Nah bro. A normal thing for naija.
We are very religious/spiritual.

As per miracle seekers, the country and society has contributed to it.

Look back at the early nineties.... Nigeria has always been very religion centred especially Christianity. And back then the citizens had far less troubles that warranted them to go seek for help in churches.
What most people are looking for is not miracle but magic. How do you explain someone that left is working place on Monday morning and goes to one mountain seeking magic, sorry miracle.

Presently, the world is suffering

This is because, majority of the people have forgotten their creator.

We should be more involved in thanking God for all he has done.

Yesterday night my yahoo boy cousin asked me if I believed in God of the Bible and I said yes , yes because I feel the substances of God when ever I resort to him

Last week or so, I heard a series of hard night mares, with violent sleep paralysis, I woke up and rebutted it with prayers, reading psalm. 91, 27,35 and pleading the blood of Jesus. I put my Bible on my chest praying like 2 or 3 days , I noticed my spirit become very strong and the attack couldn't d penetrate it again

I haven't gotten the money yet, but Jehova is alive for me, be it in Ontario, Helsinki or Gbagada,
He's God everywhere and everyday

However ,the burdens in Africa will certainly make the people asking much for a supernatural interventions than people in the easier climes, and that equally depends ,because human beings are in essence looking for fulfilments in their lives

People in Melbourne might be seeking for a higher fulfillments , while people from Abakiliki might be asking for the basics

Both ways the name of God is the only assurance , who giveth to the needy and the poor , to worshippers and to non worshipers

Because they see you don't need to pray to get things u want

U don't pray for healing u have free health care

You don't pray for job there are high paying jobs if u have the qualification

You don't pray for admission

You don't really pray for food, safety and the rest

We pray so much in Nigeria because Nigeria is a jungle where animals in humans form dwell.

Nigerians are filled with evils, committing all sorts of iniquities and crimes, both young and old.

We are less busy in Nigeria but it seems Baba Tinubu policy has given us more work to do now.
Some churches that used to full to the brim have drastically reduced.
We are now more center on God than Clerics

Religion is quite complicated if you enlighten yourself on human history especially how medieval Europeans lived and the how cruel Arabs were.

Religion breeds values that help humans to live in peace, fairness and togetherness, unfortunately arabs and Europeans continue to twist it to suit themselves. Recently African pastors and imams.

Africans were the best of all. We had organised systems and we always believed in God in our way.
You are right, religions help brought sanity to humanity in the past to some extent. But religions had served its purpose and has outlived its usefulness. Law has has taken over, religions are now one big scam!

However, the level of societal advancement in the West is not an indictment on religion, spirituality or the existence of God. It only means we need formidable institutional structures in Africa. When viable structures, we can back up the process of growth and development with spirituality
Osahon George Osayimwen is a UK-based journalist.
Indeed, the advancement you see in the West is an indictment on religion!

Europe wasn't always advanced from the beginning, in fact, the rest of the world used to be ahead of them.

1,500 years ago, Europe was more religious than Africa is today. At that time everything was associated to God.

If the rain didn't begin on time- it was the wrath of God
If there was a pandemic - it was the wrath of God. Example; in the great plagues in Europe, instead of scientists (which they didn't have due to religion) they were busy praying for God's intervention- just as we do in Africa today.

Early European scientists were killed for coming up with "man's knowledge" against God.

It continued that way until what they call the renaissance period, which birthed the enlightened period. That's when they began to reject God. Then, it further birthed the science revolution in Europe. That's how Europe set themselves free.

Once Rome and Greece lost power over the rest of Europe, all European nations returned to speaking their native languages and using it to acquire knowledge. That's what set the intellect free in Europe.

The same thing was almost about to happen in Africa after our independence but Britain stopped it.

If in 1962, at the Makerere conference in Uganda, the African authors rejected European languages as the language of literature in Africa, we would have returned to speaking, writing and learning in our native languages. This would have set up domino effects of rejecting everything else our African ancestors didn't create, including the white man's God. That's when the same cultural revolution that set Europe free would have happened in Africa too. Sadly, the evil genius country Britain knew this in advance, and that's why they called the conference to stop it.

