That is incorrect. Both bank workers, realtors and tech guys are going through it like kilode at the moment.

The current tech job market is not roaring like it was in 2021. As long as the Fed Reserve refuses to slash interest rates, investors will still see US treasury bonds as the safest way to make good returns instead of investing in high-risk-high-upside tech ventures.

Finance bros like Ibime go always chop regardless how anything dey go

Someone said with the AI intrusion into every sector we might need to revisit the idea of Universal Basic income

We thought its the physical labor that AI will first hit with robots but its looking like its the knowledge economy that is getting hit first. Cos all the jobs based on knowledge can be done by chatgpt with minimal human input

Thinking about it, the only people who wont be affected are owners of land based resources and real estate since thats what AI cannot create yet (New land)

All these sectors are getting hit. Its when people have money and a job that they buy houses, House purchase in the last 12-24months have cooled.

There is a judgment against the National Association of realtors at the Supreme court where they ruled that commissions from buyers are not mandatory, So almost half of realtors will lose their commission and income. Likely half wont renew their license cos its expensive to hold when you cant make money. I am still holding my own license so that I can buy and manage my properties by myself and have access to MLS

Banks have reduced number of workers and mostly force you to use the online portal or apps, for some banks e.g BoA you even need to schedule an appointment to see a Banker who is probably a Legacy Merrill Lynch staff, if you walk in they will tell you to go and schedule an appointment, that is because they have reduced front office staffs to bare minimum

All these have a trickle down effect, new car sales are lower, even eating out took a hit and just coming back up

Your point about the banks is especially poignant because, a couple of weeks ago, I walked into a CHASE branch hoping for a walk-in service. But when one of the PBs told me that an appointment was required, I was shocked! I also noticed that the bank looked scant, with regard to the number of employees, on a weekday.

Then, on your point about the realtors, I recently heard that almost 40% of Vegas real estate agents/realtors are considering quitting the business, due to both the Supreme Court ruling and the slump in housing sales

So, yeah, I agree that something nasty is about to brew about this economy.

You’d be shocked when robots would be developed to construct homes and other buildings. The allure of the robots would chiefly be that they work much quicker and are more efficient than humans. Then once that happens, the construction industry would be hit with a recession

We can at least hope that the amount of time it will take to build 1billion robots t take up everyones job will be significant and someone like me go don dey close to retirement sef by that time

I hardly stay at home nowadays and when I'm home watching TV is the least of priority. The only thing I watch on TV is football except for election or there's a major political event.

Bruv, ever since i moved to Germany, I realised Putin no be better person and I realized this not through Reuters or Fox News but through interacting with people who are part of my everyday life who were impacted by Putin.

Is it my colleague Oleksandr, who had to japa from a comfortable life in Donetsk because of Putin or our Russian Android Engineer, Dmitry who can not visit his parents in Novgorod anymore because he stands possibility of detention because he is visiting from an "unfriendly country"?

I was on a train to Warsaw and met this Belarusian lady that was basically having to enter Ife-Dili-Chukwu night bus and sneak over the heavily policed Poland-Belarus border because the Belarusian airstrips are closed thanks to Putin‘s stooge

The West no be better people but Putin no be better person at all menh..

"CBN is pegging the rates".

Interestingly reserves are still in decline still, I wonder why Itrm isnt bothered about where and what the reserve payments is going towards.

Isnt CBN defending the Naira?. No one seems to care about the status of the reserves until Naira appreciates.

Anyway from what I'm seeing in the market ( NAFEM data). Looks like there's a lot of apprehension as sales volumes are really declining. Institutions and supply side arent selling and demands seems excessive.

The market seems volatile at the moment and I wouldnt be surprised if CBN actually intervenes at this time

Yeah, the series threatened to be a hit throughout without ultimately delivering on its early promise.

The producers did little to develop the plot of the novel. They just copied and pasted.

That, and maybe financial constraints are the 2 main reasons for it not hitting the expected high notes. Recreating major battles can be quite tricky and expensive.

That final Battle of Sekigahara should not have been glossed over in such a fashion, and would have brought the miniseries to a climactic end. They also could have used more flashbacks to explain the background of the political situation and the path Toranaga took to get to his position

Shey I talk say dem want use our head

All these guys have been selling is the mystique of seppuku

They even wasted a whole episode on the operation of a whorehouse, and left out the main battle

I don't think they are coming back for season 2, and if they do, it will be more false promises

That old man committed seppuku for no reason. Mariko-sama killed herself for what reason? These niggas are time wasters

Viking Valhalla should do and come back

Their closest competitor SLTV is not serious. Their poor picture quality will make you start questioning your own TV. Their agents will even gaslight you about your HDMI port. There is also the issue of watching matches which are 2 minutes late. I wonder if it is still live match.

These are issues stopping me from wasting my money on them but then, I doubt Chelsea gives me so much joy these days to pay DSTV exploitative fee. I will have to look into iptv.

we are likely to find that all these 'international' schools and universities are running money laundering scams for governors and government officials

this is also why the FG reiterated that there will be no dollar payments for services in nigeria.

same way abroad school fees were used to get dollars at official rate by the connected

i just notice that the papers are dated December 2023. looks like EFCC may have actually taken the time to build the case

AI at the moment is such a funny one. I work primarily on transformation projects almost exclusively driven by PE activity, and so I'm seeing something else that a lot of people aren't really talking about, but yet I think is the primary driver for 'AI adoption' in the corporate space...and it's SaaS adoption.

If you think back to let's say 2012 which wasn't that long ago, most organisations had almost their entire infrastructure on prem, or at a co-lo data centre.

You will have a bunch of domain controllers for resource access and control, sitting on Blade servers somewhere. Your telephony system would be on your PBX system on prem. Your email would be on exchange server or lotus server somewhere. You will have your bank of switches and routers linked to a leased line for your networks. You will procure bare metal boxes to provision for Print server, or VPN server

Your developers are maintaining your website on your own servers. Your finance system is maybe Dynamics AX or Sage or something like that. You would have multiple SQL and SSRS boxes for reporting.

Your CRM is probably something like InterAct. The whole thing is probably integrated (if at all) with something like a Biztalk server on prem.

It was around that period that VMware VSphere began to make waves for provisioning and managing virtual machines. Citrix Xenapp was used to create virtual work environments for dumb terminals and the occasional remote worker.

Then AWS took off and practically ended all of this overnight. Azure came on with GCP and practically rendered on prem redundant, with help from kubernetes, docker, etc.. M365 made on prem redundant to the point where even individual software licensing model per user changed forever. The likes of Workday, D365, Oracle Fusion, NetSuite, etc eliminated on prem ERPs. The likes of Boomi, AIS, mulesoft eliminated the on-prem middleware layer.

A lot of the cloud adoption I've seen in the last decade has been driven by PE business model of taking over a business, cutting costs aggressively, setting up a lean operation, and then selling the business for profit in a few years.

Thr only thing that was missing was a remote working culture, which js where Covid comes in. Everything was already in the cloud, all the people that used to be hired to maintain on prem systems had already been fired. As soon as even the workers could also be placed in the cloud, the logical next step was to replace them with with off-shoring, near shoring, and ultimately AI.

That's my theory on why it seems like AI seemingly appeared yesterday and spread like wild fire. I think it's actually an extension of the SaaS industry, which itself is driven by PE.
