Write a letter to your bank, instructing them to send the money back to the EXACT account ( it must not be another account) that sent the money to you, make sure you get your acknowledgement copy of the letter from the bank...keep that acknowledgement very well, Incase any issue arises.

N10m was wrongly credited to a client's account in a first generation bank. The client didn't report to anyone nor utilise the fund for over 3 years. Nobody called and there was no reversal in the period and client ended up utilising the money in the fourth year without any consequence to date.

How you go advice person to enter police net just like that.
If you go police station, you must drop money.
The smart thing to do is to go to your bank and tell them to reserve the transaction.

The reservation by the bank cannot exonerate the guy (receiver) by the time he is accused of attempted fraud, unless his request to the bank is written and documented.

By the way, going to the police will not cost him money in this case except you are refering to the cost of his transportation.

Half of the people mouthing off how they'll return the money, are lying. Many of una go spend that money even before the phone call comes requesting for a refund.

Just mk sure it's the same account you got it from you're sending it back to.


Better still tell the person to go to his/her bank while you do same.

He called me for a refunded.. But I had to first shout at him not to make that mistake again.. I refunded the money back to him..

When he called to thank me, I shunned him down and switched off the call...

I was just in my one of moods swing that day 😅

Refund him,simple. Since he has called you. Else you'll still be caught and disgraced.

Be careful of POS transfer. Most time it’s fraud money. Just be careful. Only send it back to where it came from

Government wether good or bad concerns all of us. Worshipping politicians is a no no to me. I only share in their positive ideologies. If them misbehave dem go collect. That’s how it’s supposed to be. Happy Sunday.

You are right but require my friend to go to court and get a warrant for that to happen but you know Nigeria situation, it's just 36k. If he goes to court to get the warrant, he would spend so much money to get it done. The money was meant to pay for grocery and the seller hurriedly called his account number but a wrong account number but the name coincidentally similar. See the attachment below... Christian Nwachukwu something and the other name Christian something Chukwu too, the only difference was the English name, so much similarities in the two accounts, I even suspected it's a scam by the grocery seller ....also the account number very similar, just a number or two makes it different.....the grocery seller said it has happened before to him, when he gave account number out and the buyer mistakenly input a wrong number and such happened. My friend wanted to deal with the grocery seller but he claimed he called the correct number for my friend...that's how the money went o....

[You are right. Everybody is a hero and an angel on social Media....wwhereas some are as terrible as anything. More reason I attached the details of the guy's name and account number to this message, who knows how family, friends etc....might recognize him on social ........name and account so similar to the correct one.....

My experience. This is why few people here should t drag us into tribalism. Sometime last year I bought few baffs (clothes) worth 190k. When I wanted to make the transfer the seller called an opay number that supposed to end with 08…he mentioned 80. I made the transfer only to wait for over 30 minutes for him to confirm alert. I rechecked again and found out that he made the mistake. So I added 0 to the opay account and someone in Ibadan picked the call. I pleaded with him that it was a mistake but he said I’m a 419. The next day I sent him a message and pleaded with him again,,he told me that he will need to go to town and check. So I believed him. Behold the guy called me back that he saw the money and he doesn’t have a smart phone and that he needed a friend’s smart phone to do that. I said ok.

Few hirs later he called me again and said I should send him my account details and I deed.

He sent me the money. I had to call him to ask how much it’ll take him to fix his phone and he said 15k. I sent him 50k to add up and buy a new one. Omo the guy just Dey shout for background. Guess what? I went to Ibadan for a golf tournament and invited him. He came and we had drinks and food. Today we are friends. The guy na Yoruba boy oooo.

They can steal someone's identity and transfer money out of his or her account to you and inform you it was a mistake.

They will now give you a different account number to transfer the money to.

Don't transfer it back because many are in detention for this type of scam.

Report it to your bank or get the police involved.

Withdraw and send some to me. When the owner calls for his money tell him or her that you withdrew the money by mistake.
Case closed!

just report to your bank and have it documented. You can also report to the police, if you don't get a positive response from the bank. Don't accept what ever any caller says

I understand. I was also thinking of that when he called me that he had mistakenly sent money into my account. When I saw that it was just 4k I thought it could be a mistake

Don't panic, as long as the account you are to send the money to is the same account that sent the money to you. But if the person wants you to send the money to a different account, involve the police.

If it was a POS transaction and the account identity is unclear, involve the police before returning the money to any account provided by the person.

Involve Nigeria police ?
