There was no Onyedika at the Afcon in our games. Jpes benched him mercilessly. Yusuf also hardly featured. What you saw at the Afcon was not a true reflection of what our midfield should be.

Go watch the Mozambique game and see Onyedika in combo with a roaming Onyeka. You keep dodging references to that game.

Against Mali, we didn't also field our most tactically balanced midfield. Same with the Ghana game.

Listen, I don't know if it is personal agenda or whatever but be honest, Tijani does not bring better than what we have and what we truly need in the middle. I have watched Tijani probably more than you have and even reported his game briefly here yesterday. But I am not blind. I know the limitations and abilities of all our midfielders. Tijani is not there yet.

Mozambique team who were sent packing in the group stage? Mozambique need improvement sef. Lol.

Didn't Onyedika play against Mali and Guinea that trashed the super eagles?

He can be snapped up. We won't miss him to be honest. He is how old? 21 to be 22 by may.

Onyedika is 23 already this year and a much better midfield talent.

We don't lack a proper holding midfielder. What this team truly lacks is a manager who can put our midfield tools to proper use and ofcos a genuine midfield controller.

I rate Tijani but you are overhyping the kid.

That was how Nigeria lost out on Alaba who won it all. He started at Austrian league too.

On Tijani, he's doing quite well. 21 is a young age. He's defensively astute and technical.

Look at you talking down Mozambique as if Egypt or Ghana beat them at the afcon. Only Cape Verde could.

Onyedika was part of a make shift team that played a test game vs Guinea. Jpes just threw him in alongside Yusuf taking no consideration in the imbalance that was obvious. Trust me, if Tijani was picked for same game in such an imbalanced set up, he will fumble big. So quit this angle.

Onyedika-Onyeka midfield vs Mozambique was a true Clinic. Go watch it.

Using Alaba to make a case for Tijani should tell you just how dishonest you are in accessing both players' abilities and talent level.

The team against Guinea wasn't a makeshift team. It was supposed to be the team which would play the afcon. Only the striker we could say was lacking. The match was just poor thus making the coach to change almost every players who played in that match. In fact, I said I wouldn't bother about the afcon after the 2-0 loss against Guinea because I felt if they could lose to Guinea, nothing was there to see at the afcon. Lol. Similar lineup in the loss against Mali.

Meanwhile, Egypt and Ghana were also struggling at the afcon and needed improvement. Mozambique match against these aforementioned teams were like two struggling oppositions who all need improvement. It's like you keep thinking the world cup is even afcon. Lol.

It's insanity if you think the Nigeria midfield doesn't need improvement.

What are you saying exactly? Wasn't the same Nigeria who neglected Alaba until he was snapped up by another national team and then Nigerians started to cry after he was snapped up 😂

Point is Tijani is a midfield talent with defensive astuteness, agility and technicality. What's there not to like?

I don't dislike Tijani. Already made the point severally that I rate the lad but the central issue is this. We don't lack his profile in the Super Eagles. Yes he can come in as an addition but not as one bringing anything obviously different.

We are not lacking holding midfield profiles in the Super Eagles. So don't make this about Alaba. Stay on topic.

Boy, learn to read please. Where have I said the emboldened?? The real insanity here is you making unnecessary noise and pushing a false notion here about me not caring for midfield improvement just because you want to establish Tijani as some messiah.

And wait... you are telling me this starting XI vs Guinea was the team expected to play the Afcon?? A team with Awaziem in midfield? Sadiq leading the lines? Awaziem, Onyedika, Yusuf in the middle? Do you know how imbalanced that is?

You must be joking. Same Tijani who bossed Inter in the midfield? Dey play.

As I said, we've already seen what the aforementioned midfield you mentioned offered in the 2-0 loss against Guinea, at the afcon and after afcon against Mali etc. To think that's what you're banking on at the world cup?

Leave Alaba out of this. He wasn't born and bred in Nigeria like Tijani to begin with.

Now, one thing we both agree on is this. THE SUPER EAGLES MIDFIELD NEEDS TO BE UPGRADED.

But what you are missing is exactly what our midfield lacks.

Awaziem was operating as one of the 3 man defence. All had to be changed after the shambles just before the afcon. Similar lineup against Mali which ended in Same shambles once again.

Like I already said. End it there. No way in hell was that our expected tactical lineup at the afcon.

The midfield needs rejuvenation but most of the tools are already there. It is the coaches that just didn't utilise them right.

Alaba was not neglected or overlooked. He wanted to play for the U17 and there is no provision to support logistics for a foreign based player to shuttle in and out of Nigeria in preparation for the competition.

You did not address the issue but pursued your own agenda.

1. Gibraltar is essentially British territory, why do you need a visa to go there ❓
2. The term development is used in what context.
3. Look at the countries playing in the tournament Lithuania, Faroe Islands, Iceland, Gibraltar,
4. This is a not for professional youth players competition it seems.
5. What's Nigeria found there playing against teams with very limited top level football in their home countries.

So examine and appraise and see there are several questions raised.
alaye ur questions don dey too much. Why Nigeria is playing in a uefa competition I can't say because I don't work at the NFF. I only shared information that is available as seen on their social media handle and based on the post you first quoted, the controversy that ensued after NFF's statement. Yes Nsofor was crucial during that period. My distinct memory of that era was of a very flat midfield (that was the time when Mourinho almost completely suppressed Mikel's flair) and an above average defense constantly getting bailed out of jail by Enyeama.

just like we have now? I think you are just being nostalgic, I’m sure if I search for post about Super eagles between the period of 2008-2010 it will be filled with criticism

There are schools in the United states that won't grant you admission if you are not 18 years.
Your child is not allowed to start kindergarten until he/she is 6 years old. There are reasons for this.
That is why it is important to study broadly before attacking govt policies. Those Ministers are some of the most accomplished men in their field. Go and verify!

Also, I believe the Sport Minister has his reason for wanting Paserio back.
Look at the CVs of all those that applied and tell me one that you think is competent than Paserio.
Paserio got us to an AFCON final for the first time in 24 years. Abeg respect the man!