Both on the right and left side of the Ibadan expressway is filled up with churches and other various worship centres who bought several thousand plots of land just for the sake of building a place in other to swindle people and you begin to think what is really the problem with us as countryhuh

Just imagine if those place are factories for productions or even farmlands, I'm not sure the country would be so messed up the way it is right now. Truly government have their own fault but we the citizens too have a lot of faults too especially those who are rich enough to site an establishment to help the economy but chose to build big churches all round the country.
The annoying thing is how these super rich people talk down on everything Nigerian.
Quite commonly, they'd say, nigerian lawyers, engineers, doctors, lecturers e.t.c are bad. Hkw they cannot attemd a Nigerian hospital or drive a Nigerian made car e.t.c but someone Nigerian churches and pastors are the best. Quite comical.
We are a product of our society.

A good change would be to start mandating transparency and making it law for these churches/mosques to publish their and the government plays its role by emancipating the people from poverty

These are the people who pollute minds with their articles, making it seem as if God isn't answering prayers in Africa. You live in the UK—why not consider why the suicide rate is higher in the West compared to Nigeria and other African nations, despite the supposedly easier environment? Folks, let's continue to pray and ignore people like this individual who wants you to believe that prayer is a waste of time.
Why just pick suicide and not the overall premature death rate e.g by accidents, kidnapping, building collapse, preventable or fairly treatable illnesses, hunger e.t.c which are out top prayer points

Faith in God has little to do with the condition we find ourselves so if it's the situation of things in Nigeria that prompted your religiosity then know that your god is not the same as the Bible God but your belly! Philippians 3:19

The "herd mentality" of lemmings.

Praying to the Sun God (or Sol Invictus) as an ancient pagan rite via social conditioning truly succeeded in the modern era most especially in the developing and underdeveloped regions of this planet.

The God of Riches is the God of the Richest!

Only a fool will follow and worship a black god!
Its the effect of neo-colonialism. Over time, you've been shaped to associate God/Godly to the colour of another.

Always remember the main reasin you are a Christian is cos someone colonised your forefathers and forced religion upon them and you now believe that all your ancestors that existed before colonialism or others who dont follow what was forced on you are going to hell. Think through that and see how neo-colonialism makes you little

Ask the average Nigerian to describe their idea of God and Jesus and 99.9% of them would describe a WHITE man.

When they travel abroad, they are surrounded by white people. They are in heaven. The fact that 100% of the problems plaguing them in Nigeria has already been solved by the white people in the new country HELPS.

Religion reigns SUPREME where poverty and ignorance is prevalent. The poorer and less educated a people are, the more susceptible they are to religious MANIPULATIONS.

That's why the core Northern parts of Nigeria is a hot bed for religious EXTREMISM. Poverty and lack of education makes them easier to brainwash.
The major problem with Africans is, they don't practice and do what religion says in other aspect of their lives. All religions say "work despite having faith" prayers and work have a ratio, if you don't balance them well, you won't see the desired outcome say work/prayer 60/40. But most Nigerians only pray without working. But they know they have to go farm to cultivate prayers alone will not provide food. The only thing white people did differently is applying this formula in every aspect of their life .

Secondly, when you talk pls expand your scope, what happened to the the Arabs, Russians, etc that still practice religion more then we do in Nigeria.

Lastly, worshipping God is compulsory irrespective of your wealth, king Solomon, many King and empires worship God simply because man is made of body and soul and that soul nothing can give it peace except spirituality (God) ,this is why atheist are like animals, they behave anyhow and can are always depressed because they don't have God in their lives, and we human beings are from God so without God we are nothing.

Worshipping God doesn't make a person broke or rich, it's God decision, many prophets were not rich except few of them and is not all Europeans and Americans that are rich, they are still destitute among them, not seeing them doesn't mean they don't exist.
The formula is simple work and pray in ration that will give you result and generalise it.

You're forming civilization now. Who Brought the religion? The abroad. They were more religious than us. Religion brought education to us. Just as you think they're not religion like us so shall it be when success touches the African soil. Watch out.

Religion is a fantasy only useful to poor and ignorant people who need salvation from a brutal and impoverished country like Nigeria. In the West, hard work and education are your salvation.
Re: Why Do Nigerians Become Less Religious When They Travel Abroad? by Honestey: 3:38pm On Jun 23, 2024
Because getting to abroad was a prayers answered already. They just felt all they needs now is waking up to work unlike in Nigeria where you work work and work only to spend years still unable to make life better for yourself let alone your children simply because you don't hold political post. However, one day, reverse will be the case in Nigeria too
Re: Why Do Nigerians Become Less Religious When They Travel Abroad? by almayda: 3:40pm On Jun 23, 2024
The motive that fuelled the passion for the religion are there(Abroad) on a plater, you only have to work hard to get them, here in Nigeria, with your hard work, you may still not get it,so you need the religion to compliment your efforts.
