Nigeria’s premier and largest non-interest bank, Jaiz Bank Plc has achieved the new minimum capital requirement stipulated by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

The emergence of Jaiz Bank as one of the first to meet the new capital base came after the CBN, Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and Nigerian Exchange (NGX) cleared the bank’s N10.04 billion new equity funds.

Jaiz Bank had raised N10.04 billion through a private placement. The listing of the shares that arose from the private placement on the NGX marked the conclusion of the issuance process and confirmed Jaiz Bank’s early success ahead of the June 2026 deadline.

From the 3-hour 45th Annual General Meeting of Oando PLC, I suggest starting from the final hour to listen.

Mr. E. K. Osaku, the Independent Non-Executive Director of Oando PLC and Chairman of the Statutory Audit Committee, provided the following explanation (this is a transcript I prepared):

Going by above explanation, i think OJT was fair in this particular case and it is just fair to mention same

i remember this period (Ansbury) very well. he was particularly fighting an existential threat then.

he got money from Ansbury (i think Volpi) and Mangal to conclude the Conoco deal then. Unfortunately after conclusion price of oil went drastically down along with all projections on which the conoco deal was done hence he couldnt repay. Volpi and Mangal want their money back or take over the company. i think the aftermath was the loan which led to the current share repayment/ bonus

A new season has come
A new Oando is born
A heavy wind is coming
These are rare opportunities!
Thanks for not keeping the good news about Oando to yourself.
But we are still expecting the new gem that you promised to reveal sometime ago

Thanks Sis. I new that the bonus isn't going to cause any dilution as no new shares will be created. Just wanted to pin the guy who made the post saying it is "dilutive". Some people like making careless and emotional statements that lead others to lose money.
In fairness, I think the word ''bonus'' being used by people is the cause of the confusion.
The word ''bonus'' ordinarily would mean a dilution; the reason the company itself has been using the term ''share redistribution'', and has avoided using the word ''bonus''.
Share redistribution simply means that pre-existing shares are being withdrawn from some shareholder(s) and redistributed to other shareholders, therefore no increment in the total number of shares.
However, the recipients of the redistributed shares will have higher percentage stake in the ownership going forward.

MTN Pays ₦200bn Monthly In VAT, The Highest — Tax Committee

The Chairman of the Presidential Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms Committee, Taiwo Oyedele, has disclosed that MTN Nigeria contributes over N200 billion in Value Added Tax monthly, making it the largest contributor to the nation’s VAT pool.

Oyedele made the disclosure recently while speaking as a panellist during Channels Television’s Town Hall on Tax Reforms.

He used the platform to highlight disparities in the current VAT distribution system and explained the reforms aimed at addressing them.

According to the tax expert, the current system allocates all VAT paid by the country’s biggest telco to Lagos State, where the company’s headquarters is located, even though the services that generate this revenue are consumed nationwide.

“MTN is the largest contributor to VAT in Nigeria. So they, in fact, pay VAT of over N200bn every month; the gap between them and number two is huge.”

That is why some of these Ogas, old in the business, like Emma, should advise newcomers to read about a stock using available sources and draw their own conclusions, rather than stubbornly promoting their own biased views. Honestly, I wasn’t thinking about the stock market back then; I was preoccupied with other things. But, the more I study Oando, the clearer the picture becomes. It seems more like a business transaction gone wrong ten years ago than the “Tinubu playing games with investors” narrative often repeated here. As an intelligent person, it’s better to take other people’s interpretations with a grain of salt and conduct your own independent research. Please note, I’m not saying anyone is a saint. lipsrsealed

Surely this will even make matters worse? Why should expats be paid in Naira? Assuming the bill becomes law, they will just take their naira salaries and run back to the black market to convert it to USD, heaping more demand on the rate
Expats in Europe are paid in the currencies of the Country they reside.Nigeria can adopt the same.

Don't expect any huge response from the market.
The new developments in Oando would only reflect in the market price after some time. It will not be immediate.
The normal price fluctuations will happen but those who appreciate the new developments will key in for long term benefits. The market usually sheds price during Dec/Jan window

Emma's comments were also helpful to some during the period at least it would have triggered some people who understand that it is their own PERSONAL money they are staking to do some research and come to their own conclusion if they were DILIGENT enough.

Having said that i made a treatise on promotion of own views some few months ago (see my response to Oga Karl around October 24th) which were my own personal conviction of operating in public spaces.

Conclusively, OJT also didn't help during those period because he wasn't communicating to the public (minorities holders) clearly enough of the real challenges coupled with the fact that his cowboyish antecedent of acquiring Unipetrol was still a bitter taste in the mouth to some establishment people and the fact that around the same time he was disposing off some good numbers of Oando subsidiaries then (apparently in hindsight now was to pay down on some of the obligations on the same conoco deal that had hook him in the throat).

But in this particular case my personal reading of the issues is that he was fair enough (though could still have been better).
