The Secret I Kept, My Struggle With Gamble Addiction by Marzz(op): 3:47pm On Jun 05, 2024
I'm sharing my story in hopes of helping others who may be struggling with the same secret. I've been battling a gambling addiction, which has led me down a dangerous path of chasing losses. I once lost three months' worth of salary to online betting, and the shame and guilt I felt were overwhelming. Despite the negative consequences, I continued to gamble, fueled by the false hope of recouping my losses and achieving instant wealth. But the cycle only led to more financial and emotional pain.

I'm now seeking help and support to overcome this addiction and break free from the vicious cycle. If you're struggling with similar issues, know that you're not alone. Let's support each other in our journey towards recovery and healing.

I was once like you, no matter what I type you won't still want to leave it, All it takes is one big painful loss for you to self discipline yourself also deactivate all your betting accounts and count the money lost like when armed robber came to rob you don't try to gain the loss back.

Namaste.

I found them helpful and educating..
Truly, greed and laziness are the basic recipes for betting addiction..
But I'm not lazy not sure if greed tho.

I've lost my entire savings twice to betting.

Just like playing (1.15 odds). With a huge amount of money just to win peanut..
Believing the chance of winning is on the high side..
And that's how I lost the money I've gathered for 5 months for house rent..

I wanted to die that moment 😔

The bigger problem is not greed but false confidence and bad money management

How many times were you certain that a game will turn out in your favour ?

If you were as accurate as you think, wouldn't you be a millionaire or billionaire?

Greed only comes into play, if you have good accuracy but bad money management.

Good money management for gambling is the same for stocks, crypto etc.

You will need to understand terms such as Kelly criterion and read books or watch videos specific to gambling money management

Low odds does not guarantee success in gambling

You should understand that by now

Even if you were successful with this system, and you won eight times out of ten and lost twice

Overall, your acct will still be in the red

Your only chance of beating the system is to have minimum of 4 odds and above average accuracy (50%), and that is next to impossible unless you are very skilled in selecting the games

That is a very wrong assumption, you can beat the system on any odd. Although the higher the odds the higher the profits, likewise the variance. The most important thing is first to ask yourself: is there value in the odds offered? A good majority of bettors use the soft bookie, and experts and market makers use the sharps and betting exchanges. A market where the sharp or exchange odds are higher than that of the softs with enough liquidity will almost always lead to losses for the punter.

In closing except you are match betting, value betting, or arbing you can never make profits from sports betting. If you take 1k from the bookies they will collect 10k from you in the long run, know this and know peace.

We are saying the same thing, of course, you have more detailed knowledge about the subject matter of bookmakers than me.

The point I was making is with those odds(1.15), his chances of making it are slim to none because he would need an accuracy of 90% to be profitable and make it a business, which is impossible.

I made a more detailed post on the subject matter of why it is futile to gamble unless you are a maths expert here:

That is an educative thread I must say, if only punters would go through it. I just don't know why people think betting is easy money or a get rich quick schemes. Most especially Nigeria punters, people are complaining every day of losing their funds to betting, and new bookmakers are springing up every day. And some even think betting is all about being LUCKY. Like you rightly said, you need strong mathematics skills to really make bread from betting. To profit from it you need to become your own bookmaker, compare, and contrast odds and markets.

For a whole week I compare odds being offered by a value bet scanner with those of a Nigerian bookies. With over 877 games I could only find just 29 games with fair odds, that is of course not including 1xbet or it numerous clone sites.

Took this advice and it helped me for real.
It's like a psychological trick to play on the mind..
I convinced myself that I was robbed.. and zeroed my mind from betting totally.

It's been almost a month now since I last bet..

Good news is, I made exactly the amount I lost to betting (my entire savings) back recently..
So, I believe its a total good bye to betting.

I've brainstormed a millions times for different bet patterns..
Nonsense works, the ones that seem to work consumes a tonne of energy with less than 2% interested and it even even against terms and regulations..

So, I believe one can never really win those guys..
Just forsake bet

Definitely bro..

For instance
If you selected 5 different matches..( 1,X or 2)

There are 243 different different possible outcomes.
And you're only playing 1 outcomes..
Mathematically 0.0043 probability of winning..

Lol,
Just lol.
I'm glad I've learnt my lesson early, counted my loss and move on.

Thank you all 😊

Staking low oo, studying all the strategies o..
It will still cut. For real..

The first time I lost a very huge amount of money to betting..(100k plus)

I remembered vividly how it happened..

That particular day..
I was just playing with my phone, strolling through odds and matches on bet9ja.

I calmly selected a few games giving me 10 odds.
I staked with 100 and it won me #1,000..

I was happy and sad..
Happy cos I won.
Sad cos I didn't stake with the 100k sitting In my acct, you know I could have easily won 1M if I had bet woth the 100k.. you see how the devil works 🥵 damnn

So, that evening.
I selected 3 matches
France to win against one small country
Portugal to win also one small country
And Spain to win too..

All the 3 game gave a total of 1.3 odds.
Imagine how small the odds are and how certain the teams appear.
I believed the games was super sure and so, I stake my 100k.
Portugal won by slight escape
Spain won at the last minutes 85 mins ..( I almost had heard attack that night)

The France drew.. they f**king drew the match. 1-1.

And that was how i lost my first huge amount of money to betting..

That day seems like a nightmare..

The first thought that crossed my mind was suicide. Omoh

Except I'm matched betting or have a very high edge, the accumulator is a capital no for me. You compound your probability of loss with each added accumulator, that's why bookies give bonuses for an acca of more than 5 games because they know your chances of winning are very very low. Glad you learnt your lesson and quit, it is the best option no need wasting your funds, time, energy for nothing. How I wish others can take such a bold step.

Hello!
We would like to clarify the way all bets are verified. All bets are settled once the game results are published by the official match source. As soon as the official results are announced, the bet will be calculated by our specialists. The period may vary for different sports, but most often it is from 5 to 72 hours. We analyze the rules and instructions for calculating bets exclusively on official websites. If we have doubts about the correctness of the calculation, we consult sources and carry out verification. If discrepancies are identified, we create a support request to check errors with the participation of official data sources.

It is difficult to consider your particular situation now, since it was a long time ago. But if a request was submitted to check the rate and you received a response, then we can be sure that the check was carried out in accordance with the regulations.
Of course, it is a great pity that in that particular situation the bet was not successful.

We are trying to improve the technical analysis of bets so that the results shown are always accurate.

Best regards,
1xBet Team
