The only difference is that the gays in the SE & North will never dare to openly flaunt that lifestyle like the people in the SW and SS do, because they know that they'll be immediately cutoff and ostracized from their kinsmen and age group, the North taking it further by killing them.
Unlike the other groups who shamelessly make them more visible to the world, so they can boast to be progressive.
