In my opinion, people buying NB are basing their hopes on a company they once knew, not the current reality on the ground. NB will sell for 15 naira or below when things become clearer (negative equity already). It's a very risky stock; I would stay clear of that one.

I reviewed my portfolio at the close of business today, August 26th and faced a harsh reality, my NGX portfolio had incurred a paper loss of over NGN8M.
"NGX is a gamble 🎰 "
This reminded me of Warren Buffett's recent letter to Berkshire Hathaway shareholders, where he described the modern stock market as a casino. It's time for me to shift from being an investor to a regular trader. I'm following all the traders in this forum closely.
Investing (or 'farming') has become a dangerous profession, while trading (or 'hunting') is more lucrative. I'll be trading with all the resources and tools at my disposal. The good news for traders in NGX is that the market is relatively unsophisticated, with no derivatives, options trading, or leveraging, no shorting.
Additionally, stock prices are capped at a daily fluctuation of ±10%, meaning they cannot appreciate or decline more than 10% in a single day. This is music to my brokers' ears, I'm sure.

It's amazing how you're enlightened enough to read Warren Buffetts letters but end up following the exact path he preaches against...

God speed in your new foray... May it not lead to even more losses for you...

Because you don't rebalance your portfolio, I told you to book profit on Transcorp Hotel that the price does not make sense at over N100

Have you forgotten that United Capital was marked down, with your 600,000 units of UCAP that alone would reduce your portfolio value by about N10 million until the 1.2 million bonus shares are credited to your CSCS account .

It is always interesting when people focus on money to be made when prices go up but IGNORE the possibility of losses when prices go down. A lot of crypto mentality of quick money to be made at play. People tend to forget that the ORIGINAL design of the capital market is to create access to capital market.

When you join people trading you did not ask what percentage of their capital are they using. You joined using your entire capital and now you are complaining.

When people were using less than 0.0001% of their portfolio to buy OandO and shouting 100% profit. You also joined with 100% of your portfolio and now that almost 50% loss is starring you at the face you are angry! Angry with who? Were you planning to share the profit with anyone? Why do you expect anyone to share in your pain or misery!

There is always upside and downside risks. Know how you will manage both and Know PEACE

This is still September. New academic session has just started. NSE (sorry now NGX) is collecting school fees!

Kindly pay your fees quietly and don't disturb anyone.

Teach them the right values of hardwork, diligence, honesty, delayed gratification, humility, money management, frugality etc.

There is reason why generational wealth is not common in this part of the world

This mentality is why are leaders are piling up debts for the unborn generation.

How many of them ready to learn anything serious?

Let us face it, many kids from average to affluence homes feel a large level of entitlement particularly when you thought you were doing the right thing allowing them enjoy the money you worked hard for and give them a life you did not have.

Some even take it a step further and start turning gay because in your benevolence, you send them go abroad.

There is a difference between those who made money from business and those who made money from politics.

Those who made money from business and investment are doing a better work passing the knowledge and values compared to the other group.

My opinion though

The worst case is civil servants. They can't take their children to work and teach them anything. They can only send them to school and only God knows how they will turn out. They see money with you and they don't know what you did to get it so they think they don't have to do anything in life.

This assumption is totally false about rich kids belonging to those with generational wealth. It is the 'i never chop ' parents who found sudden wealth treat their children with entitlement.Generational wealth is not an automatic thing, you need to successfully pass a skill to the next generation.

Most billionaires in Nigeria dwell on bank loans so there is no way they can pass such wealth to the next generation.
if your build your empire on a certain skilll and teach your children they will take it to greater heights.
Most African parents teach their children how to spend money not how to make it.
They believe sending you to school is the best gift a child can get from his parents. Like a Jewish saying 'if you dont teach a child how to make money, you are teaching them how to steal'.

Afreximbank that gave a loan of $650m did not look at the past performance of Oando aka FA, rather the future potential. A lot of people missed Oando because they were judging the company based on its past.

Oando is now the operator of the upstream assets and are already taking the bull by the horn with fantastic projections based on a presentation they did yesterday.

It's still not too late to enter for those still interested.
