Thanks

ositadima1:
What I mean by the 10-day moving window is that it tracks all anomalies occurring within the last 10 days, starting from the current day. Each new day drops the earliest day from the list, maintaining a rolling 10-day period.

Regarding the volume anomaly, I analyzed the volumes from the past 252 days (excluding the current day) and calculated the rolling mean and standard deviation. If the current day’s volume exceeds the mean plus 2 standard deviations, I consider it an anomaly (or what stats people call an outlier). Additionally, for it to qualify as an anomaly, the price change must remain within ±2%.

I put small money there o, maybe Providus will resurrect it. Anything is possible in NGX. Don't write off any stock. Even your International Brewery can rise tomorrow. We call it following the sector to move. cool cool cool

Stocks that underperformed can turnaround bountifully.
It happened to Ikeja Hotels, FBN, Wapco, Oando etc
It may soon happen to IB Plc, HoneyWell, Unity Bank etc
I think I agree with you. I held onto Honeywell for so long, they never paid dividend and the price never appreciated. Immediately I sold off to recoup my money, it started going north. This things keep happening to me, immediately I selloff, the same stock I gave been holding for donkey years without any movement would suddenly start rising in price. I sm beginning to suspect my village people. huh

It's always a delight to understandyour thought process. Thank you.
ositadima1:
Kind of... On 25-10-2024, it flagged on my screener. It first showed symptoms in the filter: a jump in volume with minimal price change. This stock, which typically traded at less than 2 million daily on average—and sometimes under 200k—suddenly did over 6 million naira that day, without much price movement. It was still trading below 2 naira.

I’m not claiming I see everything—most stocks don’t behave this way. In fact, many don’t. Also, sometimes the signal indicates a sell, as sellers might have better information.

Let me share my current list of volume anomalies. The screener uses a moving 10-day window of data. Check some of the older dates—some stocks have already gained in value since they were first spotted, and some showed the anomaly more than once. Look at today’s new arrivals and let’s see what happens with them.

One more thing: this is just a preliminary observation and requires further analysis before investing your hard-earned money. For example, even though I noticed SUNU Assurances, I didn’t bother analyzing it, so I didn’t bet on it.

Oga Agba say he is seeing market crash. You want me to believe with the stability in naira and the coming of all these refineries that the economy is heading for worst. I no agree. Inflation will see gradually reduction too.The whole naija economy will recalibrate to new reality. The past 19 months it witnessed a shock by policies that have come to stay and now a reality

I like the possible projection of 30% foreign investors. I have never considered it in my outlook for 2025.My views has been within our local participation which is good for our market. If that happens na mad bull go happen in 2025.The market will become properly reprice based on devaluation of naira

Curious they did not give much consideration to Oando in the Upstream developments and acquisitions compared to Seplat and Aradel. They also did not give a buy recommendation on Oando. Is it just because of the issues of governance and lack of clear information on fundamentals in the case of Oando, that made them not want to stick their neck out; or do they see the potentials of the acquisitions made by Oando as not good enough compared to those of Seplat and Aradel?

Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by HesInMe:
A stockbroking firm which makes money from trading is telling us the market is going to go gangbusters in 2025. I'm so surprised.

Investors would be wise to consider the alternative case too: Global equity markets are already richly valued. US housing and employment are slowing down. Protectionist policies are taking root. Public debt is high, limiting fiscal policy options. Odds of a global recession are rising, which could slam oil prices. Guess which country is still oil-dependent?

Happy 2025.

Happy New Year to all NSEMPA family. We shall all reap all the benefits of our investments this year and always. I duff my cap to all the SA, TA, FA, MH gurus in the house. I also will not forget the active members of this group, you are all recognised. The sleeping / dormant partners, we are aware you are there reading through the thread without any contributions. Not forgetting those that love criticism, you are sighted too. We have the good, the bad and ugly in our midst. Every investor remains the CEO of his portfolio. As our faces are different, so is our objectives for investment different. I will implore us to take things calmly this year. Some had already prophesied the bears, but I am seeing a raging bull this year. You may be right and I may be wrong. But, have it in mind that the market has a mind of its own. I wish us all a wonderful trading in the year 2025. May our gains be more than our losses. Happy New Year.
