You can also consider selling your assets and fix the money at Wema alat fixed deposit then go for goal based loan at 13.3% interest rate for up to 12 months.

This one better pass assets backed loan at 30% from ucap

I don do the Wema alat goal based loan for 2 or 3 times.Simply the best
Do you really understand the maths of this thing, sell and buy money market fund and do your goal saving by investing every month for the next 2 years.

Just that if I used this method in January 2023 by the time I must have achieved my target in January 2025, I would have missed buying Nahco at N8.00 two years ago and willl now buy it at N48.

Check list for value cum growth investors

For the big 5 numbers, I think 15% and above should be applicable to Nigerian stocks

Tution? I'm sure if anyone has learned from the other here, you're the learner.

Is GDP a measure of the quantity of goods produced or a measure of the value?.

Get your points to be coherent na, you don't have to comment if you're not knowledgeable about something.

You yourself gave an analogy that shows the value has increased from N100m to N200m but you claim since the quantity didn't increase from 10,000 tonnes then no GDP growth.

Come on na, no be value be GDP again, have they changed the definition to quantity?

As long as you understand that the value should be showing N200m from the old N100m, you've gotten my point. What you should explain if you have an answer is why NBS is showing the value as N110m.
Real GDP growth removes the effect of inflation (usually caused by devaluation) on that growth. While nominal GDP growth would give you as it is. What you are focussed on as the only GDP growth is nominal gdp growth.

IN-HOUSE DICTIONARY OF ACRONYMS

NSEMPA: Nigeria Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts – Name of the thread.

FA: Fundamental Analysis – Stock analysis done with fundamentals of a stock such as financial statements and other economic indicators.

TA: Technical Analysis – Stock analysis done with using some technical tools and charts.

GA: Gut Analysis – From claims of having “gut feelings” about how a stock will move.

SA: Spiritual or Sentimental Analysis – From sentimental attachment to a stock and claims of spiritual insight into the future of a stock.

MH: Monkey hunting/ Monkey hunter – An allegation/accusation that a stock is being manipulated either by calls to buy or sell off. The "monkey hunter" then profits by buying more or selling off their holdings when prices move in their favour.
Background: From story of a businessman who goes to a village to buy monkeys. He buys at different intervals at ever higher prices thus creating a market for monkeys along with artificial scarcity. He ends up selling off all the monkeys back to the villagers who hoped there will always be market for monkey sale. He disappears after selling at the highest price and all the villagers had monkeys with no one to sell to, losing all their money in the bid. Author of the real story unknown. It is posted here once in a while.

SMN: stockmarketnewsnigeria [dot] com. A now-defunct website exclusively created for stock discussions like here. Was probably owned by owners of Nairaland.

Cowboys: CEOs of notable companies who are considered to display manipulative business tactics.

One Afolabi Unit: 2,000 units of any stock.
Background: I can’t recall. Someone should kindly provide the story behind the “Afolabi units” term.

JIJO: Jump in, Jump out. Term used by traders. Means buying a stock and selling at the very shortest term especially as soon as it makes some gains.

Tashere Units: Very few numbers of shares bought or left unsold. Amount depends on the person. Such shares are either bought or left in the portfolio to have a "foot in the door”, e.g. so as not to have to process e-dividend all over again or just to see how the stock will perform.

Loot: A gloating or bragging term for large profit from short term trade. A jackpot from JIJO. (As described by @Zendi)

Bull from Burundi: A way to describe noticeable general rise in the prices of stocks. An apparent play on the words bull and Burundi.

NOTA BENE
- Some of these are standard investment terminologies (FA, TA), others grew out of constant conversations and banters and created by members here or brought from SMN. I cannot recall who started using what term. All rights reserved to them.
- This compilation is just a contribution to render this thread easier to understand for new readers. It will be reposted maybe monthly or quarterly to aid new readers. Kindly correct, modify, clarify and add.

Thanks.

That stock has been on full bid every single trading day since December last year.

It will definitely hit 20 naira per share this year.

What is the return on equity? Is it growing over the years? What is the net margin?

What is the compounded annualized earning growth rate in the last 3 years
Chams -

ROE
9M/2024 = 9.5% and Estimated FY2024 to be 12% NM = 8.2%, with estimate of 10% FY2024
2023 = 0.2%, NM = 0.5%
2022 = -4%, NM = -7.4%
2021 = -7.6% NM = -10.8%
CAGR net earnings can't be calculated because Charms has been on negative earnings since 2021,2022 and became positive in 2023, she has been able to increase her earnings on yearly basis by #482,551,000 to become positive in 2023 going forward.
2023 is 20,220,000 and in 2021 is negative 944,882,000

Revenue from 2021 to 2024/Sept = 3.3b - 5.1 - 9.7b - 16b (estimated for FY 2024 bcus 9m = 13b)
Revenue has been growing 70% per year from 2021 to 2024, let's assume it will drop to 30% per year for the next 3 years,
then revenue by 2027 = 30b
Assuming they maintain the 2024 net margin 10% in 2027, Net income will be 3b, EPS = 0.64 and with an estimated P/E of 7, 2027 price = #4.5 which means Chams will double in price in the next 3 years from the current price of 2.3.
If she can increase her revenue by 50% per year from 2025 to 2027 and maintain a net income margin of 10%, price will be #5 per share

You are doing well, since return on equity is expected to increase to 12%, the return on invested capital will be less than 10%

Might be a stock for a quick sprint and enjoy capital appreciation, won't be good for a marathon. This can change if there is a turnaround and improvement in margins

I look at stocks with a return on invested capital of 20% and above

Compounded annualized earning growth rate of 15% in the last 5 years

When return on equity is increasing, margin is improving, earnings are growing, shareholders fund is growing, revenue is increasing and debt is reducing.

That is a compounder and can afford to go long term with such company

I doubt it. According to NAICOM, the industry regulator, the total gross written premiums in Nigeria in Q2 2024 exceeded N800bn. So this incremental government premium, perhaps ~N10bn, or ~1% increase in industry premium revenue, is unlikely to justify the frenzy of buying in the sector.
I concur with you
