Hello Nairalanders,

So as the topic implies, have you ever accommodated someone for some period of time and they later Overstayed the time they promised to leave and refused leaving? How did you later get them to leave?

Okay, I'll start by telling mine. There was a time a fellow coursemate of mine begged me to stay at my place for just 3-days (Because she was having some misunderstanding with her roommate) and after that she'd be leaving. I agreed and accommodated her (Coz I was staying alone) entertained her well and made sure she was comfortable for the remainder of the days she'd be staying with me.

So Fast forward to a week after, madam didn't want to go again, 3- days became weeks, and turned into Months. Infact, she was getting more and more relaxed everyday grin her friends that weren't my friends were now trooping my place 24/7, they'll be playing musics, vibing and rocking themselves most of the time while me, the owner of the room is tryna catch some sleep oo. Imagine grin

Long story short, I wanted travelling home to spend some weeks, so I had to plan with my Landlord (He doesn't live in our lodge but visits once a while) so I narrated everything to him (He was Laughing all through) grin and told him my plan of how I wanted to dispose her, I handed a padlock with it's key to him and told him that two days after I travel, he should come and tell her that my house-rent has expired and he'll be coming very early the next day to lock my room, so she should start making arrangements to leave immidiately grin

After the landlord passed the information to her, she called me and was telling me what the landlord said, me on the other hand was raining curses on the landlord o grin grin grin

My brothers and sisters, that was how I got to make that girl leave my room o grin Some Squatters don't just get it that we stay alone because we love our space and privacy, like, we enjoy solitude alot.

So, take this 🎀 and tell us how you later made that stubborn Squatter leave? grin

I hope you're NOT a lazy type? undecided mind you, you must be wiling to sacrifice alot with the person squatting you, and also make sure you help with house chores if need be.. when you leave everything for the person you're squatting at his place to do, it's draining and he'll get tired. You'll then practically look useless to him, become a liability and a burden to him and soonest he will look for a way to kick you out.

Good luck in your search wink

The last guy I accommodated made me swear never to allow such thing happen ever again...... Boy wey I wan teach work o, his phone and some clothes I bought it for him, infact this guy wears my clothes and even my footwears and I see it as a normal thing... This guy brings in different girls and whenever they come in, me and my guys that came to see me will just leave the room.

Worst of it all was that these girls this guy comes in with always find it hard to greet. I don't know if maybe he tells them he's the owner of the room and all that, that made them feel like I was a nobody..... Not until one day when I've had it up to my neck. One faithful day, he came in with one girl like that, that wasn't her first time of coming, I've seen her face before!

So they just entered, I was working on my lappy with some friends and this girl just acted like no one was in the room, like it was only her and the person who just came in and went straight to the bed to lie down, na so I para give this girl, I tell her say you dey mad? How old are you sef? Abi ogun wan dey Kee your papa? Who be your papa mate for here wey dey make you come where men dey you no dey fit greet? Abi you no know say na your boyfriend dey squat for this room? Before I close my eyes open am, if I still see you for this room, you go regret that very day you accept admission into this school... the girl sharply left and the guy followed her, he later came back apologizing to me. I didn't chase him out, I just leave him be till the 2 bedroom flat I wanted packing into was ready and I paid and then came back and packed some of my belongings and left the former room for him!

I later got to hear from a reliable source that he do tell those girls coming over that we are squatting with him, the properties in the room are his and that he's the one who feeds usπŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Little wonder they were acting rude, in their mind they'll be like; my boyfriend is the owner of this room na, so why should I greet these useless squatters.... that kind thingπŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

What do some men gain by winning girls over with lies and deceits? Fear some men!!!!!!!!!!!!

I get your point...

Guys do sometimes become deceitful just to increase reps and prove levels. I don't do it but I take it as what some guys do normal.

One of my friend who used to work for me used to bring girls to my office claiming to be the owner to them... Me I just overlook and excuse him making sure I don't do anything to contradict him. It's somehow normal and part of the Bro code.

But some people are just rude. If really he told them you guys were squatting does it mean they should not greet or be rude because you were squatting?

Maybe na small children mentality anyway!

You have a good and cool landlord. That's all I can say. grin grin grin

This one happens everywhere but in the abroad, the person does not know that their staying in your place will scatter your financial life so they will call you wicked for collecting money from them. I learned a long time ago to not make your house comfortable so they can leave. If they keep complaining or you make their room bad to stay, they will quickly leave. It is a tough one to handle especially with family who take it for granted.

The problem is that they always come to stay with you on a temporary basis but they become too comfortable. The truth is that you will not make decisions quickly where you are comfortable and they will take your goodness for granted instead of knowing that you are just trying to be a good host. If you send them away, they will see you as wicked but that is the best thing you could do for them. People need to be pushed so they can succeed. Everyone will be told that you were a bad host but they will never hear that you treated them better than a 5 star hotel for days. Such is life

I'm okay with accommodating someone who knows how to clean and contribute money for other things. My main issue is when those you accommodate start bringing women home to sacrifice, really?

Here's a tip: Never let the person you're accommodating know when your rent is due. That way, you can use landlord issues to make them leave easily.

But if you're like me and prefer to be straightforward, sit the person down and explain that you don't share your space with people. Let them know that if it weren't for your strong friendship, you wouldn't have allowed them to come over.

Then give them two weeks to sort themselves out.

No go dey form better person oo, experience don teach me better lesson.

See ehnn!!!

E don choke me for throat. She cooked soup on Saturday, ate the food and dumped the plates in the sink till Sunday (yesterday) evening before washing them. She ate food again yesterday evening and left the plate again, to wash this evening again.
My patience level has elapsed. I will call her out today when she returns from work.

I accommodated someone I got to know from a mutual, he wasn't really my friend tho

I had two places then, so he chatted me he has issues with accomodations and needed someone to stay briefly before he sort things out, I accepted foolishly, this boy eventually turned my house into something else, he smokes morning till night, bring different types of girls around, my landlord called me to caution my visitor that his activity was disturbing other people in the house

Spoke with him over the phone to warn him, and lay low.. he claimed he had stopped and the allegations were false

Few days later he resumes, I had to come unannounced and I met several exhibits... I was still very patient with him, so I cautioned him again that it's not acceptable to do these things in my house, went back to my other place again, just for the landlord to call me few weeks later if I don't throw the guy he would invite police, police khe, oya bro park your things and move somewhere else I can't accommodate you anymore.

But because I wasn't around he still lingered a bit before he finally left to another guys place in the same neighborhood, they chased him away cos of his reckless smoking habit

Moving into my fourth year in college, the student who occupied my room space didn't leave. He told the story of how his room application was pending and if I can permit him to squat until it's all settled. He ended up spending the whole session.
