You right we've had poor coaches whether Nigerian or foreign.

For me the first criteria whenever the discussion of choosing a coach comes up is competence followed by if he's Nigerian. I will never under any misguided patriotism advocate for an obviously unqualified local coach to handle the SE if the foreign one is a better option.

Kog45:
I already acknowledged the mistake after AndSunGorilla pointed it outā€¦..na vex I Dey vex make me forgot that Sam Okwaraji scored the best goal of the tournament against Cameroon, the match ended 1-1 but why are we always pointing out local coaches mistakes as if the foreign eagles coaches are perfect.

I thought you based in UK and Mikel spent years in UK,so you should be in better position to know his real age by just walking to him and asked ā€˜Mikel how old are you?ā€¦.Mikel left top football at 30 and do little journey man in China, back to England with Middlesbrough and left Stoke city at 34 with 39 appearances in a season, moving to Kuwait and quit the game at 34 years oldā€¦..

Segun Odegbami quit the game at 32

Adokiye Aimesemeaka quit before 30,so some players feel fulfilled at certain age.

Felix Owolabi the Odegbami and Adokiye mate played the game till 40 years of age,in fact won CAF cup in 1992 with shooting stars.

I left very good Federal civil service job at 35 voluntarily after spent 12 years and I still have colleagues doing the same job till date.

We have different aspirations and visions about life,so better to respect individuals decisions than questioning or asking what is not necessarily

Eden Hazard retired at 32 years old.

I guess Hazard too faked his age then.

2006 Ballon d'Or winner Fabio Cannavaro admits he would have struggled to mark Osimhen of last season

Retired Italy international and 2006 Ballon d'Or winner Fabio Cannavaro has admitted that it would have been difficult for him to stop Victor Osimhen from wreaking havoc assuming he was still playing football last season.

The Nigeria international had a breakout 2022-2023 campaign, playing a starring role as Napoli won the Italian Serie A title for the first time in thirty-three years.

With 26 goals - his highest for a club in a single season - Osimhen won the Capocannoniere, awarded to the top goalscorer in the Serie A and also scooped the Italian Serie A Best Striker prize.

However, the 2015 Fifa U17 World Cup Golden Boot winner has struggled to match his outstanding performances from the previous season, amid speculation surrounding his future at Napoli and fitness issues.

Five matches to the end of the season, Osimhen has registered a total of fifteen goals across all competitions in the 2023-2024 campaign.

When asked if he has seen a striker and thought he would hardly be able to stop him, Fabio Cannavaro told Radio Serie A, via Tutto Napoli: "In the games with Lilian (Thuram ed.), Nesta, Maldini... I knew I could go early, because if I made a mistake I was covered.

"Today this happens very little. But there are attackers like Osimhen, not from this year but from last year, who was certainly difficult to mark."

Cannavaro was appointed new coach of Udinese on Monday and will be working with Osimhen's international teammates Isaac Success and Maduka Okoye for the remainder of the season.

my biggest issue is we never give the most qualified Nigerians the job, Emetole and Kadiri Ikhana are the most recent Nigerians to make Caf champions league finals but both of them were never considered for the SE job but we kept on giving exinternationals like Chukwu,Eguavoen etc, who couldnā€™t cut it the Nigerian league.

Emordi was a little more recent than Ikhana. You forgot him.

Kadiri Ikhana in 2003 (won it) and Okey Emordi in 2004 (won it).

Kelechi Emeteole was the most recent. 2009 with Heartland (Iwuanyanwu Nationale) but passed away in 2017.

To be honest, Emordi and Ikhana were never mentioned strongly regarding the SE job whenever it was available and it also baffled me back then growing up.

The only local coach given the chance to manage the SE was Shaibu Amodu but he was hounded and disrespected despite delivering on his targets.

Tanzania journalist šŸ‡¹šŸ‡æ Ernest Junior warns Nigeria against appointing Emmanuel Amunike as Super Eagles manager.

"I couldn't help but laugh when I read that Amunike is the front-runner for the Super Eagles coaching position. Looking at his record in Tanzania, he only managed to win two games and lost six. I'll give him credit for leading us to the AFCON, but our qualification was largely due to the performance of other teams in our group, not just our own."

"Ask any Tanzanian football fan, and they'll tell you that we have seen significant progress since Amunike's departure. Frankly, the Super Eagles deserve a better coach unless they don't have ambitions for the next World Cup," he concluded.

Oh I forgot... it is Charles posting. The Charles the unverified copy and paste merchant. Lol

Same Tanzania that failed to qualify at the first time of asking for the next Afcon after Amunike left.

Same Tanzania that still needed 2 wins and 2 draws to qualify for the 2023 Afcon just like Amunike's Tanzania side back in 2019. What progress? Lol

This is just a journo that doesn't like Amunike. Period.

It is Wilfred Ndidi (Leicester) vs Joe Aribo (Southampton) in the Championship tonight.

Leicester still on top but needs the win to extend their lead at the top with 2 more rounds to go after this.

Southampton are 4th and confirmed for promotion Playoffs but will be pushing for a chance to secure an automatic promotion slot.

It's gonna be a battle.

God abeg ooo I pray the NFF yield to the words of reason because this is the only thing that bring Nigerians happiness.

We don't need indigenous coach sentiments to appoint a coach for super eagles

Even football countries like Portugal and Austria have foreign coaches managing their national team

NEW SUPER EAGLES COACH: ā€˜Announcement anytime from nowā€™

Officials have told SCORENigeria that the NFF will finally make public the new coach of the Super Eagles in the coming days.

ā€œThe announcement of a new coach (for the Super Eagles) is imminent, it could be tomorrow or the next day,ā€ one official reported Tuesday.

ā€œIt is anytime from now.ā€

It was further gathered that the trip of NFF president Ibrahim Gusau to France may also not be unconnected with the employment of a coach for the Super Eagles.

It is believed that he may now have reached an agreement with one of the shortlisted coaches.

SCORENigeria further scooped that NFF technical committee chairman Sharif Inuwa, his vice-chairman Felix Anyansi-Agwu and secretary, Augustine Eguavoen held a close-door meeting today in Abuja, which may well set the stage for the big announcement.

The NFF technical committee has already proposed a foreign coach be hired if the football federation can afford him.

However, the often broke NFF have encountered difficulties paying expatriate coaches as and when due on account of their poor finances.
