They were not allowed to increase tariff in the presence of the unrelenting inflation and naira depreciation. It's impossible not to make losses since they use services of firms and plants that charge in dollars. I saw they have been allowed recently. So, supposedly, they will increase prices of their services and begin breaking even.
Fair enough but other companies in the same sector in Nigeria are reporting growth and profit. I’m also wary of the huge debts. I think they may be diverting some of the Nigerian funds into other countries.

I just don’t trust most South African companies operating in Nigeria. They see us as their cash cows

So do you see thr price doing 100% in 2025 based on last closing price. Na 100 % be my yard stick for 2025.Then it could go slow from 2026.The naija stocks need to reprice the new reality of naija as per exchange rate/inflation in 2025.
Though some have already done it in 2024

I am bullish on MTN

I have said it on several occasions that I am allocating a decent sum towards MTN, Airtel Africa and Nestle /NB

I have "patient capital" so I can wait it out
These companies I argue, are about to unshackle themselves from the huge forex losses that ate into their net assets, as well as huge finance cost incurred (esp NB)

Q4 2025 into Q1 2026...... We feast!!!!!
I like that word "PATIENT CAPITAL" 😘

compliment bro. I can see you are eager to know the FP of uacn from your post over few days... bear in mind, given a fair value here does not mean the stock will get to that price or the price will not go above the fp. the koko is enter a good company and get out at your target... valuation of a company is continuous... FP may worth N10 this quarter and worth less or more in the next quarter report... I remember when I gave alert on Nacho @ less than N6.. as it then my valuation price was N26. I personally sold mine at N27. today the price is N46 .

for me I do try to carry good researches and seek some of my Ogas opinions on a stock before pointing it out. I will never come here to point out a stock based on hope or MH, UACN has been below N10 for some months but never worth pointing out based on my bedsheet.. no alert of such but when it move close to N20 and the FA look good on bedsheet grin, it become attractive for Alert.

..to your post on UACN fp, my bedsheet based on their latest report so far is N45 it could get better or worst with new information any time

grin grin grin grin grin grin
It may reach 46, but rest assured it will eventually fall significantly. In fact, I would start offloading it now so I can trade in other stocks. With a dividend of just 0.22 naira per share, even the current trading price of 30 naira seems overly optimistic. Unless they declare a dividend of 1.8 naira per share, the company is bought out, or it goes private, the price will likely crash to below 20 naira. Let’s see what Mr. time reveals.

shocked shocked shocked
Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by Sunrisepebble: 7:57am On Dec 27, 2024
Exactly, also, most of their lease agreements with tower companies like IHS were paid in dollars, they have renegotiated some of these contracts and are now paying in naira.

I don’t expect much on the dividend front tbh. The yield has always been poor but with an increase of let’s say 40% in tariff, and less FX impact. I see the price in the 250-300 range again based on FY 25 results

Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by Sunrisepebble: 8:02am On Dec 27, 2024
For the consumer goods sectors it depends on the model of the company. Some are import based like Dangote Sugar, and therefore made losses when the exchange rate crashed. Some had taking huge intercompany loans from the parent like Nestle, and Nigerian Breweries in USD and therefore with Naira depreciation it meant they had to pay back more in Naira terms.

I’m also bullish on Airtel Africa, however with the poor liquidity and the high share price, meaning it’ll take more capital to move the stock. I’d prefer to go for MTN. If an arbitrage opportunity opens up, I’ll start buying small on the LSE that’s where the company also executes most of its buy backs but for now the arbitrage window is non-existent

Bovis:
Well done bro for agreeing to quit the ramblings. I’m with you in Airtel and NB already. I don’t trust the management of MTN in Nigeria due to many factors and past events involving government fines

Additionally, the last poor result as a result of FX losses may have been exaggerated because the company seems to be making huge profits in other developing countries similar to ours.

I also don’t understand why Nestle is declaring huge losses when Unilever and co in the same sector are doing well

Just my opinion oo!

From now till the end of the year, I’m still looking for a good entry into Nahco, might buy some more Transcorp and if MTNN trades @ 190 or below again, I’ll look to add more.

These are my stocks for 2025 though:
UGAZ
Presco
MTNN
Seplat (on LSE)
Transcorp
Vitafoam
NAHCO
Nigerian Breweries
Aradel (@ attractive entry)

On the radar/ More research to be done on: Nipco, Okitipupa, Maybaker, UACN and Unilever
I no see wapco for this your list. Have you given up on the bus?
Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by Sunrisepebble: 8:36am On Dec 27, 2024
I’m not looking to buy more. I’ll hold the one I have for now.
If the acquisition happens, great. If it doesn’t, I keep a great company that will also do very well under new ownership. It’s a win win

What I would say is that they will certainly perform better going forward. Did I say certainly? grin

Nothing is certain jare. More adverse macro-economic policies may spring up again, who knows.

Don't change the subject
This is about the failure in Aso Rock delivering sub optimal outcomes for Nigerians

N15.4 trillion IN ANNUAL DEFICIT is a disgrace no matter how much u wanna white wash it

That was GEJ total budget for three years (this is a statistical fact, that you can fact check and process, if your brain has the brain power for such exercise)

Like it. is said on the street, no be by "cho cho cho"
Show workings....
And the workings so far. 18 months into a dismal presidency, has been nothing but a failure and a disgrace

Record high MPR and Record recklessness in fiscal profligacy going hand in hand grin cheesy grin

This is the govt you dunderheads are defending 🙄
Anyways his tomfoolery made me a lot of money this year, so it was not all bad
... as in seriously, anyone who is comparing the absolute value of money in just figures ... to be modest, should not be here or talk whenever economics is being discussed. There is a time value of money, there is inflation and these are not Nigerian things but universal principles.

The price range you mentioned is equally what I expect from mtn at max.Next yr I will be very greedy so I want minimum of 100% for anything I am buying. I am looking out for fundamentallly sound stocks that are yet to reprice the new reality. That is devaluation and inflation based on its current earnings. This will be seen in full yr results of 2024

The truth is that it will take ellah at least 3 years from now to achieve this feat. Palm plantation don't grow overnight, it takes at least 4 years for an average oil palm to reach fruition. The crucial question to ask is, when did ellah planted their oil palm plantation? This will help in determining when to buy the stock for capital appreciation.

Still very bullish on Presco
Biofuel. We are still struggling to produce palm oil with a maximum of 5% fat constituent at scale. Don't take palm oil from common man oo. The egusi soup will no longer bang!!

A good fund hedging idea though.
