Family and relationships lawyers in the house, please help on this topic. The husband-to-be, has insisted that the wife-to-be, won't be taking his own surname(Jackson) but only his first name (Felix) as her "married surname", when they get married in 3month's time. Is this viable and any consequence that comes with it in the future? e.g when processing travelling documents to get out of the country as couples?

If she's willing to drop her name for his first name , it should be updated in NIN to capture in her passport.

He wants to do away with the surname, as the surname is his grandfather's name and wouldn't want his wife or children to bear it.

very strange request but as this is his wish, then so be it... nothing to it.

So I had him sat down and talked with him... This particular surname (his grandfather's name) is a Muslim name, his dad and mum are now Christians like likewise himself. So he told me he doesn't want to pass Muslim names down to his wife and children.

My business is looking out that nothing hurts my loved ones, either short or long term.
