Let me also add this. The electricity infrastructure in Nigeria is well outdated. It's radial in structure and lacks redundancy. It's capacity is below what we can generate and very susceptible to failures... Nameplate capacity is around 13GW Operational capacity is around 6GW (<50%) ![]() Transmission (wheeling) capacity is circa 8.1GW. This is where the real problem lies... |

Proposed solution: 1. Issue licenses for the full electricity spectrum - Generate, Transmit and Distribute. 2. OR Issue a single license to energy companies for Transmission and Distribution. That's one sure way to ensure reliability of the Network... KarlTom: |

Good morning everyone, please I need a little help. I had registered with a stockbroker some years back. I discovered he is no longer a listed member. I requested he transfered my shares to any of the two houses of my choice i operate with. But, instead he took my shares to another stockbroking house ( without my consent). He claims he is still a sub - stockbroker ( wonder if there is anything like that). Now, I needed to trade on my shares, he now sent a link for me to fill registration form afresh as if I am just registering with this new broker. I declined doing that. So, I requested from one of my two other brokers to initiate a move to transfer my shares. Now, I had filled several forms, submitted several documents and up till now this shares are yet to be transferred. In fact, the latest I hear the other house is requesting is my utility bill. Unfortunately, I am not the owner of the house and the utility bill bears the name of my landlord. I really don't know why shares matters are very difficult. Why is this stockbroking house trying to frustrate my efforts. To enter into share matter is very easy. But, when you have little issues, you begin to fill Jamb forms for a little request to be granted. Since, I have tried all possible to reclaim my shares from this broker and they are kind of using technicalities to hold onto it. I am thinking of filling the new registration form and joining a new broker (making it a third house) But, if anyone can be of help here, I won't mind. I just hate doing things against my will. This particular stockbroker is just arm twisting me to retain my little portfolio. In my language we use to say I don't buy or sell should not bring any issue. But, contrary is the case here. I am very sure someone here will give a hint how I can get my shares back from this broker. |

Good morning everyone I think we are in a time to reap some fruits out of the little we have sown. After all consultations and due diligence,I stand on my previous mandate. Like oando Like Japaul. It's going to be a very long run and all eyes will see and not believe what their eyes will see.The ogas on top have picked almost the shares on free floats and about to leave the stock to respond to the calls on the chart. Hold Hold Hold Hold Hold Hold Hold Hold. Had I known is around the corner. Japaul 💯% |

jonnysessy:Nigeria is different from the "abroad" where the utility bills have to be on your name as a PoA. In Nigeria, the utility bills need to only reflect the address you have provided in your contact details. Get the utility bill from the address and send to your broker. That shouldn't be a difficult thing to do. Please don't give up, you are closer to the finishing line than you think. A worst case scenario is to sell your entire stockholding with this broker and move on without looking back. |

Further to that I will prefer selling off my holding with the said broker and use the proceed to buy into the desired broker!! This is if u know their office oo .to avoid another story!! |

Harvestock01:Thanks for your input sir. Our people used to say it is better to cut the elephant tail than let it escape. I probably will re-register and sell-off every shares and he, takes his commission and I will re-enter with the stockbroker i have confidence in. |

But this is not the case Stanbic IBTC Stockbrokers Limited. You have to provide utility bill that bears your name. I am technically stuck with them because of that. Unfortunately, I can't even sell my holdings or withdraw. After opening the account it was dormant in less than two months, without notice. They are now telling me that I should provide a Stanbic bank account, etc. I still don't have their time yet; I don't have much there. My old certificate that I want to demat are also with them for close to three months now. They kept pushing me here and there. Harvestock01: |

I'm all for a single licence for the Generation, Transmission and Distribution arm of the power sector. The fact remains that we need policies that will finally dismantle that TCN of an entity and allow different players to come in while Govt create a body solely for regulation. It is only here that govt wants to be the producer, off-taker as well as regulator. Too many idle assets either need to be sold off to willing buyers or they should just go the joint venture route (JV). In the end, you need will and solid policies to back this up. |
