Is flying from Cotonou still cheaper than Lagos? And will you be asked why you chose to fly from there at the point of entry?

I believe people can pay money on people's behalf.

We sometimes receive alert from unknown account and the sender can later share transfer receipt. Hence, ordinarily, this shouldn't be an issue provided you have the debit alert via mail or you can download receipt to tender as evidence.

Imagine you using someone else's debit card to pay for visa fee, will UKVI care that the card details is for Cashmadam, while applicant is Seun Osewa.

No issues

Check using Google flight.

However, except you want to go by road, flying ASKy to Benin at a cost over ₦100,000 may eventually equate to same thing

Might not be cheaper...

The border officers don't care if you flew in from Nigeria or Benin Republic...

Good morning.

One of the reasons, I always contribute on this thread is that, people's posts have been of help to me, cos they posted and I read, then became successful. They're many that includes Cashmadam, giselle237, Ashiri, Sanyaolu etc.

So we read post and learn, then become successful thanks to many people that helped us and still helping

There are two of us that used this route of husband sponsoring family trip and how we did.

I'll share you the link

First read very well and thereafter ask questions, but your question has been answered

I've been a silent reader but I learned a lot from this thread and wanted to pay it forward.

I applied for a visa to visit my sibling for 2 weeks.

Submission date: September 5th
Biometrics: September 11th
Collection email: October 2nd

I got an email when tls sent my application to DMC, but didn't get any email from UKVI about receiving my application or that a decision had been made. It took exactly 15 working days. The visa was granted.

I submitted these documents:
Cover letter
Payslips
Salary account bank statement
Savings account bank statement
Employment and promotion letters
Sibling's BRP and passport
Sibling's tenancy agreement
Chats to explain that inflow into my accounts were loan repayments
Copies of US and Canadian visas (both valid but unused)
Travel stamps for previous trips to India and Cote D'Ivoire

My bank statements were not very clean. I had some credits which were loan repayments from friends and family. I was a bit concerned about this but decided to submit anyway. I budgeted 1,000 pounds in the application form (no accommodation) and included a comment in my cover letter that it was a very conservative estimate but I have the ability to flex to 2,000 pounds if required.

In hindsight, my application was probably not so straightforward, but I think the fact that I work in a reputable international organization and possess US and Canadian visas may have helped. My bank statements also demonstrated monthly salary payments and transfers to my savings account.

I hope this helps someone!

Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by Happychild101: 8:20am On Dec 07, 2024
Guys please I have a question. You may feel it's naive but better to ask.

My bro has 2 options to travel.

Finland (Bsc, 3.5yr), 9k€, move with dependent.
UK (MRes, 2yr), 8k£, move with dependent

He already has bsc in naija and wants to move with his wife. Which options is the best. Long-term, short-term, based on hustle and ability to recoup the loan he's taking for everything.
Please I need inputs

Congratulations on your visa approval. Based on what worked for you, how much would you advise someone earning about 882,000 Naira per month who receives additional allowances/financial benefits of least 1 million Naira per annum to budget for a one-week trip to London? Disposable income is between 350,000 and 500,000 Naira per month. I'm reluctant to budget 1,000 pounds because this will exceed 2 times my disposable income, which is a highly common reason for UK visa refusals these days (as seen on this Nairaland forum), so I'm considering budgeting somewhere between 500 and 600 pounds for a week (excluding accommodation covered by my host and airfare), then mentioning in the 'Additional Information' section of the application that the 500-600 pounds budget excludes accommodation which will be covered by my host and excludes flight costs as well, which will be covered separately using my USD savings, if my visa is granted. Please note that I have $7k+ in savings and have been issued a UK student visa twice within the last ten years (once in 2016 and another in 2017), so I really hope my prior student visas will strengthen my application.
Looking forward to your response.

To everyone who has recently received a UK visitor visa:
How much would you advise someone earning about 882,000 Naira per month who receives additional allowances/financial benefits of least 1 million Naira per annum to budget for a one-week trip to London? Disposable income is between 350,000 and 500,000 Naira per month. I'm reluctant to budget 1,000 pounds because this will exceed 2 times my disposable income when converted to pounds (based on the messed up exchange rate), which is a highly common reason for UK visa refusals these days (as seen on this Nairaland forum). Hence, I'm considering budgeting somewhere between 500 and 600 pounds for a week (excluding accommodation covered by my host and airfare), then mentioning in the 'Additional Information' section of the application that 'the 500-600 pounds budget excludes accommodation which will be covered by my host and excludes flight costs as well, which will be covered separately using my USD savings, if my visa is granted.' Seeing that you have UK history, I can tell you authoritatively that you'll be granted, except you mess up the application.

