Any insurance people here? I’m looking at Mansards H1 financials (eps 2.65) alongside their earnings forecasts for Q3 and Q4. What I’m seeing here and based on my calculations they’re forecasting an EPS of #7.5 for year. Currently trading at a PE of 2x. Is this an opportunity or am I not looking at it correctly

NB; I own no single units of the stock

I started buying Nigeria stocks after I discover this thread.

I have learnt a lot from the good, the bad and the ugly. I take every side of discuss very seriously here.

One thing I have personally realised is that to make good money on the NGX, one need to invest at least a million naira per stock on your portfolio. Some stock movement might not happen again in a lifetime.... When these big moves happens, it ought to set you up financially but if you invest little, the share price fantastic movement will only give you peanut.

I was reviewing my portfolio this morning, I realised that my Ellah Lake shares have done almost 100% ROI but Na just one bag of rice I can buy with that fantastic movement. I used only about 2% of my portfolio to purchase the Ellahlake.

I don't want to make that same mistake with Access Bank.
Yes indeed, but more importantly selling at the right time after holding can be a skill to develop. I got 100k units of Oando with 1.2m but sold 95% @ less than 25. My first Bank shares were bought @5 but it has just 500 units left in it.

Ultimately timing is the most difficult and unpredictable part of this business and no one can claim to be perfect with timing the market but I believe one can work towards perfection.

Happy birthday street, greater blessings on you in the new year

All I know is we are having stock boom next yr.The dollars coming from Nigerians abroad will continue to increase. Nigeria will have more trade surplus. I have plenty friends in onitsha who have stopped importation because of rise in exchange rate. Some are already export one thing or the other. Many are planning and looking for what to export. The Chinese companies are relocating thr factories to naija in most buildings material I know. Why the cost of the little food we are cultivating because of insecurity is not coming down is because of increase in its export to earn
dollars. More containers are leaving with goods than the number bringing in things. Nigerians are now buying made in nigeria provision, drugs and cosmetics than foreign. The economic situation is making every one to recalibrate just like the companies are going to do.The high exchange rate is equally a blessing in disguise. It is like looking at 6 from top/bottom angle. Some how I am beginning to like it because it is going to help in our production level because everyone one is now thinking of what can I export to earn in dollars.
I live on the street and it is what I am seeing I am. talking even my wife want to export garri next yr against her import from UK all these yrs
Next yr will equally be yr for massive agriculture for many because of hunger this yr.

Companies will get out of forex losses how? Are Nigerian companies selling their products in dollars? Are you saying the accumulated losses will wipe away automatically? Trade surplus will increase when Nigeria is an import economy, a country that couldn't meet OPEC quota.
I think pipeline vandalism will be on the raise in 2025 with the cancellation of ministry of Niger Delta.
@bolded, Nigeria already has a trade surplus.

Divineability:
Let me lend a voice to this discourse. The 100% or so wage increase is actually a ruse and deception. The category of workers that will benefit that 100 % is infinitesimally small, if there is at all. By the government's consequential adjustment magic, most junior workers will get less than 50%, most middle workers will get less than 30% raise, while most senior workers will get less than 20%. When you juxtapose that with the astronomical increase in goods, food, transport, services, and other parameters of cost living, workers' purchasing power is actually nosediving, and far from increasing. He who wears the shoe knows where it pinches, I challenge anyone to do a finding on workers' living condition; it is worse than pathetic. In fact, I am doing this typing with a heavy heart. So, no one should think the wage thing will positively impact the economy, market, business, or company bottomline. Pls visit:
https://economicconfidential.com/2024/09/minimum-wage-adjustments/
I think you people are mixing different topics:

Purchasing power pre/post minimum wage increase, standard of living pre/post minimum wage increase, impact of minimum wage increase on the economy, impact of minimum wage increase on inflation, impact of minimum wage increase on share prices.

If you're only focused on the impact of minimum wage increase on share prices, since the minimum wage increase will lead to increase in Naira in circulation, it will likely lead to increased share prices in the short term, if all other factors remain constant. In the medium to long term, many other factors as highlighted above and even more will play their roles to determine the impact of the minimum wage increase on share prices, which may dampen the short term positives.

@Ucheson2, I noticed improvement in NPF MFB's q3 2024 result. Moreover, they seem to be more consistent with numbers this year than in the past. I need to see their audited 2024 as well as q1 2025 results to be able to make a proper decision about the coy.

https://doclib.ngxgroup.com/Financial_NewsDocs/42392_NPF_MICROFINANCE_BANK_PLC-_QUARTER_3_-_FINANCIAL_STATEMENT_FOR_2024_FINANCIAL_STATEMENTS_OCTOBER_2024.pdf

beloved @talk2me2, apologies for delayed response I have been very busy lately.

Yes, I also saw the consistency in their numbers, but we cannot trust any number coming from NPF MFB until their audited account is confirmed by their regulator the CBN.

'IMPROVEMENT' grin
Judging from were they are coming from, I mean for a company that it's q1 and q2 results showed negative growths, flat result in q3 can be considered as improvement.

YoY 14% is just a flat result.
QoQ 33% is a slight improvement.

I classify this company as HOLD.

My top 3 picks (in no particular order) would be:
a. UBA
b. Zenith
c. Oando

Oando for capital gain; not for dividend payout, at least in the short term
UBA for both capital gain and dividend
Zenith for both capital gain and dividend,
But I expect price of the bank stocks to go down a bit around Xmas/New Year, especially Zenith and GTB
