We talk about spread and diversification. Personally, I feel we are all traders (directly or indirectly) with one aim: make money with minimal risk. I have always said that I do not do TA or FA (and I am not willing to start learning). I rely more on getting information before it is released to the market. Once I have info, I go BIG. This way, I make more in a short time with minimal risk compared to waiting months for appreciation or DIV. Regardless of how we put it, NEWS is what moves the market (reports, board changes, acquisitions etc) What is good for the goose is not entirely good for the gander o (na manage gander go manage am) ![]() Every mallam to his kettle... |

Do you care to explain Dr? If I work in SEC and a memo of an equity I am interested in gets to my table. Are you saying that I am not supposed to act on that information? I am open to learn sir ![]() DrAwo: |

FBN Holdings Plc has opened a rights issue, offering 5.983 billion ordinary shares at 50k each to existing shareholders at N25 per share, in a bid to raise additional capital totaling N150 billion. How will this affect FBNH share price? |

KarlTom:Insider Trading, No? |

| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by robobo: 1:51pm On Oct 28, 2024 |
KarlTom:Yes, you (and close family members) as an employee of SEC would be restricted from some certain transactions depending on the sensitiveness of your role Even so many CBN /NDIC /AMCON mid - senior mgt are also restricted from banks shares |
| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by KarlTom: 1:53pm On Oct 28, 2024 |
I believe that it could result in a pump of the SP: They could inflate the SP to, maybe 30, so that investors can snap up the RI @25 ![]() designking: |
| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by jaybee3(m): 1:58pm On Oct 28, 2024 |
KarlTom:Definitely Insider Trading As an example, working for one of the big 4 in a non audit role but holding a relatively high position, i basically can't own shares in companies we audit and the reason is simply because undue advantage as a potential result of having access to privilege info |
| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by KarlTom: 1:58pm On Oct 28, 2024 |
I fully understand the dos and donts of insider trading... ![]() I said 'act' (decode as you deem fit) I'm trying to understand DrAwo robobo: |

Now we're getting there. At the bolded, does this restriction apply to every staff of those companies? ![]() We notice that SP moves before results are paste on the board, is it magic? Even the 'doyen of NGX' did not hide it... Anyways what do I know ![]() Over and out ![]() jaybee3: |

| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by jaybee3(m): 2:09pm On Oct 28, 2024 |
KarlTom:I believe staff of those companies can own shares BUT they can't trade them during the blackout period. The movement is clearly due to Insider Trading and I've been involved in forensic analysis (mortgage rate manipulation) of such cases in the past here in the UK. In fact, it's kinda easy to detect such oddities and prosecute with hefty fines |

KarlTom:Chief make u no vex, na night school i go, my understanding of "acting" is that you (and/or close relatives) either want to buy or sell. which my answer addresses |
| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by sky2891: 2:17pm On Oct 28, 2024 |
designking:I think this does not add up cause FBN AGM notice says they are looking for N350b not N150b. Aside, the RI price should be known after the AGM. I stand to be corrected. |

KarlTom:Some people have no morals at all . Imagine making money by cheating and not putting in any work. Like I said before, this is still Nigeria, where like 80% of the people are crooks and proud of it 🤦🏽♂️ |
| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by Streetinvestor2: 2:21pm On Oct 28, 2024 |
KarlTom:It is a crime but in naija everything goes. You are not suppose to act on privilege information for your own monetary gain in a regulated market like nse..If caught you loose all the money and still go to jail. That is why you have close window for people who have direct access to such information, thr families and proxy..You are allowed to act when the information becomes public. Then in my country even president personal memo they land oloshi hand first |

Suddenly we have quite a number of saints. We believe it's okay to work for a thief provided we are not the one doing the stealing. We have ALL enjoyed information about OandO and ARADEL before the market even FMN. Most respondents jumped to the conclusion that I have direct access to insider information... ![]() Special thanks to Bagwa, Sunrisepebble and Yemy3 Every mallam to his kettle... |
