You are still better than me. I bought large volume of the stock with 80% of my trading account. My investment in Oando couldn't offset the loss I recorded in Dangsugar.
The problem is liquidity, if you have money for a long term investment I would have advised you not to sell. I have no doubt that Dangote Sugar and NASCON will bounce back, Alhaji will grow those business, refinery has opened FX liquidity for Dangote.

Always have a game plan for your loot

Don't be like the guy who turn $88,000 to about $400 million, but still lost his wealth

Consistency is very important.

On the long run 99% of gamblers will lose

We small investors are investing to make money and grow our portfolio, unlike the HNIs who are after board control.

You haven't seen anything. Ask farmers in the southern United States about wild pig infestations. They're constantly killing these pigs by the hundreds as the animals destroy farmland. In those areas, farmers beg people to hunt and kill as many pigs as possible. grin grin cheesy

Imagine he had to sell his shares at a loss in order to pay his margin loans, meaning he was over leveraged, his portfolio did not generate cash flow, he was not diversified, does not have multiple streams of income

I guess he was concerned on how his $400 million would grow to $1 billion, not knowing he could find himself in ground zero

The bolded was the reason I invested in the company. I took out 60% of my total trading account 3 months ago and I invested the money in MMF. The remaining 40% in my trading account, I used 80% of it to invest in Dangsugar, then the remaining 20% was for jijo stock. I will definitely load more of Sugar next month irrespective of their results. The Dangote Refinery will definitely take care of its FX loss next year. The stock will definitely trade up to #150 within next two years without merger.

Na lie, we will always continue to raise the bar.

Good to know when you are gambling and when you are investing.

Good to know when you are lucky and when you have done a thorough research

The money left the way it came

Some of us who made money from penny stocks in 2006 to 2008 can relate with what happened to the guy

It is easier said than done, all human being has tendency of greed that's why economist says human want are insatiable. There are people who has made over 500% margin on O&O but still hold on it.

Learning is actually a continuous thing. In Nov 2000, I actually penciled down some stocks at the following prices Nestle (N1400), Airtel (N535), Dangote Cement (N205), MTN (N155), Okomu (N80), Bua Cement (N56),FCMB (N8.40) and Fidelity ( N2.60). I actually entered the penny ones because I felt there will be room for growth. I left out the expensive ones because I felt if dividend is paid because of my small units it won't amount to much. Also the rate of price appreciation of expensive shares is low. But, I really never thought about it the way you explained it. Moreso, from my the list I made out here some had doubled or tripled in price while some had lost value.
But the lesson learned today go for any share that is doing well irrespective of the price range as they are all bound by the same 10% appreciation or depreciation. Thanks for the insight.
MTN, DANGCEM and BUACEM we're not listed in the year 2000.

My account officer in a stockbroking firm was earning less than N2 million per annum in 2008, the guy called Hakeem built a portfolio of ocer N30 million, had the opportunity to buy a block of 4 flats at Agege for around N8 million from a desperate seller but he kept on buying more penny stocks, insurance stocks , private placements, High Yield Investment Schemes of Nospetco and Sefteg until he found himself at ground zero.

The stockbroking firm closed shop in 2014.

Hakeem is now a farmer, doing averagely well but still found it extremely difficult to forgive himself

True talk
But over the years, I have been able to tame that tendency
Once there is a healthy margin
I take profits and lock in money markets

What is driving Ellah? They invited a broker friend of mine over a few weeks ago and he told me nothing is really going on there besides piggery at the moment
Thanks for this very important disclosure. Could it be that the stockbrokers weren't taken to the plantations, even though they are not yet fruiting? Or could it be that the plantations are audio? @Sunrisepebble, we would appreciate if you could find out exactly what they were shown and told while on that visit. Inviting journalists should have been better though, even though those can be corrupted to report what you want them to report.

Bottomline is: the more the raw independent information is provided, the better, to allow investors make their own conclusions.

Disclosure: I'm not buying yet.

Have you ever heard the story of the 5 Monkeys Experiment?

5 monkeys were placed in a cage as part of an experiment. In the middle of the cage was a ladder with bananas on the top rung. Every time a monkey tried to climb the ladder, the experimenter sprayed all of the monkeys with icy water. Eventually, each time a monkey started to climb the ladder, the other ones pulled him off and beat him up so they could avoid the icy spray. Soon, no monkey dared go up the ladder.

The experimenter then substituted one of the monkeys in the cage with a new monkey. The first thing the new monkey did was try to climb the ladder to reach the bananas. After several beatings, the new monkey learned the social norm. He never knew “why” the other monkeys wouldn’t let him go for the bananas because he had never been sprayed with ice water, but he quickly learned that this behaviour would not be tolerated by the other monkeys.

One by one, each of the monkeys in the cage was substituted for a new monkey until none of the original group remained. Every time a new monkey went up the ladder, the rest of the group pulled him off, even those who had never been sprayed with the icy water.

By the end of the experiment, the 5 monkeys in the cage had learned to follow the rule, without any of them knowing the reason why.
