It's an illusion but the illusion lends weight to how easy the stock price can move.

With the "less" expensive share, price movement is easier compared to the "more" expensive stock.

Sunrisepebble:
I’ve never understood this “more” expensive thing before, is it because with smaller share prices you get more units which gives the illusion of greater gains? 500k in Oando and 500k in Aradel is the same exact thing if they both move up by 10%, regardless of number of units held.

I had friends who I marketed Aradel to everyday from #5k pre-split and they didn’t buy because it was also “too expensive” but they later bought at the split price of #517 (#10k), not knowing they’d have got more units buying it at #5k

To hit it big in this market, you need to wear patience up and down and tie am for head as gele too. See stocks like Chams, toying with Loco's emotions. The moment he sells, the stock will zoom off
Reason why it is good to invest with patient capital

All other things being equal, the cheaper the price of a stocks, the more affordable it becomes for investors to buy, and the higher the likelihood of it returning higher percentage in price appreciation or margins.
E.g. it is easier for Oando at N5 to increase to N50 (ten fold) than for N50 to increase to N500.
That is why some investors go for penny stocks;
Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by Raider76: 1:15pm On Dec 19, 2024
Oando will not go into exploration, which is costly and risky. They prefer buying ready made assets, or buying cheap government assets.

mikeapollo:
Thank God Oando was not listed among them! The noise would have been..............!

Also, less expensive stocks can go on full bid for a week or more. Past examples Transcorp, Chams, Japaul, etc. Recent examples Tantalizer, RT Briscoe, Eunisel, Caverton etc. Not possible with very expensive stocks

Wale said at the AGM that the drive is to be the major force in "onshore, swamp and shallow water crude production".

I think Oando is already an Exploration and Production (E&P) company. That is why they have OPL and OML licenses.
The companies they acquired (Conoco Phillips and ENI/NAOC) were big time E&P companies.

The new oil blocks were won by some companies that are even smaller than Oando.

Virtually all the upstream companies are into E&P, although they may be doing partnerships or joint explorations with other major companies in order to minimize their risks and costs

In addition to that, a stock with market price of less than N100 can officially move in price over and over again on a daily basis because the amount needed for 100,000 block movement is easier than a stock selling for over N500. Take for example, Aradel/Nestle/DangCement can be on bid/offer for days without officially moving up/down because you need billions to get 100,000 block movement, that is, even if someone brings offer of that magnitude, compared to the likes of Oando/Unilever/WAPCO.

I dont do 100% one stock portfolio in vain.
We have made enough for the year in many stocks.
This time,we have one basket that will be too heavy to carry on the head.

Wahala. I personally feel 450 is a good entry point for a stock that will definitely not be trading at this level based on next years results with all things considered. But each to their own

Is there any other special agenda apart from the consideration of the 9 months audited financial report?
Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by designking: 2:13pm On Dec 19, 2024
I wanted to add more Oando to my 50k units but after I check some calculations made here I decided not to add more.

If the Share redistribution (alias share bonus) details and dates are announced, Oando will certainly cross ₦100 per share.

My 50k units will make my Oando portfolio ₦5m and if the bonus ratio is 1:2, that will make my total volume 75,000 units and that will make my portfolio further expand to ₦7.5million from its current ₦3.5m.

That is more than ₦4million profit and 100%+ ROI.... If Wale fit deliver, he will me my Daddy OO

But fear no let me add any units more because it is more of a gamble.

I expect oando news tomorrow after the close of business for the 5 days window. I believe everything will be concluded at most the end of this yr to give back something to shareholders pain for all this yrs...my street sense

Then the company will start on new slate from next yr as reborn entity
