Well Done yMcy56 ... You're doing well.

For those that didn't attend the DS AGM ;

Sound bite from Alhaji " The merger was actually postponed because sec wanted the rice mills to start,which now will start commissing the one of Jigawa anytime from now , actually, it might be even better us as shareholders so we can see what we can gain, because we have total of about 1 Million tonnes of capacity, which is almost about 30% of the total national processing capacity in the country. It's not a small capacity. For people that know the one in Lagos , we are five times the size of Lagos and we are spread in about 5 states . On the merger , as soon as we get to a certain... Even though I disagree with SEC , but that is a discussion for another day , we will go back and apply again when the time is right . "

" Our receivables are with big companies like Coca Cola , 7up and co ....your money is quite safe, there is no issue "

" We will try and get out of the Forex mess as soon as possible "

" Backward integration will erase Forex losses by the grace of God in the next four years maximum our company should be producing what we are selling currently, all domestic, 100% domestic ".

Omo GTCO is on the race of it's own. Chai. I wished I bought in at #33

GTCO carries a lot of sentiments for its historical consistency in terms of fundamentals hence when it fell from N54+ to N33, I had little doubt that it would race back up almost immediately.

The CBN instructed banks to implement a 0.5% cybersecurity levy on certain transactions, including to asset management firms. In the coming weeks, if one makes a bank transfer for a N5M investment to any stock brokerage firm , about 25K will be charged and your broker will still chop 4%.

This is not good at all...
So after paying 10% WHT on dividend, when we transfer same funds to our Stock brokerage account, we pay stamp duty + 0.5% again for it to be credited to our online account before we can invest the money!
This is very bad!

There are exemptions so a few ways to legally bypass the rule? I foresee a lot of transaction disputes though.

Transfer fund from same bank as your broker or stick to the investment class exempted?

The implication of all these charges is a secondary charge.
At the end of the day, it's the entity at the bottom of the 'food chain' that bears the brunt... sad

The loophole will be for only the banks to use in extorting customers. It's only the banks that will benefit from it. Like the stamp duty charge where it was clearly spelt out that customers transfer to own account is exempted and banks kept charging customers without recourse to the exemption.
