Has anyone here during their MSc application to Ulster university or any other universities been asked to “Provide supporting documents to address name discrepancy on WAEC certificate”?

For proper context, my WAEC certificate has my last name fully written however my first & middle names were abbreviated. Something like this {Adebiri J K}.

I lost as to how to navigate this, if it’s something a simple affidavit could fix or might have to get it fixed at WAEC.

Kindly advise house! Thanks in anticipation of your inputs!

Applied: Friday 6th of September
Biometrics: Wednesday 11th of September
Transferred to DMC: Wednesday 11th of September
Received by DMC:Friday 13th of September
Transferred to and Received by VAC: Wednesday 18th of September
BRP mail/DHL Delivery: Thursday 19th of September

Although my BRP letter was dated the Monday, the 16th of September.

I had discrepancies on the DOB on my waec I swore an affidavit submitted and it was accepted on the portal.

If my course is a 2year course eg. Occupational therapy,
1) The fee of 18k per year that means it would be 18k x2 for the two years?
2) If Yes am I going to show POF for 36k or 18k

He ask me series of questions with a straight face.

This is how the conversation goes

Me: Hello good morning,

Officer: Your passport please, which country did you come from ?

Officer: Why have you come to the uk?

Me: I’m here for my master degree

Officer: which course will you be studying?

Me: Msc business analytics and big data

Officer: Do you have your CAS letter with you?

Me: Yea sir

Officer: Let me see it

Me: I brought out my phone and showed him.

Officer: which course did you say you are going to study again?

Me: Told him business analytics and big data.

Officer: do you mean to say Business Analysis ?

Me: No, it’s business analytics sir (the whole time he was looking at the CAS) I’m sure he just said the business analysis just to see if I know what I’m saying.

Officer: How much have you paid from your fees ?

Me: I have paid £2000 and I also have £7500 schorlaship from them.

Officer: wow, £7500, how did you get this much schorlaship?

Me: I think I submitted a very strong application, the school was also impressed by my undergraduate degree transcript, and my SOP.

Officer: How are you going to pay your tuition balance?

Me: I have personal savings and support from my family, I have the money ready.

Officer: You said personal money, how did you get that much money.

Me: I have been working as a freelance writer for the past 7years, I get most of my client from fiverr and Upwork.

Officer: nodded is head and said impressive.

Where will you be staying? Did you pay for school hostel or you will be staying at Airbnb?

Me: I will be staying with a family friend in Leeds till on Sunday (when I said this, his facial expression changed abit, before moving to Liverpool.

Officer: Do you have the address of the place you are going in Leeds ?

Me: Yes sir

Officer: Let me see it (so he gave me my phone back)

I then go to whatsapp to show him the address.

Officer: how will you get to Leeds from here ?

Me: I already booked a train for this morning sir.

So he looked at the passport again and gave me a big smile 😃 and said Welcome to the United Kingdom.

Note: The man interviews one black guy before me, he drilled him alot and collected his passport, I don’t what happen buh the guy left to see another officer which I Beleive to be there supervisor, he came back and stand behind me sha.

I got a conditional offer at York St John University, York campus.

I'd love to get a few information from students currently studying there and from people with information about the school and town;

1. How easy is it to get jobs in York, heard it is a tourist town
2. Given that it is a tourist town, rents are on the high side. Is it possible to reside in a neighboring town with affordable housing?
3. Lastly, is it possible to sort out accommodation from Nigeria before arriving York, to avoid being stranded? If yes, how does one go about it.

Apply for Masters by research in uk university and be sure to confirm from the sch if it's a research or taught program. You can't go with dependant with the taught program.

The fee is 8500 pounds total. But you get 1500 international students scholarship so you're paying 7k. The deposit is 4000 pounds b4 CAS.. Note doesn't apply for all course. What's ur field of study?
