To your last point, migration didn't start in 2015. People have been migrating before then. The thing now is lots more people want to migrate for obvious reasons and they are now getting desperate. This is just not only Nigeria. The rate of migration since after covid has tripled globally and the reason is that almost all countries of the world suffered economic decline after covid and the worst hit are 3rd world countries.

Truth be told, those Nigerians in Canada dey hear am. At this point, even the UK is a bit better than Canada especially in the area of jobs. The latter is not even a global leader in any key industry, and good jobs are very scarce.

Now, it's very difficult to get almost any kind of visa to Canada now. A simple LinkedIn search on "Jobs in Canada" results in 272k jobs; For the UK it's 650k; and the US is 5.8M jobs.

If any miracle happens and Nigeria's economy returns to near pre-2015 and security improves, I'm almost certain that most of those those in Canada will fly back!

Now, who taught you in today's world to strictly correlate population with the strength of the economy and number of job openings available?

Japan is is the world's 4th largest economy with 125m people and has 609k jobs advertised; Italy is the 9th largest economy with 58m and has only 168k jobs. Now in a deep contrast, China is the second largest economy with 1.4 bn people, yet it has 1.2m jobs.

In these scenarios, we see that UK with a much smaller population has slightly more jobs than Japan, which ranks ahead of it in both population and economy.

Then also, Italy with a larger population and economy than Canada has significantly lower job opening than the latter.

The same holds for the US too, there's a stark disparity in the job openings when compared to China and these two economies are the top two in the world, with China having a whole lot more population than the US.

Bringing it down to Africa, if we are to go by your "statistics", Nigeria ought to have the largest number of job openings in Africa, but is that the case?

She just paid the third year school fees of her son but she needed double more naira to pay the fees even though the school fees in Canadian Dollars was still the same as what she paid for her son 2 years ago. She had to sell one of her properties to raise the money cos the son can't drop out at this stage. If naira was stable it won't be this bad for students at least.

He's one of the most respected Muslim figure across the world till today. He's respected for his integrity, generosity, chivalry, kindnesses and godliness—this is the reason I chose his name as my monicker.

I think the main issue is the facade/glamour associated with living in western country is fading away and the reality is settling in for both natives and foreigners.
western countries no longer offers that ideal golden serene environment anymore. Most of them now struggle with low income for middle class, inequality, rising cost of living, chronic wage stagnation, crumbling infrastructure, moral decadence, safety issue, social crisis, uncontrolled immigration etc

People are now realizing they could be better off elsewhere. Recently, there's been a progressive exodus of westerners to dubai, Malaysia, and Qatar. Nowadays, it's about where you can realize your dream. QED.
Of course, the west still has a lot to offer esp in terms of job security and opportunities esp in skilled areas. But it's high time migrants from developing nation abandon the idea u can just come to canada without any plan and hope to make something out of it.
