Don't mind him

So far with Nigeria Manu has the better credentials
Anyway I wish their Amunike the best
At last he finally got the job all of them have been lobbying for

Had your Manu venture out of Naija to Coach before?

Are their 2 both winners with U17, and Same record with U20, Since then what had Manu being doing

People seem to forget Manu Garba's deliberate sabotage of his own team at the 2015 U20 WC. Benching attack-oriented lads who would have helped us go far in the tournament. Benched Iheanacho, Yahaya, Success, and co just to prove a point that ended up being pointless.

Couldn't last beyond a season at Gombe Utd. At least Amunike did two-three seasons at Ocean Boys and a season at Julius Berger.

Please... you may not like Amunike but enough of the selective slander.

I respect Manu for his work at U17 level in 2007 snd 2013 but he too has failed at same U17 level in 2016-2017 and barely scrapped together a team in 2019 that fumbled badly at the WC.

This latest Manu Appointment as U17 coach again is his chance to redeem himself. Thankfully he will have two sound tacticians as his assistants. Like DaveP suggested, Olumide Ajibolade is good enough to head that team while Manu excused but it is what it is. Hoping for the best.

Mr Charles you too like wahala grin

Anyway in all seriousness now is the time to back him up to succeed 100% we may all have our misgivings about his appointment but let's just believe his tenure will bring much success to the SE. Not that he should be immune from criticism when wrong or team is floundering but let's just believe he will succeed on the job.

Chukwubuikem Ikwuemesi leading Salernitana's attack vs Fiorentina in his 8th Serie A start of the season.

Game already on and it has seen 10mins played already.

Manu Garba is not fighting for the National team? Just for under 17 and you guys are scrutinizing Manu like this yet making excuses and passes for Amunike. I don't get it!

It was actually in response to Humility33 who said he will pick Manu Garba ahead of Amunike for the Super Eagles job.

Also in direct response to the notion that Manu has led a managerial career with no failures.

So that is the angle.

If Manu can still be supported at U17 now that he has been appointed again for the umpteenth time, then let us also free Amunike to work (when he is officially confirmed).

I took time and watched this interview and I think it's high time we told ourselves the blatant truth. These smear campaigns on our indigenous coaches need to stop. The people at the helm of affairs in the FA are the ones playing politics with our emotions with regards to national team football and age grade competitions.

We have 2 high profile games coming up and up till now we haven't named a coach yet. That to me is a way of sabotaging our world cup aspirations and then blaming it on a local coach so as to use as an excuse to bring in another journey man who will come and collect cheap salaries. When will we stop this slave mentality.

Why can't we build our own instead of funneling monies across the oceans for these imperialists? Now we are losing identity slowly. All because of one stupid ideology called modern football that has not translated to England or even Belgium winning the world cup.

Can we really beat our chest that we gave our home based coaches the same freehand we give Oyinbo man? It is the oyinbo man that can command respect and not our own. Some of us are not even ashamed to spew such outside. Travel out and see how we Nigerians are able to hold our grounds against these whites. They even marvel at our level of confidence. But once it comes to our own we employ PHD syndrome. If he is not accused of nepotism, it is bribery. Every reason to fail.

By and large, this also is the reason our Naira will always struggle cos we love it flashy and we love it European. If it's not Gucci, it has to be Dior. Naija wake up.... wake the eff up!

Thank you for this post. Watching the interview now. There is a part Emmanuel Babayaro talked about Westerhoff inviting them (prospective/future Super Eagles) to watch and study the Super Eagles players.

When I mention these kind of things, some will argue like we can't think outside box to build our team.

Watching the synergy of Michael Olise and Eberechi Eze week in, week out for Crystal Palace against teams is something. Two #10s in a 3-4-2-1 behind the top 9 is sexy.

Same system beat Liverpool.

Emmanuel Umeh with a brace for Botev Plovdiv in Bulgaria. He played 75mins.

That's 6 goals and 1 assist in 22 games (16 starts) in the Bulgarian Parva Liga.

Also, Samuel Akere also of Botev played 63mins.

So on this system there are 4 central midfielders if I may ask

2 AMs acting as 8s behind the striker and 2 CMs (one or both being defensive minded).

So technically, 4 midfielders.

Only the football gods know what Man Utd is up to against Coventry in the FA Cup. Is Man U just trying to make this game more memorable than City's win over Chelsea? Na wa.

Iwobi at fault for Liverpool's two goals.

Two errors.

He always wakes up after that though.

So assist incoming.

I still can’t forgive him for what he did to that 2015 U-20 team against Germany. We had the players to beat Germany, but Manu decided to sabotage the team with his stupid selection and substitutions.

2-3 seasons at Ocean boys. 1 at Julius Berger. No major trophy. No relegation either. Unlike Amunike, Manu Garba was given ultimatums before he was fired due to very poor performance at Gombe. Didn't even last a full season.
