That won't make business sense. They flood the market from thr holdings which may likely reduce the quantity they already have baged. And if one billionaire decide to be buying. They will pay more for the wrong move.Nobi only them get sense oh
The wise thing to do is stay put and wait for the MTO price. It can't be less than ₦150.

The company already acquired 83%+ and it wouldn't be difficult to purchase the balance 17% shares. They can even gradually buyout a lot of the offers from the NGX till the MTO date.

So, what’s your verdict? Is WAPCO a buy at this point, or when will it no longer be a safe bet?

All this back and forth seems like an attempt to show off that you’ve been in it—so what?

I also have WAPCO, so what’s the point in boasting about tripling my investment to people who don’t have it?

shocked shocked shocked
grin grin grin

I expect Wapco to rally this week, after that, it will pullback and leave bagholders holding the bag till the MTO grin

This is the kind of post that can make some people take decisions that will make them lose money. How do you know it can't be less than 150? The same thing they said of Flourmill, and look at the final price they are paying.
Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by Sunrisepebble: 3:04pm On Dec 01, 2024
The Chinese company could very easily give a lower % premium to Minority shareholders.
Not Investment advice: Me personally, if the stock hits 75 I will gradually start exiting my position and leave about 20% holdings to see what the MTO is

I bow o. Very helpful, thanks.

robobo:
if the news of buyout/delist flies below are my night school analysis of what a fair price should look like

Lafarge (Wapco) back of envelope possible buy out price (going by link shared by sunrise)

Hoacin bought Lafarge Zambia with a capacity of 1.5m/t for $150m for 70%

Meaning 100% of Lafarge Zambia is priced at $200m for 1.5m/t which equals $133m for 1m/t capacity

Hoacin bought Lafarge Malawi with a capacity of 0.25m/t for $10m for 100% which equals $40m for 1m/t

Above means Hoacin paid an upper of $133m for 1m/t capacity and a lower of $40m for 1m/t with an average of $89m for 1m/t

From above for a Lafarge Nigeria with a capacity of 10.5m/t the

Upper buy could be 10.5 by $133m equals $1.4bn @ 1600/$ gives N2.24 trillion with outstanding shares of 16.11bn gives a valuation of N139 per share

The average buy could be 10.5 by $89m equals $935m @ 1600/$ gives N1.5 trillion bn with outstanding shares of 16.11bn gives a valuation of N93 per share

Lower buy could be 10.5 by $40m equals $420m @ 1600/$ gives N672 million with outstanding shares of 16.11bn gives a valuation of N42 per share

So we have three possible scenario of N42; N93 and N139

42 is already affirmatively broken, so maybe we could test 92 next (if no info comes out before it gets there)

Selah

i have some few units of Wapco so i might be blinded by sentiment

No vex, WAPCO shareholder here. what's this "MTO" you guys keep referring to? Management takeover?

chimex38:
in the interim, yes.
Then what about the MTO on the letter?

They will, eventually.

ARADEL IN DOUBLE BOTTOM ON RELATIVELY LOW VOLUME!
ARADEL got rejected below 500, the last rejection (last week) coming on a relatively low volume may likely forced price to retest below 500 before any rally to the upside...

Not far from the truth.
AS written at the bottom of that disclosure.
"Mandatory Take Over"-

They probably will later on (mandatorily) buy out the minority to fully take over the company-100%

A lot of buying-selling transactions going-on between 57 - 64 creating price range. Will there be imbalance in buying pressure soon? Or will it be selling pressure imbalance?

Once the 83+% share acquisition is approved, the intend doing a mandatory takeover (Delisting).

The stock will rally upward this week. ₦75 per share is sure this week
Mandatory Takeover is not delisting!!
It's just in compliance with, and in fulfilment of the Rules guiding bulk purchase from Majority Shareholder(s).

The MTO may just be 1% from other Minority Shareholders just to fulfil the Rules & Regulations guiding the transfer from the majority shareholder.

We have seen it played out at different times on some stocks in NGX.
Delisting may eventually come if the new majority owner so wish, but definitely, MTO is not it.

Happy New Month to All.

Exactly!!
Someone throwing numbers around should have basis for doing this I believed.
Aside insider numbers, SA or DA numbers should be clearly stated to allow people make informed decisions.

That said, this WAPCO was said several times here that it only responds to special news such as this majority buyover.....
So, depends on the share price it's going to be purchased, the share price should rally around the figure.
We needed to now know the amount HOLCIM is selling to HUAXIN cement.
Hopefully the amount will be around the numbers already mentioned by the SAGE here.......3 digits won't be bad after all. 😁

Reminds me of Oga RabbiDoracle's valuation......
Let's see how WAPCO fares from this special news....😊

It will be nice if anyone with useful information about their acquisition in Zambia and Malawi can tell us if they delisted from the respective exchanges following any MTO if there was any.

OK. Noted
Summary:
MTO acronym means: Mandatory Tender Offer

It is in the definition of this Tender offer that one uses a mandatory takeover bid as a form of explanation.

thin-line difference there. but anyway, necessary for Academic purposes and other Professional/official usage

Thanks for helping to clarify.

This report is very misleading. Was it Nigeria economy that made Holcim sell off their stakes in Larfage in other Africa countries?
