Is that how you did your English comprehension in School.

The place you underlined was a statement directed to Cyrus, saying "The God of Israel who summons YOU for the sake of Jacob my servant". All the words in that chapter from verse 1 -7 were directed at Cyrus. How exactly was the chapter about Israel? Just because God told Cyrus that He is summoning him to help restore the captivity of Jacob?

And for your information, Israel at the time of Cyrus were suffering for their own sins. After being forewarned by many prophets to no avail. They were being justly punished for their inquiries.

The suffering servant of Isaiah 53 depicted a sinless personality, humble and chaste who made Himself the sacrificial lamb for the sins of others - not for His own sins.

Moreover there is no death and resurrection, which are the Hallmark of Christianity.....

"Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand."

1. In what way did the Lord bruise him and put him to grief because of the sins of others?

2. In what way did the Lord make Israel's soul an offering for sin?


Verse 11 says:
"He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities."

1. In what way can Israel be called His righteous servant?

2, What power does Israel have to justify many?

3, Whose iniquities is Israel bearing or shall bear?


Now, consider the preceding verse 6

6 All we(Israelites) like sheep have gone astray; we(The Israelites) have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him(Someone else- the Messaiah) the iniquity of us all.

How do you reconcile verse 6 with verses 10 and 11?
