You are the one mixing up the issues Sir.

The title of this thread is "Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts" and not about politics or an evaluation of the government of the day and their policies. I keep redirecting you but you were bent on forcing your opinion of the government on us in this thread.
The stocks market is not in a silo; it reacts to economic factors like inflation, interest rates, exchange rate etc. which are driven by economic policies of the government
These factors also affect the prospects and viability of companies that list on the stock exchange. Some companies have folded up and delisted from the NGX in recent times, partly due to some of these factors.
These things also determine or influence investors' choice of securities to invest in (e.g. stocks, fixed income, currency etc.) and how we hedge our investments against risks.

Yet, you are an investor but you don't want to hear people talk about these things.

What I am talking about is not politics. I am not mentioning the names of political parties or politicians that you should vote or not vote for. I am discussing economic policies of a ruling government which can affect the general performance of the economy, as well as companies listed on NGX, before they are able to make profits and declare dividends and distribute to you and I.
You may not be comfortable with my comments about the economic policies of the government, but the reality is in our faces.

What is the current fair value for MTNN

Using Chapel Hill and Cardinal Stones analysis, somewhere between 280-300

Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by ojesymsym: 9:51am On Dec 03, 2024
I do not even think this is true. There are some stocks in the NYSE that were selling at over $136 that are now less than $5 with a space of less than 18 months, people do not remember to reference those ones, they just focus on Apple, Amazon, Nvidia and the use them to compare with some of NSE that did not perform well and use them in comparison

It is very rare to see such a fall on the NSE.
Agbalowomeri:
The reality of our situation in Nigeria. This is one area where real estate is probably a better asset class. The value of stocks have been decimated severely

Last year, I put alot on Mtn, Nascon and Dangsugar. My dividend yield was so so poor cos non of those three paid.
I do not see mtn paying this year and I want chop dividends. Na banking stocks(zenith and gtco) dey my mind now. UBA gave N2 interim, their final year might not be that much.

On the day you bought veritas capital at N0.30k, it traded N0.20k through out the month and next.

On the day you claimed to sell 50m units of Veritas, the total volume for that day was 7.05M units.

The records are there on the NGX for anyone to verify, so take am easy
See, what do you want to get by this excercise? It is obvious you are not very conversant with stocks trading and investments.

A little education can help here!

1. Have you heard of daily High or Low? What is recorded for you histotically is the daily open and closing price; there are fluctuations in-between. E.g. Just last week I bought Aradel about 480 but the price recorded for that day was 517.

2. Did you notice the word "around" in the post, it means it wasn't bought in a single transaction in a single day, you just submit your instruction to the broker and they will buy/sell over many days until your mandate is cleared, the 0.3 is the average after all purchase is done, do you not know about that?

3. Do you know that it is rare to have the exact number of shares you requested? So the 50m, 15m, 1600, 1700, 65m were rounded-off for simplicity and not the exact figures. Exact figure for 15m will be something like 15,045,267.52 etc.

That is the type of things that are possible, even in this current era, I was here when someone shared his/her N 300m + portfolio.

I wanted to share contract notes but for what reasons? to prove what? I request that you let it rest and let's see where we can position buy/sell mandates today for joy tomorrow. Thank you!

When you look at the kind of crazy bids being displayed on Morgan, you would know that the notrhward journey is not stoping anytime soon.

There’s a fixed price of 104 already. The price is 70.15 now, representing at least a 48% upside, why will investors not continue rushing it until the premium percentage is non existent. I made sure to say at least because me I’m staying put in case one shareholder who gets mind wants to drag it higher than the fixed price grin

You’re absolutely on point. This subject is complex and difficult for many to understand, which is why you’re facing so much criticism. The main counterargument seems to be that as long as you live in Nigeria, the exchange rate doesn’t matter. This is a deeply flawed perspective. It might hold true if Nigeria were somewhat self-sufficient, but since we heavily rely on imported products, the exchange rate is critical.

I’ve said before that much of the money people celebrate now has lost its real value, and I was criticized for it. In 2015, I bought a new laptop for ₦150,000; today, the same laptop costs over ₦1 million. Cars? Let’s not even go there.

As for investments, even if your portfolio has gained 300% since 2021, it’s essentially at a loss when you measure its purchasing power. ₦50 million today has the same buying power as less than ₦5 million a few years ago, which is why I suggested adjusting for inflation by striking out a zero—this helps reveal the true value.

For example, if your portfolio generates a ₦10 million dividend, what you could buy with that in 2022 is now less than half of what it would afford you today. These realities are hard for many to see because most people simply echo popular opinions without independent thought.

My advice? Let people believe whatever they want. Reality exists independent of opinions or arguments. What truly matters isn’t convincing others but leveraging your insights to make money. Focus on that—it’s far more important than winning debates, which ultimately have little impact on the bigger picture.
I don't agree that 5 million few yrs ago is like 50 million today.i am a business man on the street. Tell me the thing in the market like 10 yrs ago in the range of 5 million that will require like 50 million to buy today beside those over priced land in some places like lagos and abj.

I will do my own calculation on one of my stocks though some are not doing fine
Ucapital. Thr was only two buy which was offer and RI since then
Units was 2,024,997 @BE of about #1.00 because offer was at .90kobo and ri was #1.20.This record is in book because I used analog broker then
2024997÷170 will give 11.912 dollars
With bonus of 2 :1 will give 6074991 now.
6074991× 17 will give #103274847
I03274847÷1700 will give presently 60 ,750 dollars. Did it not beat devaluation /inflation of 10 yrs.i have not added dividend for 10 yrs
In 2015, one liter of petrol cost ₦87. Today, it’s over ₦1,000 and still rising. Back then, ₦5 million could buy a haulage company 57,400 liters of petrol. Today, that same 57,400 liters would cost over ₦57 million.

I don’t need to list more examples—they are everywhere. Just compare the cost of goods and services from the past to now. You’re living within the system, so you can see it for yourself.

From the available information we have, I think we can safely come to that conclusion. $838m is being paid as final consideration to Holcim for their stake. The total transaction is $1bn. Working backwards from there gives that price. Unless there’s something I am missing ?

Lol,you are giving me price of a good that was being subsidised. 5M 10 yrs ago can not be close to 50M today. It has not reached that level even with the devaluation/inflation is what I see on the street. .The money has lost value does not mean the money is now dead like Zimbabwe dollars lol
