UK is just an overrated country. Aside the presence of electricity I dont even see the difference between Nigeria and the UK. I have friends in the UK with the same experience level as I am and they cant even get a job interview despite being there for more than a year o. They will be saying UK experience. As if the javascript written in the UK is different from the one written in Nigeria. Canada is a much better place but an extremely difficult place to survive if you arent well loaded. Australia has made great changes to its post study scheme. I am so glad I followed an uncommon route and I like it so far.

UK has tightened their immigration policies with recent salary threshold of £38700 and care COS restriction.

KPMG has even made it clear they won't hire overseas workers again. That's the resultant effect. The govt wants to push Brits especially people on benefits back to workforce. Apprenticeship especially where there's massive shortages is being supported.

That's the challenge we migrants are facing now and migrants that came especially last year is too high. So demand has significantly increased for declining opportunities (supply).

All these don't mean "apart from electricity, UK is the same as Nigeria". A single night shift here is what professional earn as monthly salary back in Nigeria (with over 50% inflation). Stop capping please.

Japa happens, all the time. People leave the airport every day, they just choose not to make noise.

I slept on my friend's sofa for 3 weeks before moving to an Air bnB (after earning my first paycheck). Stayed in a basement for one month. Then moved to another air bnb (room in a chinese couple home) where I stayed for 3 months. I could not compete for apartment rental for 4 months. All rental applications were rejected due to skin color, lack of canadian rental history, credit history and low credit score. The only landlord that accepted my application in the 4th month demanded for 5 months rent upfront. I can't imagine going through this with dependents. It was not easy.

US has been so hard cuz they no dey give visa again. It’s like they’ve shadowbaned the green passport, but keep collecting money from us for visa — you’re spending nothing less than 1M+ trying to get appointment, especially if you are thinking of the student route — yet denied. Go to Walter Carrington around 6AM to 8AM, and see crowd , only to get denied and money wasted. Most Nigerians now will rather use their money chop fish and open shop for their wives to be selling beans and rice than to waste such money on American visa

This is Canada o. You can imagine countries where the first language isn't English. I migrated to Chile and I planned it well. I even took the pains to find a house from Nigeria and paid a year worth of rent and it was worth it for me to be honest.

The thing is you cant even explain things to people such that they will understand. When people come to my apartment now they will think everything worked out easily but it wasn't. Some people will definitely have it easier but my own experience was harsh and I landed the country as a PR , employer supported me and friend picked me up + housed me for 3weeks

In my opinion, earning $2000 a month in lagos will offer a better quality life than $6000 in toronto. As for cities like Dar es salaam, nairobi and johannesburg the quality of life is much better than in all these western countries provided you are stable
