This is the shortest road to have connected Awka to Owerri as envisioned by the federal ministry of works then.
Imo state govt has dualized and lighted the Owerri-Orlu section of this road.

The unbuilt bridge on Urashi River is the reason the Ekwulobia-Orlu section of the road became unused and collapsed.
