I bought after the bonus issue. Didn't buy it during the COVID era when it traded at 2.50.
emmanuelewumi:
How much did you buy it.

Nahco was begging for buyers at N2.50k in 2020. Gave a bonus of 1 for 5 in 2022 and paid a dividend of N2.56k in 2024

Market always go against your reservations cum judgement, at least this year. You stood for DANGOTE sugar, market went against you and won you grin; you stood for ARADEL, market went against you and won you grin you stood against Oando, market went against you and won you grin and a whole lot of others. Is it monkey hunting or your magic is losing its efficacy grin

My chair reconsult your medicine man cuz the potency of your magic is fading with the fading generation grin

Interesting times. When is the market going to value Transcorp PLC appropriately based on the valuation of Transcorp Power and Transcorp hotel. Current market cap of Transcorp Power is 2.7 Trillion (Transcorp owns 51.6%). Transcorp hotels market cap is 1.086 Trillion naira (Transcorp owns 76.16%). Based on these 2 valuations alone, Transcorp should be trading around 218 naira. This price projection excludes Transcorp interest in Transcorp oil & gas and Afam power.

Why is the market currently pricing Transcorp at 459 billion market capitalization? What are the factors driving this mis-pricing?

Frangel:
The higher risk of extending loans to Oando could be the reason for the high rates.
I don't think so, probably na loan through a proxy. Checkout the numerous related party transactions

Because Oando is a religion stock with many faithfuls and worshippers.

And Dangote Sugar always released their results at the appropriate time, did not wait till the stock wss suspended before they released their results and they are not been hyping their stories on social media, so that informed insiders will gradually sell their shares to uninformed retail investors
The change in share holders between 2022 and 2023 does not support this your allegation of informed insiders selling their shares.

Are you aware of the various loans that were converted to shares which diluted holdings, are you aware of the loan conversion to shares ratio.

That was how their holdings increased

The bond gives me regular income for the next 10 years.

Some of the loans can be referred to as bridge loan, assuming you are expecting dividends and coupons of about N10 million in January 2025, and you see a business and an investment opportunity. You can easily borrow against your financial assets and get funds within 48 hours.

At 30% if you pay back the loan in January which is in 2 months time the interest on the loan will be about 5%.

That means the interest on the N10 million will be around 500k.

Meanwhile you used the loan to get eg goods from abroad with a mark up of 50% and above, thereby making a profit of N4.5 million using banks money
Thanks for the response, I have a follow up hypothetical question, if you could borrow ₦10M right now at 5%. With a monthly minimum payment of ₦200k until the loan is paid(within 12 months). How would you invest that ₦10M?

My loans does not require monthly payments, but at least the accumulated interest should be paid at maturity and then you can rollover.
But if you want monthly payments fine, but payments are flexible and does not require a fixed payment.

Eg N10 million at 30% per annum for 6 months, your interest at maturity will be N1.5 million, you can pay the accumulated interest at maturity and rollover for another 6 months

This does not look like a good deal oh.i see this in all this loan sharks on the street. The 5% per month is 60% per annum oh.They always market it to salary guys. And any month you default they compound it for the next month as capital then do the 5% interest.

You said top insiders sold (dumped) their shares. Now you are saying they increased their shares by converting loans to shares. Your two statements are conflicting.

Taking pictures of the shareholding at end year 2023 vs 2022
1. The top three shareholders holding 9,100,189,287 (73.21%) maintained their positions. That is not selling or buying more.
2. Shareholders owning between 50,000,001 and 100,000,000 shares increase from from 3 shareholders to 4 shareholders. With average shareholdings in this category reducing from 79.9 million to 73.7 million. But with overalll holdings in this category increasing from 1.93% to 2.38%

There were more reductions of shares at the lower end of shareholding perhaps due to fear. Those that had little had some of their little taken away by those that had more. Nearly a story at the MEGA end where 76 less MEGA shareholders shed some shares to 4 more MEGA shareholders.

😂😂😂 no senior man. 5% is for the year. I don’t even look at or consider loans over 6% APR.

@200k minimum per month cannot pay back the loan in a yr.That means you have big money coming for the yr to pay off the loan. If yes then collect it and share into two for wapco and presco with 6 month to make like 50% target. @ 5% interest na free money oh.It can not be in naija then

You have already done a lot of analysis on OANDO. Well done. Hearing the pros & cons and follow up arguments (discuss & not slurs) enriches our take. Take a break from OANDO and analyze other stocks like DANGOTE SUGAR. NSEMPA will be delighted to see your FA in DS that just fell into negative equity. How will DS come out, what are they doing? e.g. taking ownership of sugarcane farms. Or is it a capital injection that will wipe out current shareholder is the only way out for DS?.

The 9 month EPS of Nahco is N4.71. EPS of N3.00 was made between July and September, if the same thing should happen between October and December the full year EPS will be around N7.71k

If this should happen Nahco will get to between N65.00 and N70.00 or above
NAHCO Q3 earnings may be due to summer holidays. There is usually more international travel in that period. So the earnings may not repeat in Q4

Not requiring monthlies makes a difference. What if you could afford to pay the monthlies from your regular income? How would you approach this?

FYI, the total interest on this loan is ₦500,000 as long as it is paid within 12 months

From our analysis-paralysis, we have valued Oando at circa 100. What do you think Team Oando will value it for in equity for 1b shares?

This way might be a good way to retain value, cuz a right issue might be antagonistic for minority shareholders.

Is Wale really that cruel?? grin
