumers so they deserve that fine and more. The NERC handled it well, government does not have the time to be going after individual workers within a private company unless the money went into their pockets, they just have to sanction and fine the company massively and the company’s board or owners will transfer the aggression to the workers that allowed the illegality to occur and that will deter others going foward. Most times the company’s board or owners will even be aware of the said illegality but because money is coming in, they will turn a blind eye and when they finally get fined, they will look for scapegoats to sack 5 Likes |
