Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by phadriz(m):
Okay sir, but are you a diasporan?

Can you get us the remittance for the past 3 years to check if there is significant change?

Those in Nigeria are even savings in dollars, but you think is those in abroad that will keep their money in naira because of 20+ interest rate that will wipe out by inflation & FX risk.

atigro:
You need to catch up with the reality. You dont have an idea how the diasporan's are impacting Nigeria economy positively. The japa effect is on full gear and its rewards is dripping in gradually. This new crop of Nigerians came prepared. Real estates, banks, fmcg, transports,TB,funds with institutional investors etc. Infact the current uncertainty in immigration is making every diasporan apprehensive and making them make wise decisions. No more unnecessary frivolities.
Diasporan remittances is not a joke because the way people are working their ass out is on an unprecedented level. So it's beyond "survival money" okay. Stop playing!

Oga. They didn't cancel the Ministry of the Niger Delta. They only changed the name and brought in other similar regional development Commissions. We need to help reduce the tension in our country not increase it with such dangerous rumors.
There will be difference in the structure, this thing is mine, is different from this thing is ours.

I know that the ministry wasn't that beneficial to the poor people of N/D, but the crook leaders who are stealing the ministry funds will start sponsoring unrest in that region to threaten the govt.

What's the latest news on Okomu Oil Palm Plc insecurity issues?

Is Okomu good to buy now or switch to PRESCO which is at ATH?

I have learnt a lot from the good, the bad and the ugly. I take every side of discuss very seriously here.

One thing I have personally realised is that to make good money on the NGX, one need to invest at least a million naira per stock on your portfolio. Some stock movement might not happen again in a lifetime.... When these big moves happens, it ought to set you up financially but if you invest little, the share price fantastic movement will only give you peanut.

I was reviewing my portfolio this morning, I realised that my Ellah Lake shares have done almost 100% ROI but Na just one bag of rice I can buy with that fantastic movement. I used only about 2% of my portfolio to purchase the Ellahlake.

I don't want to make that same mistake with Access Bank.

I don't post to win an argument but to pass a message, I intentionally delete that because I know it will move to another side of argument but since you read it someone already replied it I will explain for you to understand.

Like you said the person will send in £100 does it mean the person has increase the money sent home? No is only the naira value that increase due to devaluation. Pre 2022, diasporans send in FX but now they do currency swap among themselves instead of sending FX home. Mr A need 1m naira to send to people in Nigeria, he will post on different WhatsApp groups and give someone who has naira to swap his pounds. By doing that the FX inflow to Nigeria won't improve, it just recirculation of naira. The worst he will do is to go to Lemfi and other Fintech app to sell. How many people do you see on western Union desk in the bank unlike before?

You said prices of land are going up because diasporans are rushing it. No sir, land prices are going up due to devaluation and general inflation. I can tell you that people who japa in 2021 & early 2022 to the UK are now at the stage of getting mortgage, some are even selling their houses in Nigeria to use for mortgage deposit, this is fact I don't do guess talk.

On Unilever, looking at the P&L of the Q3 reports you will say the company did better, but I don't just look at that, 2023 result wasn't okay majorly due to the loss on discontinued operations, if you check their cash flow you will a significant drop in their liquidity, check the current assets there is a significant increase in trade receivable and inventories, also their current liabilities has grown with over 33% those are not a good signs for me. Don't just look at P&L to judge a company performance. In corporate finance liquidity is key. Other manufacturing companies are yet to release Q3, but their Q2 is worse. My point goes back to the fact that if the economy doesn't improve manufacturers will suffer more. If purchasing power of the people keep going down, crime rate rate will increase, we may start seeing warehouses & banks looting.
ok I disagree with most of what you assumed thr but won't drag it further. I don't have such time and strength. 2025 is around the corner then the exchange will give the resul by yr end...cheers

You are focusing on the worker buying lesser items even with over 100% increase in their Salaries. What I am looking at is companies getting more cash volume from from sales.

The additional ₦10trillion - ₦15trillion will end up in banks and also flow to companies as payment for goods and services, won't that have a positive outlook for stock prices?

Let's be discussing with understanding. If the minimum wage was ₦30,000 and is now ₦70,000, consider how many federal and state government workers there are in Nigeria. Multiply those numbers and you'll see where these figures are coming from.

Now, everyone is talking about minimum wage, but do you realize some people's salaries will increase from ₦10 million to ₦14 million per year, while others will move from ₦4 million to ₦6 million, depending on their level?

I don't understand the arguments you and the other person are making. Even if they only add ₦1,000 to your salary, your purchasing power is now higher than before - at least you can afford an additional bottle of Hero beer. shocked shocked shocked

Besides, all these millions and thousands of naira are now overrated. As Soludo proposed during his tenure as CBN Governor, we should remove one zero from all denominations - ₦100 should become ₦10.

Similarly, when you hear ₦350,000, it should be ₦35,000, and a ₦5 million transaction should be ₦500,000.

This redenomination would help us better understand the real value of our currency. All these thousands we're throwing around are inflated figures. Under this system, the dollar would be worth approximately ₦160.

Mr. Osita, I expect you to understand that the increase in salaries and wages (which most times happens once a year)is nothing compared to how much the prices of goods and services have increased. Heck what you bought for 1 naira today, has more than doubled in a month such that most have resort to buying less quantity for same price compared to what they could afford before. While some others can't even afford even half of what they're used to because despite the so called "increase" in salaries, but in real terms have lesser purchasing power. Same goes for those that their "4m" salary increased to "6m". Their tastes don't even have to change for them to realize that they can no longer easily afford what they're used to.

Mrs. Gina, we all understand that, but I can assure you that people must eat - the essentials must be purchased. Previously, we had an over-reliance on imported goods, but that will now decrease.

I used to have friends who bought new phones every year; such wasteful spending will now reduce.

Most companies in Nigeria sell essential items, so they will continue generating revenue. It's the wasteful spending that will decline.

When considering buying that expensive imported lotion, you'll think twice - after all, we have our local palm kernel oil (ude aku grin), lol. shocked shocked shocked

This doesn't stop your currency falling further once you make the mistake of dollarizing your economy like we have done. A case in point is Ghana. They removed all the zeros and forced back to 1cedi=$1. Today they have slid down to 16cedi=$1 and counting. That is 16x fall in the currency.
