emmanuelewumi:Bros I understand your point but if the business get as e be I dey avoid the stock. What you sell or offer is what will convince me to invest in the stock. I don't like to do long term on a stock and end up regretting it,I like consistent growth in a company and it must reflect on my investment. I always look at it that way to avoid heartbreak and disappointment. |

Bizibi:You can make money on the bad business on the short run but will lose on the long. I prefer a bad stock but a good business. The price will be ridiculously cheap even though the business is doing well That is where long term wealth are made in the stock market |

OandO Personally I remain bullish about this company. One key reason is the assets of the NAOC deal includes some outstanding revenue of circa €400m (85% of €472m) which did not appear in the FY 2023. Check the SC in the quoted post I don't think we can get a full, up-to-date picture of the status of OandO until we receive Q3 & FY 24. Until then... ![]() KarlTom: |

ositadima1:Ahhh my friend. That was a huge effort on my part. I had to crank my brain so hard to come up with that argument. Anyway, my understanding is that there are differences between lenders (creditors) and investors. The latter are owners while the former are not. That is why when the business fails the creditors get paid from remnants while the investors lose. In Nigeria banks are discouraged from being investors in companies they lend to because of conflict of interest, like FBN and Honeywell. So banks were made to jettison some of their companies and divest from others. But now they seem to be coming back through the back door using Holdcos. |

Raider76:My argument is that banks are investors. Anyone who lends money to a business is an investor because their return isn’t guaranteed. If Oando was able to raise 1.3 billion dollars, it’s clear that lenders have confidence in recovering their principal. This is basic finance. |
| Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by Raider76: 10:57am On Nov 02, 2024 |
ositadima1:Ok. So instead of "investors" why not we agree to use "share holders" in my earlier post. |

megawealth01:Mega, did you bother to check the 2023 result at all......or you will just continue to comment based on what another person is saying? This new Auditor has been engaged since 2023 November or thereabout, so are you insinuating they're not competent enough? Or was engaged specifically to work on 2023 FYE report? What is the crime in engaging a different Auditor by the way? The issue I sometimes have with your Oando comments is that you continue to make posts based on your mindset most of the time. I'm just surprised that some people are just bent on seeing the negativity and debts but was silent on the return to profitability in the first place.......I'm sure they're disappointed that OANDO is making progress so far. Read thru the attached on page 11 of the report, put your old mindset on one side and try to at least pick something positive out of it.

If Oando na bank, CBN would have taken over the management of the business |

Raider76:We have equity holders (or shareholders) and debt holders—both are investors, and both carry risks. Just like shareholders, debt holders or lenders perform due diligence before committing their money. If a company truly had no prospects, as my Oga Emma suggests, no bank would lend to it. It’s that simple. |

Locotrader:Cardinal Stone and Stanbic do Business for big players in the market and generate huge funds mainly from this......one or two transactions alone can generate huge profit for them.......but, If you consider the market daily volumes, you'll see that the likes of Morgan do a lot past them. Their presence in the market can't be compared. They all have their good sides....... This is just my layman's view. |

All these comments on 2023 report is liking to much Ado about nothing in my own opinion. We already knew 2023 report will be coming out this way. Like it or not, OANDO still delivered profit.... ![]() You talked more negative than this when it was trading @8/10, but what happened? It still delivered and acquired AGIP amongst other things. Think we should reserve our energies for the consequent results going forward....... Q1, Q2 and Q3 will shed more light on our doubts and curiosity. Osita and Oga Agba, you've tried with your analysis, they're objective enough, in my own layman's view. * OANDO is possibly coming for Capital Raising, either in the market or from private investors. |

What we have in finance textbooks are different from realities in the market place. Reason why Warren Buffett always disagree with academia and Professors of finance. Warren Buffett definition of risk is different from what we have in textbooks and does not use Beta He does not believe in the Efficient Market Theory He doesn't use Capital Asset Pricing Method. He has his own variant of Discounted Cash Flow model which is a departure from the traditional Discounted Cash Flow model as we have in textbooks. Some might say his variant is not Mathematically correct but at least it is working for the old man. Albert Einstein with a more advanced Mathematically correct model lost big time in the stock Reason why legendary Peter Lynch said all the Maths use need to succeed in the stock market you must have learned in the 9th grade or JSS 3. Anybody with a credit in Mathematics at SSCE has the brain to succeed in the stock market provided they have the temperament, patience and understanding of market psychology |

unite4real:Why not? It will be lifted. But What if management wants the suspension to continue because they want to raise funds, also the auditor is in doubt on the probability of the fund raising exercise before the end of 2024 |

The desire to be right always, while natural, often becomes its own trap. It can transform conversations into battles and relationships into competitions. When we're fixated on proving our correctness, we stop listening to understand and instead listen only to counter. This defensiveness paradoxically makes us less likely to learn and grow. Copied... |

emmanuelewumi:Elder statesman, why not leave Oando alone, you have been on this same side since Oando was #8 and Oando thoroughly trashed and humiliated you will it performance in price inside this NSE ![]() We love you invaluable education but Oando defiled all your reservations in the past and will still do it again, like how bua cement dealt with you ![]() Please, between Oando and DANGOTE sugar that you have been trumpeting for, which one do you recommend we go for? Harvestock01:Read the article written by Professor Vitaliy Katsenelson titled "Religion stock" the article was written 20 years ago. He is the author of "Active Value Investing" and other books. He is a Professor of Finance and a disciple of Warren Buffett Oando fits the description of what he wrote in that article |

ositadima1:Exactly! Both are investors, only that debt holder stands ahead of equity holder. And considering the fact this particular lender is of national and international repute and have access to best auditors and all that, needed to do their own evaluation of the business before lending. OANDO is the immediate and remote future ![]() |

ositadima1:I don't think I agree with this. 1)Deducting from u guys argument, Banks are generally assumed to be lenders unless categorically stated as investors and even if so, such banks should also be found in the shareholding structure of companies I think(at least as Influential shareholders if not Major shareholders) 2) Banks return as company lenders are guaranteed through collateral. (worst case) Investors return isn't guaranteed.(worse case) I believe you know all these. You are just pulling legs ![]() |
