See what a lady sent to me yesterday, unfortunately she missed the opportunity to increase her portfolio because she doesn't like to buy additional shares when they are selling above her average cost price.

I love to average down, but I also average up if the business is growing and becoming more efficient
Creme la creme! This is fabulous

We have a lot of researches that concluded that women are better stock market investors than men. They usually have a better long term portfolio performance than men, not due to knowledge or skill but due to patience
Men have a lot to do with money grin grin

With my little experience, I have come to learn that it is good to get good quantity in shares. If this portfolio had been more consistent in buying little by little and averaging down/up as the case may be. She would have been a major shareholders in all these companies and at a good price too. Topping up of a good company is the watchword.
Reason why I get loans.

Her problem is because she does not want to buy beyond her average cost price.

My average cost price for United Capital used to be around 98k but because I topped up at higher price my average cost price is now N3.25k

My average cost price for UBA was N2.10k but it has now increased to N4.00

My average cost price for Presco is N180 used to be less than N100 in the past.

But the lady did well for herself as a student who just concluded her Masters degree, sold some of shares for her graduate studies

We believe we can always beat the market but it is extremely difficult to do this on a consistent basis

Make no mistake, the result in page 15 is that of Consolidated Hallmark Insurance Limited. While the report in page 53 is that of Consolidated Hallmark Holding PLC.

You may like to read page 1 to understand the structure of the Holding Company (the group).

All the three pages attached are from the audited financial statement.
I expected a press release from CHI, this would have clarify some of these conflicting reports.
Seems they're just migrating to the new reporting standards.

If you notice that the Model of Reporting was both for IFRS4 and IFRS17....

The 13.8bn profit of Net Interest Income from Assets was a one off, which ought to be reported under the IFRS17 but was not captured......
We needed to know what the rules says about this and how it applies to the whole reporting/profitability......

However, the reconciliation of comprehensive statement of income on page 40 of the Oct 30 released report, the IFRS4 seems to be the true one for now........until the company will make clarification.

** One thing is that, it's an improved result but because market is generally down, that's possibly the reason its not yet responding to the good result.

Help! Please how does one quote more than one previous post in a fresh post?
-->When you quote the 1st previous post, you copy the entire post. Then exit the page.

-->Then go ahead and quote the 2nd previous post.

--> paste the 1st previous post(that you copied) before or after the 2nd previous post you just quoted(depending on the order you want to place them)

--->then comment a fresh-post below the two quoted previous posts.

-------------------------------------
For 3 or more posts,
You could paste the 1st previous post somewhere.

OR
Most phones and computers thesedays have clipboards for storing multiple copied items temporarily.
you can copy as much previous post as you like and search them on your clipboard to paste accordingly in your fresh post.

OR
You could open two Nairaland tabs(previous post page and fresh post page ) on the computer or your phone and copy and paste desired content from one tab to the other tab.

Most of these stocks range or oscillate within a trading band.

I bought FBNH at ₦23 last month or so, it rallied to about ₦33 when Otedolla was buying stocks... I sold all FBNH stakes @₦33 and it pulled back to around ₦25 and I re-entered.

Understanding the trading range of a stock and constantly going in and out is more profitable than holding a stock for several years.

I picked 10,000 Aradel few days back at ₦365 and I am looking forward to sell it today if it pushes past ₦430.

If the later result, the IFRS17 is the true result of CHI Group,I think price has to rise above #2 by now.

If you smoothen this over a 10-20 years, passive holders will make more if the stocks were well selected.

I'm sure once your fund grows to 100m and above you won't be moving it from one stock to another?
Do you also consider the mental gymnastics of moving from one stock to another? grin

I don't agree with you.
Likewise you will not agree with me.

Only God knows who make money pass

I think the best approach to this market is strike and hold cash for pullback/bears then strike again until you knack front and back finish and go away

Leaving my money in stock market all the time give me sleepless nights and not good for me.

I can't even put my money in a fundamentally sound stocks even for long.

Trading means you trade all stocks hoping to sell and make or loose money.I trade any stock using improved figures,TA and news. All for short term.
Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by KarlTom: 10:19am On Nov 07, 2024
The bolded is debatable.

If I had spare funds today, I will purchase UBA @30. Knowing that the price will get to >₦36 within 2weeks (because of the RI).

That's ~ 20% profit.

And IF anything changes, I hold on grin

SEC can not allow UBA right price fly,

Right are offered at a discount, not a premium

The mind of a trader is quite different from a passive stock investor.

I am from a Forex trading background. I will be too scared holding a stock for even 6months. Nigeria political atmosphere is very unstable and policies can change any time.

A lot of people bought bank stocks several years ago above ₦50 during their public offers but what is the value after 5years.

A trader constantly enter/buy at support levels and selloff at resistance levels. He keeps doing this year in year out blending across policy changes and policy summersaults.

A good trader is on top of the food chain. We win some and lose some but ultimately we edge forward.

Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by Nobody: 10:30am On Nov 07, 2024
In all traders create liquidity in the market.

They hype a stock, create liquidity and allow people to make money not only them.

They also create panic putting sell pressure in order to re-enter at low price.

If you hold a fundamentally sound stock, traders will also batter the stock no matter how strong it is and also move it back

Traders are the ones making money in Aradel now not long term holders. They sell and move to other stocks for profit while pa Emma keep holding Aradel till 20 years.Yes he will make money through dividends but capital appreciation is slow.

Show me a top long term holder let me show you a top trader. You go bow