Aside accomodation and feeding, your host should not be paying for your ticket.

Minimum return ticket cost is between ₦1.4m to ₦2million

Then for entertainment, shopping transportation, budget £500 to £1000

State that your host will cater for accommodation and feeding.

Thanks. However, do I really need to factor in the cost of airfare into my total budget? Because if I do, my total budget of approximately 1,000 to 1,100 pounds for a one-week trip to London (including flight ticket) will exceed 2 times my monthly disposable income, which they can use as a justification to reject my visa application, or do you think my USD savings of $7k+ will support my case? Can't I just state that my total budget for one week is between 500 and 600 pounds, noting in the 'additional information' section that this budget excludes accommodation covered by my host and excludes airfare, which will be paid for if my visa is granted?

Nothing to be scared about, please be realistic. If you’re not spending on accommodation and feeding… kindly put an ‘appropriate’ budget for flights. If you find something cheap, you can add a screenshot of that price just so the ECO knows you are not just been funny. Disposable income is here and there for some and as long as you can convince the ECO on a balance of probabilities that they can take a chance on you- again.
You earn well and hopefully this is a salaried job. Get every form of proof- employment letters, promotion letters, staff appraisals, feedbacks, id card, pictures etc
If there’s anything to change
1. You can reduce your spending in the next couple of months so your expenses stays below 300k, this in turn increases your disposable income.
2. Also try to keep your stay for 1 week
3. Shopping is not mandatory. Write down a good itinerary of your day to day plan
4. Your savings in thousands pf dollars would help especially if the origin of the funds are clear + funds have been in there for a long time
5. If your employment has also been for close to a year or years- that’s also good
6. If you have other assets and investments + family ties to present- present them
7. Don’t mess up your application form pls.

This is very possible, except if you can't see that part that says cancel application.

You can click on Cancel application and it will take you to the page where you can apply.

I did that earlier this year

If you look at the form, there's a place that you must fill the total cost of the trip and another part you're to fill the percentage you're personally contributing.

Yes, all the cost, except the one that would be covered by your UK sponsor.

As I said, you can't expect anyone else to buy your ticket, as you're an adult

Ideally it should be

Air fare
Accomodation
Feeding
Entertainment/shopping/transportation

All will give you what you're budgeting.

UKVI is very much interested

For those travelling this December, there's something that happened to me.

Last week in November, 2024, I bought ticket.

Between Wednesday this week and today, I realized that the sharp gain of Naira against the dollar, means I paid more by a whole ₦560,000.

Kindly of painful as this is a lot of money.

If you've not bought your ticket, you can take advantage of the Naira strengthening to do so ASAP
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by b31164707:
Thanks for your feedback. I think budgeting 1,000 pounds (including flight cost) is reasonable. I'll budget 500 pounds for living expenses (excluding accommodation) for a week and like 500 pounds for the cost of airfare. 500 pounds is like 1.1m and I should be able to get a flight ticket for this amount using any of the African airlines like RwandAir or Royal Air Maroc. There's no way my expenses can stay below 300k over the next few months in this high cost of living economy. Since fuel price increased, fueling my car alone every month can be up to100k, so my average monthly expenses are usually somewhere between 350k and 450k.

Hello everyone,
Trust we are having a great day so far. I have a few enquires to make concerning tier 2 dependant visa application.

I'm a student who recently got married to someone who is currently on a tier 2 visa (about a month ago) and we're in the process of filling out a visa application form for myself. There are several questions in the application that I would appreciate clarity on.

1. Evidence of why you and your partner lived apart during the last two years
Being that we just got married although we have been in a relationship for about 4+ years now, what is the best way to respond to this? And what particular evidence do they expect from a newly married couple?

2. Evidence that you and your partner continued your relationship while living apart
I guess for this, uploading whatsapp conversations would suffice right?. Is there any other thing I might need to add?

Thank you.

Any idea how UK visa officers calculate monthly disposable income? Is this just your regular 'net monthly salary - monthly expenses', or is it 'total inflows from your employer in a particular month (including any allowances received from employer) - expenses in that month'?

Thank you.

It's actually better to use a personal account. Funds in company accounts are not seen as belonging to the owner of the company.

Yes, use his statement of account. In addition, add your own statement of account as it is your personal and financial circumstances that will be scrutinized. Good luck!
